Very well. Upon my next visit to ye olde mall, I shall acquire "Eternal Darkness" at Electronics Boutique. Thank you, and goodnight. I'll let you know what that is...
You won't regret it, Darunia. I don't know if they've built a Media Play in Death Mountian since I played OoT, but if so, go there to buy it. I saw it just this week up there for a measly 15 dollars, as Weltall said. Can't speak for Electronics Boutique, but it's tough to beat 15 bucks.
Let's hope he enjoys it instead of poo pooing it like every other GC game.

It would be a bonus if he liked it too.
Quote:Yeah you really do have to buy ED ASAP, Darunia. It's no Metroid Prime ( @ ABF ), but it is a very good game.

ED is action/adventure. MP is FPS-adventure.

FPSes are all well and good, but that genre just isn't one I like nearly as much as some other genres. Such as... oh, action games, or adventure games?

It also has a great, great story and is totally unique and it without many of the frusterations of typical Nintendo games... some of which MP has.

As I said, IMO ED is the better game. But I know most people disagree with me.

I've only poo pooed Metroid Prime, and to an extent Wind Waker and SMS. I like Wind Waker a lot, however, and have warmed up to SMS (though it is still too hard.) I love REMake, as you all know...and enjoy other GC games, so YOU go POO POO yourself!

No, I agree with you. I like FPS and it was a good game, but I got more enjoyment and play time out of ED. Never finished MP either, but I've beaten Eternal Darkness 4 times.
You guys sadden me. :S

And what "frustrations" are you talking about, ABF?

I'll try, but it usually takes 24 hours on the average to do so.
Just so everyone else here knows, UnderTow lacks a small intestine, and it takes him longer to exctete fecal matter. But when he does, it's in large quantities...they had to buy a huge, 15 gallon toilet just for him.
Erm

Point of note, you can tell Darunia never took anatomy or at least can't tell the difference between the large and small intestine, and how the digestive system works.

That is all.

And it's Undertow not UnderTow.
Lol...but you have to admit, that was really, really funny! :)
If you wern't so God awfully inaccurate, it would be a riot. ^^;

He capitalizes your "T", but rarely my "M".

Eden master and UnderTow, the both of you can shut up now!
And spaces! My greatest foe...
HEY EVERYONE, I GOT ETERNAL DARKNESS TODAY! E-Boutique had it for $30, but GameStop had it for $15...their prices are ALWAYS better, I love them. I also had to buy a new memory card for it. Played it at a friend's; my initial comments are:

-Clumsy, simple controls...bad
-Confusing plot (so far)
-Mediocre graphics

...why did you tell me to get this again...?
Well... I WOULD have suggested Silent Hill 2, but you're PS2-deficient.

I suppose it was inevitable. Darunia once again fails to find what's so great about something that most other people think is awesome.
To be honest I don't find it awesome, but I don't find it aweful. I actually found ED to be a bit above average.
GR, I think we're the last two people at this forum that know what a good game is. This place if filled with Mario Sunshine bashers, Metroid Prime bashers, Wind Waker bashers, ED bashers, and worst of all, Quest 64 praising.

It brings a tear to my eye.
We're just honest. You're a NINTENDO WHORE. :stupid:
Rolleyes

Yeah that's got to be it. I should start hating AAA titles like Metroid Prime and Wind Waker and start liking crappy games like Quest 64 and overhyped quasi-games like Xenosaga.

Maybe so, but at least we're happy!

What can I say? It's the sad truth.

Quote:and worst of all, Quest 64 praising.

I can see how someone might think Quest 64 was a somewhat decent game, but with all the great RPGs on the SNES and the PS1 I just don't see how anyone can say that it was a great game.

That's right, independent thinking does not belong within these walls. Curse him!

:nono:

You prefer REs controls? I could never get the hang of em, EDs are simple, and nicely so. Confusing plot?? Wait till you beat it, it all fits into place beautifully. It's like watching or reading a mystery and when you find out the truth, you remember all the little stuff that seemed unimportant but was really very crucial. The graphics aren't superb, deal with it.

We told you to buy it because it's a great game, if you can't realize that, then that's not our fault :D.
Heh, yea it's pretty funny that he thinks the game's controls are clumsy considering learning to play RE's controls is like learning to ride a bike with a single handle bar. :D

There's no need for hate. You just need to either realize that games like Mario Sunshine and ED simply are not the incredible games you make them out to be, or you need to accept the fact that not everyone has your tastes. :)

Wait... you can hate Quest 64. It deserves it.
Quest 64? Sounds like a lame RPG title. I'm sure I got the lame part right at least.
i felt that ED was quite good. good enough for me to play through 3 times.

and it has very tight controls, which makes at least that part of his argument completely null.

the D man can dislike any game he chooses, but he can't bash EDs controls.

oh, and i rather like SMS, MP, ED, and other such great games on the GC...just not Wind Waker.

