So how come nobody is talking about this game? Do all of you hate awesome PC-style RPGs? Anyhow, the game is coming out next week and I'm just bursting with excitement. It looks like it'll easily be the best XBox game of the year (and the best XBox game, period), and possibly the best game for any system this year. Here's the first review for KOTOR in case anyone's interested: http://www.unlimitedlives.com/games/abst...1057978138

GR, you sure as hell better buy this! :)
I'll definitely check it out, but I can't promise that I'll buy it.
Bubba, you're gonna love it. There's no way you can't. Read some more about it.
Yeah, it sounds great... I'll have to get it eventually for PC.
I just preorderd the pc version its coming in december.

isnt that sweet dual blades for the good guys!

I wonder if you can make a jedi wookie?
Yeah, we have a while to wait for the PC version.. :(

Oh, and this is Bioware's big chance. Neverwinter Nights was good, but flawed and just didn't live up to their previous works in Baldur's Gate 1 and 2... they better shape up now...
So far the reviews have been extremely positive. IGN gave it a 9.5, Game Informer gave it a 9.5, and Unlimited Gamers have it a 6/6. Trust me ABF, you're gonna love this. It's Baldur's Gate. Star Wars-style!
I'm going to buy it as soon as I can.
You better! Or else I'm gonna drive over to Idaho and kick your ass!
I guess I'm alright then, since I don't live in Idaho, or near Idaho, nor have I ever BEEN to Idaho, or even near it!!
Well one of those southern states. You have a pretty strong southern accent.

It's cool! Don't feel bad that you don't sound like us "city folk".

At least I don't sound like a woman...
Erm

Who sounds like a woman?
You do.
I sound manlier than you ever will, Idaho-boy!
*hits low singing note*

There.

OB1's Kermit doesn't sound like a girl. The song isn't exactly great... but it doesn't sound like a girl. :)
It wasn't supposed to be great! You guys think that I was actually being serious with that song.

Quote: It may seem strange, but Knights of the Old Republic actually uses a slightly simplified version of 3rd Edition Dungeons & Dragons rules both for combat and for character generation. So despite the obviously different setting, fans of BioWare's D&D-themed games will be in relatively familiar territory here. Your main character starts off as a male or female soldier, scout, or scoundrel. These three basic classes roughly correspond to D&D's fighter, ranger, and rogue.

Oh no! OB1 admits he likes D&D!

Because you see, OB1... D&D isn't one gameworld. Its a system of how you play RPGs. Generally it is for fantasy... but it obviously can be adapted for sci-fi too. :)

Its because of the amount of variation between the D&D gameworlds that makes your comments that its "similar looking" so silly... Greyhawk, Planescape, Forgotten Realms, Dragonlance... all so different...
I never said that I hated D&D the game, stupid. I clearly stated that I hate the look of all those D&D games.
But even if we just cover the PC games, they have a fairly wide variety of locations... and I love the look of Baldur's Gate! Great looking game... the location maps are very well drawn.
They're too drab!
Drab? Er... whatever you mean, I disagree. Its a great fantasy world look.
drab
adj.

1. a) Of a dull grayish to yellowish brown.
b) Of a light olive brown or khaki color.

2. Faded and dull in appearance.

3. Dull or commonplace in character; dreary: a drab personality.
Dull? No, I wouldn't say D&D is dull looking...
Well that's because you are dull. You said yourself that you hate the outdoors. What's wrong with you??
Do you guys have to have this exact same debate in two different threads?
I don't hate the outdoors... there's nothing wrong with outdoors. I just like being inside more. But I don't see how that relates to a discussion of D&D art...
It has everything to do with it because it shows that you do not care for the beauty of outdoors (and vibrant colors) and would rather stay inside a dark(er) building. So basically, you like drab surroundings.
You can think whatever wrong things you want, but it doesn't make them true.
OB1: D&D is drab and it only uses dull colors!

ABF: What are you talking about?

OB1: It only uses dull colors like brown and gray and there aren't any beautiful outdoor settings!

ABF: It's not dull at all! It's an excellent game world!

OB1: No it isn't!

ABF: Yes it is!

OB1: You only say that because you like dull colors and drab enviroments!

ABF: That's not it at all!

OB1: Yes it is!

ABF: No it isn't!

OB1: No it isn't!

ABF: Yes it is!

OB1: HA!

*universe explodes*

Well of course it's not objective fact, dummy. It's my opinion. I don't like to look at things with drab color palettes, but you do. Whup-dee-frickin-doo.
The reviewers at gamespot said knights of the old republic is the best starwars product in years he even said it was better then the two new movies.
It's better than the new movies? What the hell? Now they're comparing games to movies? Hey great idea! When I review Mario Golf I'm gonna compare it to this Mario Bros. cereal that I had a while ago, because that would be the smart thing to do!

Reason #123,68,524 why Gamespot's reviewers are complete morons.
Yeah, that is a pretty dumb comment... better than the movies? How do you compare them, really?

Its just that reviewer trying to make another dig at the prequel trilogy... :(
Yes they think they're so "in" when they do that, don't they?
Oh yeah, that's pretty clear. Idiots.
I'd tried to KOTOR today, but everywhere I went either hadn't got it in yet or were sold out. I should be able to get it tomorrow, though.
Darn you X-Box owners and your version months sooner than the PC version!
Alright I got it today and have spent a few hours on it so here's what I think of the game so far:

Gameplay: Controls are good, the camera is pretty good (you can look all the up or all the way down in first-person view, though), and the battle system is very good.

Graphics: Not as good as some screenshots would make you think. There is very little or no anti-aliasing used so the game has a pretty jagged look to it, the textures are for the most part good but not as good as you'd expect from a second-generation X-Box game, and the models are just alright. The framerate isn't very good but it's acceptable for a game of this type. Overall it looks pretty good, but not great. But I haven't been to any other planets yet so it's probably too early to judge.

Sound: Great score, tons and tons of high-quality voice acting, and solid sound effects.

Overall this is shaping up to be quite an awesome RPG. I haven't been this engrossed with an RPG since FF VII.
Sounds good... so the battles are strategic almost to the point of being a strategy game like BG? I will have to get this...
It's a lot like BG, but with only three people per party instead of six. It's easily the best battle system I've used in an RPG before.
This game is better suited for pc anyways so graphics dont matter.

Actually the game is perfect for the X-Box. Unlike most PC-to-console games, the controls are very well suited for a console controller. If you have an X-Box, buy this game!
