I don't own all of these games (I don't have Doom, Quake, any of the Looking Glass or Sir-Tech games, Fallout II, Half-Life, BG2: ToB, Wipeout XL, Rollcage, Sam and Max, or Alpha Centauri) but I know they are good enough to be in this list.

And most of the non-numbered games, of course.

So... what am I missing... :)
Most of my favorites are already on there.

Except:

Lucasarts: Full Throttle, The Dig

EA: Battlefield 1942
Full Throttle... yeah. And probably The Dig. I want to get both of those games... I've heard they are good. Getting The Dig would be hard though, because its discontinued. :( Both should be on the list though... expanding LucasArts' lead on the list to three. :)

As for BF1942, based on the demo its fun but probably wouldn't make it on my list. but I just don't like FPSes as much as most people.
I just thought of some more:

Sierra:
-Space Quest IV Roger Wilco and the Time Rippers
-Space Quest VI The Spinal Frontier

EA:
-Relentless [that game was awesome]

ID Software:
-Quake 3 Arena

Epic Games:
-Unreal Tournament
Aliens versus Predator 2 by Fox entertainment, the only thing I really need to add to what has been said already.

*thanks ABF for not putting Diablo II under best Blizzard game*
Diablo II isn't nearly good enough to be on this list.

Relentless: Little Big Adventure... yes, that game is good... but its sequel LBA2: Twinsen's Odyssey is better, at least based on the demo. :)

As for Q3 and UT I guess so... because this is a overall list and not just a list for me. :)
I suggested you make this? Confused

And you really liked POD?
Quote:I suggested you make this?

When you made your 'IGN's best games ever list stunk so lets make our own best console games' post. Yeah, it was a while ago... but this afternoon I decided to write up a list. It was obviously quick because I left off some major titles...

As for Pod, its a great racing game! Pure and simple arcade racing fun... nice graphical style... and lots of variety! Its got so many tracks (35+... 16 built in, and at least 15 downloadable...), lots of cars (again, 8 built in and something like 50 downloadable... though you can only have 8 in the game at once), and a graphical style that IMO still looks nice. Sure its outdated but I like its unique look... and its got some cool tracks.

If you missed some of the cooler downloadable tracks you really missed some of the best tracks in the game... like the ice track, or the tropical island.. :)

I'm still annoyed that it won't run on my computer. Stupid game is such a pain to get running, what between the five versions of about six different patches and the different versions of all the tracks and cars to download... annoying...
Yeah The Dig, I have that. It's a game that makes me want to read the book it's based off of. I wanna visit space/time 6! NEVER ressurect dead people with giant glowing green jellybean things! Fun game, and one I forgot was made by Lucasarts, so I guess that makes 2 Lucasarts adventure games I played before learning about Monkey Island.

As far as Sierra, I might add to that list King's Quest 6 at least as that's my personal fave of those games (though they all are superior to King's Quest 8, the game that ruined the series as they say..., well it certainly didn't save it near the end days of "Golden Sierra"). Well, I suppose it actually ties with King's Quest 4, but I know ABF can't stand parser interface adventuring (and I can totally see why, after all the need to have to find just the right wording can drive one into quite a delicious delirium what with the pulling of hair and such), so perhaps it would be best to go with the cursor interface game for that list.

In any case, I must suggest a little gem from SCi (the only game I own from that company I might add) known as Kingdom O' Magic, but I suppose you expected that. Even after finally playing Monkey Island 3 and 4 and Grim Fandango (all great games I might add), I still find KOM's Monty Python-esqu humor that saturates the game right down to the instruction booklet itself to be superior in the end, not that it makes the Lucas adventure comedy games any less humor filled mind you. Also, the emphesis on having many different ways to solve the many puzzles and the various conversation selections actually having some sort of real effect on HOW the game plays out (save for the endings of the quests) is something I certainly find great about that game. If only it was designed for Windows so I could more easily play it when I want to, since as it is it's a very tricky deal just getting it to work, much like The Dig actually. Of course, I must warn you ABF that KOM DOES involve death, many of which are a result of solving a puzzle incorrectly. I know you find that annoying in an adventure game so I thought I'd warn you and let you decide for yourself if that's enough to shy you away from it.

Good show picking a few games I loved playing long ago, Commander Keen and the last 2D Duke Nukem (Only played the shareware of DN2, though I had all 3 chapters of DN1). Oh, and Jazz Jackrabbit, and One Must Fall!

Oh but wait, might I suggest in Epic you add Jungle Jill? Actually, I can't remember many details of it, and in fact it might not have been the best game, but I have memories of great fun throwing various jungle throwing stars about and such. Also, I might suggest Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure for Apogee. That too is a game I enjoyed, with it's somewhat unusual wall climbin' junk involved. Ah yes, the old days of PC platforming, where most items one could collect were there purely for the score!

Hmm, actually the most recent PC 2D platformer I have is Claw by Monolith (no, not Monolith Soft the sub company of Namco origins who created the great yet far too short game of Xenosaga, which didn't quite live up to Xenogear's incredible nature but that's not the point, time to leave this parenthesis, in fact my grammar is atrocious within these things and I've always known it, using these things as a liscense to do run-on sentences like I do...), which I also suggest be added. I myself certainly consider it a gem among PC 2D platforming, though perhaps it's because that crazy pirate cat pressed all the buttons on my naustalgia-tron 6000 (which is exactly as it sounds, a toned down more affordable version of the naustalgia-tron 9000).

Edit: Nuts, I forget this great racing game from a LONG time ago for PC. It was the first polygon based racing game I played, and in fact one I played before Mario Kart or F-Zero even came out. In fact, I always fondly remember that stunty racing game yet can never remember the name. I keep thinking "stunt racer" but that's an SNES game that's quite different. This one had a weird F-Zero meets some realistic racer quality to it, that is amazing speedy stunt tracks with actual cars on them. Of course, I never thought of it as a combo at the time having only played a few racers before it, all of which I didn't really enjoy. Not knowing the name, I also have no idea of the company, but I can say this of it.

The opening logo has this car racing around, then the logo zooms out showing the car is actually racing ON the logo in space. Then you select to race or various options. It's fun enough. The various tracks have all sorts of crazy bits to them. There are the standard ramps, and upcurved turns where you went vertical on a wall due to the turn, and some loops, and even this one really freaky stunt I almost always crashed up on where you toss yourself straight up into the air and PRAY you will somehow manage to land on the other side. Another one had your car going straight up a wall, having to turn around ON that wall, and go down the other side. It had F-Zero X-like tunnels where you could ride the car on any point of the tunnel, and as a dangerous varient, there was more of a spiral rather than a tunnel with a large wall bit in the center, where to survive you HAD to push yourself onto the wall and work ON the path of the spiral up and over this dangerous wall to get through. Oh, and one very fun thing was the first track editor I ever used. Ah, good memories of what I believe was a good game, if only I could remember the name!
I played the Dreamcast POD game and it sucked ass.
Normality!! I can't believe I forgot about it! That game was so awesome!!

Interplay
-Normality
Normality... I remember the reviews of that game were great, but unfortunately never played it. :(

POD on Dreamcast. Yeah, I've heard that too, from the people who liked the original PC game. It has weapons, and like 6 tracks... compared to Pod, which has no weapons (you just race...) and 16 tracks with another 15-20 downloadable... its just more fun. :)

King's Quest... okay series but I just never liked it as much as Space Quest or Quest for Glory. Still quite good though, except for the last one.

Then again, I always liked Lucasarts adventures more than Sierra... and yes, DJ, a big part of that IS because LA doesn't have death. Its so annoying to have to go back to your last save because you did something wrong... in some games you are afraid to do anything without saving because you might randomly die...

So... can we make a list of great Sierra adventure games WITHOUT hitting double digits? :)

-KQ4
-KQ6
-SQ4
-SQ5
-SQ6
-QFG1
-QFG2
-QFG3
-QFG4
-Castle of Dr. Brain

(though I haven't played QFG2-4, I love the first one so much... :) I actually have abandonware copies of QFG2-4 on my HDD but never got around to playing them... but QFG1 is my favorite Sierra game.) ... Okay, so since none of us have actually played those three I won't put them on the list. And QFGV, which I have played, just isn't as good as the older ones.

more? EcoQuest? Torin's Passage? A Leisure Suit Larry game? (I have EcoQuest, but not those others...)

I do own two KQ games, 5 and 7, but really haven't played either of them. Also from Sierra I have the first four Dr. Brain games... hey, I think The Castle of Dr. Brain and The Island of Dr. Brain were great fun. Especially the first one... anyone agree?

Hey, 30-something more games and we can hit 100... :)

Sounds like Megarace. It had FMV integrated into the game. That's Megarace.

Its Jill of the Jungle, and it was good, but I wasn't sure if its good enough for this list... I was going to add Jill of the Jungle and Xargon. I liked Xargon more, myself, but Jill is much more popular... okay, I'll add both.

As for Duke Nukem, I'm the opposite -- I played all of DN2 (since it came free in the Classic Games issue of PC Gamer), but only the DN1 shareware. But DN2 is way better. Should I put DN1 on anyway?

Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure was also good. Not as good as Keen or Duke, IMO, but good... good enough for this list? If Jill of the Jungle is, I guess Cosmo is too. :)

And how about Epic Pinball? Anyone played that? The demo was this robot table... I've only played that demo but that game was just so great. For years it was my favorite pinball game...

Quote:Hmm, actually the most recent PC 2D platformer I have is Claw by Monolith (no, not Monolith Soft the sub company of Namco origins who created the great yet far too short game of Xenosaga, which didn't quite live up to Xenogear's incredible nature but that's not the point, time to leave this parenthesis, in fact my grammar is atrocious within these things and I've always known it, using these things as a liscense to do run-on sentences like I do...), which I also suggest be added. There's another Monolith (that made Xenosaga)? Huh, didn't know that... yes, I've played the demo of Claw. It was a lot of fun... their Gauntlet clone was fun too. Forget its name, though... Monolith was also the creator of the Lithtech engine... and their first two games with it were Shogo and Blood 2. Yes, I know Monolith.

You'd put Claw on this list? Huh... it was good, but nothins that new or special... okay, it was fun. On it goes. :)

Ooh! Ooh! Sanitarium! Another GREAT Interplay adventure game, to do with Normality and The Last Express...
Sanitarium WAS a great game! I don't own it, but I managed to play through the whole thing when my aunt got it. I loved that cute "ruby fish" item that I never quite "got" until I watched the movie Clue after playing some of it :D. And yes, I am well aware that both Jill of the Jungle and Claw are probably only there because naustalgia overwhelms me (well, with Claw it was mainly because I missed those old 2D platformers, and that perhaps brainwashed me, that and I love pirates).

KQ5 and KQ7? Well, not really bad examples of the series, certainly not "Mask of Eternity" bad, but I find it amusing you missed both of what I consider the best of the series by adding 1 :D. KQ5 was a bit too linear. In fact it took me several tries to find out how NOT to get a perfect score :D. It was decent I suppose, but they hadn't quite got the whole cursor interface down I think until the next one. KQ7 wasn't that bad, and I loved the more lighthearted mood too, but they pulled a Wind Waker and made it too easy. First off, they gave one all purpose interaction cursor instead of the old having to find out how to interact with stuff at least. Second off, and this is something that makes the first deal not so big, and in fact it might not have even mattered had they just not done this, the cursor flashes over whatever you can interact with. I mean, that just ruins the whole having to guess and find out what you can interact with thing. That is likely the thing that most hurt KQ7. It was still a fun game and all, but the puzzles were just made far too easy when you could see exactly what you could click on for one, and second off, whenever you COULD use an item on something, it would also highlight as well. You could pretty much beat the whole game by just waving the cursor around randomly with and without items to see what you needed to do. Fortunatly, I didn't have the patience to do that, most of the time, so I managed to get myself stuck well enough.

I'll say this ABF. Of course there's nothing wrong with finding the frustration of realizing either you saved too long ago or you saved too late to do the correct thing to get through many of Seirra's adventure games (and KOM), but I'll say this about KQ7. KQ7, despite it's easyness flaws, did a couple great things. First off, whenver you die, you can simply choose to instantly go back to the game just before you made the wrong move. This way, saving isn't even needed, so the frustration or in many's case, a fear to do exploring, is eliminated, but the sense of danger is maintained. Also, the game design was done as such that you can never get stuck, as opposed to every previous KQ game, and in fact a lot of the other Sierra adventure games. It kinda sets you up so if some really early step is needed, you are either forced to do it or some alternate "lesser" way of doing it will be made available. Of course, Lucasarts always did this :D. It was just a matter of deciding what stuff makes a game enjoyably hard and what stuff just makes it frustratingly hard. Personally I still love the aspect of worrying about death, and yet I still explored as much as I would want, but in KQ7 it managed adding that thrill without the annoyance. Also, with chapter selection, should you actually get stuck (due to any unforseen design problems Sierra didn't find, which fortunatly there weren't) or just want to quickly go to some place to solve a puzzle a different way, you can go to 6 different "check points" and do so quickly. So, KQ7 wasn't a bad game, and it was fun and added a couple things, but in the end I still find it not as good as others in the series.

Oh, the subtitles are missing there, mainly because I didn't add them.

KQIV is "The Perils Of Rosella". KQVI is "Heir Today, Gone Tomorrow".

I did in fact play The Castle of Dr. Brain a long time ago. That was a fun game with more "pure" puzzling than most. Seems it was aimed at using computers to teach kids in the classroom. Remember Conquest of Camelot? I think that's what it was called. It was another parser interface game. To be honest, I never got very far because the computer I played it on had a bad install so after a certain point the game would just fail to load a resource file and crash. It seemed fun, but I suppose we've got plenty of Sierra games as it is, and from what little I played, it wasn't one of their best.

Oh, and yes there are two Monoliths. One is Monolith Soft, the Xenosaga company, and the other is the one who made a lot of substandard games, and a couple good ones.

Megarace... Yes, that sounds right. I don't remember FMV, as that wasn't on CD at all I should note. It was polygonal, not good mind you. Think Starfox quality :D. I think it was also a shareware version, or maybe not, it could have just had two versions, one on CD and one on floppy. Megarace does sound right though... What company was that?

Edit: No, I checked up on it. It's NOT Megarace. That game has weapons and this racing game had NO weapons. It had real cars on stunt tracks, the stunt tracks weren't from the future or futuristic looking, just stunty, all done out in a field in nature with a bright sunshiny day, not in some grimy metropolis or anything like that with permanently red skys with black clouds (you know, stereotypical futuristic racer look :D).

I imagine Duke Nuke 2 was superior to the first. From the shareware I played it did seem that way. I also found the over the top action parody funny. Of course, the very first thing I noticed among the better graphics was that Duke no longer had different frames for his left side and right side, like in the first one, so that he was always holding his gun in the same hand. Weird thing to notice actually, and not really a big deal since most left/right sprites are just done with sprite mirroring.

Epic Pinball! Yeah! I played the demo of that the same time I played the demo of One Must Fall, and I think I liked that one more. Being sheltered slightly, that was one of the first pinball games I played. It just seemed so right, so pure :D. Fun little game.
Kingdom of Kroz!! One of the coolest games EVER!!

Apogee
-Kingdom of Kroz
To improve clarity. Here's a list of all my LA and Sierra adventure games.

Sierra
QFG1, SQV, KQV, KQ7, EQ1, Dr. Brain 1-4.

Lucasarts
Monkey Island 1, 3, 4, GF, Indy & Fate Of Atlantis, Maniac Mansion: DOTT.

Of all those games, I have completed Monkey Island 1, 3, and 4, Grim Fandango, the first two Dr. Brain games, and Quest for Glory 1. Well... almost. I got to the last area but never beat it... my dad did. :D The rest of those games I just never beat... though in EcoQuest I got to what I think was the last puzzle, I got completely stuck there and gave up...

And I never even started either KQ game.

Oh... Sierra used their first cursor interface in a whole bunch of games... QFG1 VGA has it, SQV, KQV, Dr. Brain 1 and 2, EcoQuest... all have the same interface.

And yes, Dr. Brain was a puzzle game (it used the standard Sierra interface, but was heavily puzzle-oriented) and was aimed more at younger age groups. Perfect for me when I first played it... I really liked the first two games. They seemed like great mixes of adventure into the puzzle genre... unfortunately Dr. Brain 3 and 4 went downhill and are pure puzzle games. Some of the games are fun, but it just doesn't have the same charm.

Quote:I'll say this ABF. Both of those are very welcome changes... areas that you can get stuck in are awful, and its really annoying to die CONSTANTLY like you do in Space Quest V...

Essentially when I complain about dying in Sierra adventures I mean SQ5 because I never played any other Sierra adventures with death in them except for Quest for Glory 1, which was a hybrid RPG-adventure so it was okay in that one. :)

Maybe I should play KQ5 or 7 but when I read about them I hear that they weren't too good compared to some others and get dissuaded from it...

As for Megarace, it probably goes with Claw, Cosmo, and Jill in 'games that shouldn't be on this list but are because of nostalgia'. Because there's no way it matches up to Wipeout XL, Rollcage Stage II, Pod, etc... oh well. :)

Oh, I MUST get The Dig, Full Throttle, Monkey Island 2, Sam & Max, and the other four Quest for Glory games... somehow... legally... (erm... nope, I don't have ... versions ... of MI2, Sam&Max, and QFG2-4... uh...) :)
As I later realized, it couldn't have been Megarace (after reading reviews on what Megarace actually was), so erase that from your mind. I suppose I'm the only one who's played it here, whatever the game was called...

In any case, I do believe you should go ahead and at least try KQ7, since that one defeats any problem you might have with constant death or getting stuck. If you find it too easy, which may just happen, keep in mind that's not the norm. I suggest you go ahead and play it. Oh, the game was designed for Windows 3.x, so even if you have the win95 remake, keep in mind you will have to do some things like set the resolution and color depth to 640x480 at 256 colors to really see the game correctly, that and it's not in true full screen mode so unless you aren't too annoyed at the idea of accidently raising the task bar I'd suggest disabling aways on top. Yeah, it's annoying, but that's the breaks when dealing with old Win 3.x games (they really should have optimized the Win95 remake more...).

If you have the win95 remake (hardly a remake at all really... but hard to call it a port since it's not really being ported to an OS it couldn't be played on before...), keep in mind it had a couple nice features added like the ability to save without quitting (the first time around, since the death system had been tweaked as it was and you couldn't get stuck, they figured being able to save while playing wasn't really needed. Several people annoying by things like random power outages and OS crashes forcing them to start games from long ago since they couldn't save without quiting made them put it back in), and the ability to adjust walking speed (in case you find the normal character movement speed just too slow, hit + to speed things up, just like in all the old KQ games, shame it was missing from KQ7 in the first place).

Well, with annoying things like that in mind (and you may just have the old 3.x version anyway, in which case I must insist you get the latest patch for the game from Sierra due to a couple random glitches that could prevent you from completing the game, much like the Grim Fandango random glitches), perhaps you might still enjoy this game for what it is, a simple little adventure in a fantasy world with... FAIRIES! Oh yes, lately Sierra has been dropping the ball even more than normal (darn the internal rot of current era Sierra...), and so I haven't been able to find any patches for my older games. I do believe that may include the 3.x version of KQ7 (the 95 version never had any patches fortunatly), in which case you may in fact need to go around online to find the patch.

Wow, I started out trying to get you to play the game but I think I may have ended up shying you away even more. I know lots of work like that is often enough to get me to say "eh, maybe later" over and over again for like a year :D.

And yes, you must get The Dig. It's a fun game indeed. I wouldn't call it the best adventure game I've played, but I might say it's above average.
LucasArts does still sell Sam & Max, Full Throttle, and Monkey Island 2 (unforunately only in a pack with MI1 and 3, two games I own...)... but not The Dig. Which I want to play at least as much as those games, maybe more because I've at least seen some of them. :(

KQ7... no clue which version I have... but its probably the win3.1 one.
Well if the disk autoruns, it's 9x, otherwise it's 3.x.
It autoruns.

But plenty of non-win95 games do that! Look at Warcraft II. It came out christmas '95 for DOS... but it has a autorun program...

I bet that its still a win3.1 program, just with a added autorun on it.
Um, I have both versions (long story...), so I know already that the 3.x version doesn't autorun. In fact the disk is named what lots of old disks were named, VOLUME_ID. I'm fully aware that even some DOS games have autorun. I wasn't saying that as a general rule. I really was being specific to this case.
Ah.

Well then, I have the Windows one.
That's specific :D.
95.

Oh, and I added Epic Pinball, Kingdom of Kroz (yes, it IS a great game... I forgot it! :( ), and Accolade's Hardball III (still one of my favorite baseball games...). I'll add 3D0's High Heat 2004 soon... since High Heat is the best baseball series, and it should be there. :)
Any Space Quest or King's Quest by Sierra is an awesome experience; man they just don't make games that fun and interactive anymore... they just don't. Other than that, the BEST PC games of all time are:

-Jedi Knight
-Dark Forces
-Jedi Outcast
-Return to Castle Wolfenstein
-Age of Empires
-Age of Empires II
-Cossacks (and add-ons)
-Doom (all Doom, all episodes)
-Blake Stone: Aliens of Gold
-Sim City 2000
-Sim Tower
-Caesar III
-Star Wars: Galaxies
-X-Wing
-Star Wars Rebellion
-Duke Nukem: Atomic Edition
So... you... ENJOYED Mask of Eternity? Oh right, you like Quest 64.
R E A D. Most are there already.

-Jedi Knight - there
-Dark Forces - good idea
-Jedi Outcast - I don't think it belongs on the list... sure its kind of fun, but Quake... WITH LIGHTSABERS!!! just isn't my idea of fun when compared to the brilliance of JK1. I don't think it belongs.
-Return to Castle Wolfenstein - same as above. Decent game, not nearly list-worthy.
-Age of Empires - there
-Age of Empires II - I was dissapointed by AOE2... it was WAY too similar to AOE1 for me. Sure its fun... but I just felt very let down by how it changed almost nothing. Not on the list in my book... but if several others like it too it'll go on anyway.
-Cossacks (and add-ons) - okay game... but 'greatest games'? Maybe.
-Doom (all Doom, all episodes) - there already.
-Blake Stone: Aliens of Gold - no way...
-Sim City 2000 - there already
-Sim Tower - there already
-Caesar III - Caesar II is there. Will add III also.
-Star Wars: Galaxies - No. It doesn't look anything above average for the genre.
-X-Wing - There already
-Star Wars Rebellion - No. If you want to list a great X4 game, its called Master of Orion.
-Duke Nukem: Atomic Edition - there already

Added Cossacks, Caesar III, Conquest: Frontier Wars (a RTS I like), and Cossacks.

I don't feel like JK2: JO, SWG, Rebellion, Blake Stone, AoE2, or RtCW belong. What are other people's thoughts?
A see a whole lot of crappy games there but no sign of Elite, Privateer, or Freelancer.
Bad games? Like which? I don't see any bad games on this list...

Elite and Privateer are good ideas. Not so sure about Freelancer...
Extreme-G 2, Duke Nukem 2, and the Rayman games are on the list but not Freelancer?

Talk about a shitty list...
I made the initial list so I put all the games I wanted on it.

Hence some games I know others wouldn't put there -- Conquest, Extreme-G 2, Traffic Department 2192, etc... :)

Duke Nukem II is a very good sidescroller! And it got DJ's support too, so it belongs...

For the other additions I was just doing 'do 2 people want to add it to the list'. If two of us did, it has gone on.

So...

Games with 1 person supporting their addition to the list.

like JK2: JO, SWG, Rebellion, Blake Stone, AoE2, RtCW, and Freelancer.
Dune 2!

So what, this is just a stupid "crappy games ABF thinks are the best" list??
Everyone has been adding to it.
Yeah, OB1, just get someone to agree with you that they belong and I'll add it, no matter if I think it really belongs or not!

Oh, and I want to say something else. How about this is a rough list where we list all the great ones, then we try to pare it down to some shorter, prioritized list... if that's possible. :)
So... you... ENJOYED Mask of Eternity? Oh right, you like Quest 64

I never played that one, and I didn't intend to include it in my list...so NO, that wasn't counted in my "all Kings Quest" thing. And I stand by Quest, so shove off bitch.

My list was meant to be MY FAVORITE PC games, despite my title of BEST. Of course it won't go hand-in-hand with ABF or OB1, because my tastes are infinitely better:)

Why should we have to convince you to add it? Who put you in charge?
You did, when you suggested I should make the thread. :D

like JK2: JO, SWG, Rebellion, Blake Stone, AoE2, RtCW, and Freelancer.

So anyone... which of these should be added?

And Darunia, you should note that several KQ games are already on the list.
Bah, this list is worthless. Crappy Extreme G 2, Rayman, and the 2D Duke Nukems make the list but JO and Freelancer don't? This is pointless.
You have King's Quest IV written onto the list twice, and yet in one instance you can't think of it's name? And I DEMAND that AoE2 be given a place of honor on the list...do you hear me, I DEMAND! I played that game practically daily until I got Cossacks; it wasn't as original as ...well, the ORIGINAL, but it was still awesome gameplay, and it's vamped-up engine merit critical acclaim.
Jedi Knight is a much better game than Jedi Outcast.

I'll add it anyway though since now 2 of you want it. :)

As for AOE2.... it was a good game. Fun. I just... it was just too similar to the first one... oh well.
This whole thing is really stupid. We should be voting on which games should be put in the top 100, not which games ABF thinks should be in the top 100.
:bang:

I AM NOT DECIDING WHICH GAMES GO ON! Must I say what I have already said three times again?
You didn't want to add Freelancer even though you added your own crappy favorites.
So its fine that I don't add those other games that only Darunia suggested while I'm awful for not adding the one you like? Rolleyes

Or should I just add them all and then we'll sort out which are best later... fine, fine, I'll do that.

Well, I won't add the rest of the King's Quest games, but I will add those other games Darunia suggested.

But I still think it'd be far better to get 2 people to support a game before I add it, to keep really undeserving games off the list... but if you insist I'll make it 'any game anyone suggests goes on'.

Hope you like Blake Stone and Star Wars Galaxies, OB1... because I can't give you a pass to add games with no one else wanting them added and not Darunia.
You said that this isn't "your" list, but then refuse to include games that didn't get enough votes. Who else wants to see crap like EG 2 and Rayman on that list? I doubt anyone but yourself would want them there.

The best way to go about making a top 100 list would be to include every game suggestion everyone makes and then have rounds where people vote for which ones stay on.
I just added all the games people have suggested.

Oh, and Rayman 1 is a truly great 2d platformer... have you not played it? Too bad, its great... and unlike Rayman 2, its also VERY challenging...

As for Extreme-G 2, this is the PC version.

And I'm sure that if any other futuristic racing fans on this forum had played the PC version they'd want it on the list too. Why? Imagine the N64 game. Remove the multiplayer mode (idiots... that's the only downside of the PC version...)

Then improve the resolution and clarity of the game.

And give it a 100% smooth 60-fps framerate.

That's XG2 for PC.

It really is amazing how much more fun that game is with a smooth framerate...

Its just a great game! Much better than XG3 in my opinion, for sure... its right near the top of my list of best PC racing games.
This coming from Mr. Framerates-don't-matter??!! Just a few months ago you commented on how it doesn't matter if a racing game runs at 30 or 60 fps.

I've played the original Rayman and it's just another crappy platformer.
Would you SHUT UP? Look OB1, it's just a frickin' list. Do you have to be OFFENDED by it and mad at it? Just shut up and make some suggestions on what you would like to add.

Sheesh, it's very simple, it's ABF's list of good PC games that others can add to if it's fine with ABF. It's not democratic. It's not "fair", but who cares? It's just fun! Don't bother applying "logic" to it, okay?

Anyway, Darunia, good to know that. And another thing, whatever :D.
Yeah, really... if you're THAT mad, make your own list...

As for framerates, they matter when they are very low pretty often. If you've played XG2-N64, you'd know that its way over that line -- the framerates are very low, very often. That is just not okay. It just isn't very playable at that speed! It ruins the fun of that great game...

30 or 60 doesn't matter. But XG2 for N64... well its well below that.

Oh, and Rayman is quite definitely far better than a average platformer. Say what you will, but this isn't one you have any critical support for. I know that when it came out Rayman got quite high scores. And it fully deserves them.

And Rayman 2 is my favorite 3d platformer after Mario 64...

How about instead of complaining, you suggest some other worthy games?
Nice new avatar. Lego peoples are the ultimate warriors! Behold as they run around and try using larger blocky tanks and get fried and shout "Miss Tron!" and so on, and then they throw curry in your face and grow huge and hit you with giant toy hammers, and you try to hit them but they are usually SUPER small and all your attacks miss!