Perhaps you'd have some authority to say this if your two favorite games weren't Xenosaga and Silent Hill, two fine games but not exactly ones known for great gameplay. They rely on other things to maintain interest, such as story and mood.

Gameplay isn't everything. I like having fun playing a game, but I like being captivated by a great story even more. Thus, different tastes.
Well there you go. I prefer gameplay over story, although a good story can make a game better.
My main arguments are the ...well, lack of music too now that I come to think of it. The graphics looked outmoded (though it was a launch title, I'll give it that.) The controls...hmmm...B seems to do everything, which is simple and easy, but...it's weird because it DOES do just about everything, and I like having different buttons for everything. The plot isn't THAT confusing...and I'm only up to being the Ankor Wat temple girl there. I haven't decided about the game really...

...I LOVE WIND WAKER, IT'S AN AWESOME GAME! I just complained about the repetitive enemies and lackluster, boring dungeons.

Metroid I do not like.

SMS, while a fun, lovable, light-hearted game (and enjoyable), I have a problem with it's difficulty. That is all.

Quest was a fun, colorful, light-hearted little RPG...though it was very short and simple. I'll defend it till the day you die, so just keep right on bashing it...the music was fun, the map was like a painting, and there were SOOOO many enemies (many more than WW ;) )

It wasn't a launch title, it came out several months after the GC was released. It did originally start as an N64 game though.

If you're only up to Ellia, then you must play games slower that I do :). I was at least up to chapter 3 in my first sitting with the game. Music gets better too, IMO. Max's background music and the final battle music are the best.
Well, I bought it Monday, worked 4-11 Tuesday, 4-11 today...and come online about 11-2am nightly...I only played it once, for not quite an hour...so you'll forgive my lack of mastery being that of your own, My Liege.
that's still no excuse to not like it
OB1, PLAY Xenogears!

Xenosaga certainly didn't capture the greatness of Xenogears. You assume too much by saying 'gears depended on story. Not so!

The gameplay was top notch, using not one but TWO battle systems. The mechs actually prooved USEFUL in the first game you see. The normal battle system is pretty much a slightly different version of Xenosaga's system, that is to say, totally unique amazing and fun. The exploration was great, many mini games, fun battles, and good control (even though Squaresoft of America altered it for some crazy reason). The story too is simply amazing, but it doesn't DEPEND on the story to draw interest. Heck, the game even has a decently done 3D 2 player fighting game.

Even without the story Xenogears is simply one of the best RPGs ever made, but WITH it, it becomes one of the best pieces of entertainment ever made! In fact, in my humble opinion, only Chrono Cross beats it out, but it's close.
DJ...,OB1 was talking about Xenosaga relying on story, not Xenogears.
I played it for a few more hours this morning...got off of Ellia, and am not onto the Persian dude back in 525ad. Chapter 4 is it? Anyway, my opinion of the game has been somewhat redeemed, with the addition of magic (who'da thought?), and the exciting knowledge that I'll soon have a gun (found .38 rounds.)
Yeah you should really read what I write, Linda. I said Xenosaga. I have played Xenogears, and quite a bit of it. I just didn't finish it because I couldn't stand the non-stop random battles.
It's almost like you seem to think MY name's Linda. Weird. Actually I never even told you my name. In fact, I seem to remember some conversation about that.

Yeah, I misread it, but what can I say? I love that game.
You're Linda until you give us your real name. Stop making us repeat that.
We've told you a hundred times! It's not like that bit of info is such a hard thing to remember!!

Edit: Hey, OB1, I figured out something that might interest you. It's DJ's name...and, no, I'm not talking about Linda! And, uh, I'm not to tell you because, if I did it would stop being a whole lot of fun. Tootles!

Karim's chapter is by FAR the best in the game. For starters, the music here is excellent, by far the game's best. Second, Karim is one hardy dude, he's got it everywhere. Third, the Ram Dao sword makes Karim a one-man pre-Muslim killing machine. Anthony in Chapter 3 is the only character that even compares to Karim, as he gets that wicked bastard sword... and he's totally invincible to boot.

Don't get too excited about the guns though. They're so useless that it makes you want to cry (exclude chapter 11 because the gun you get there is spectacular!) But remember that all the weapons Alex gets won't be used until almost the very end of the game. So don't get too excited yet :)
Hmmm. Is Karim is the best the game is going to get...than it is indeed a dim, dark world.
The guns are as useful as guns should be, but when you figure out that the swords can easily dispatch pretty much EVERYTHING in the game (save that which needs magic to be beaten) and have infinite ammo, and are more powerful than guns anyway, you quickly realize that maybe the ridiculously unrealistic weakness of knifes in RE is a blessing.
So you like REmake but not Eternal Darkness?? :stick:

I just don't know what to say anymore, Darunia. :shake:
