This is pretty stunning...  MS and Sony for all their efforts are having trouble actually being profitable in their gaming sectors.  Nintendo just keeps being Nintendo.

I remember when I was a Nintendo fanboy as a teenager and was afraid that the big wigs would squeeze out my favorite gaming company. Makes me happy to see them come up on top.
My 12 year old self would have loved this news.  My modern self sees the rot across all giant companies and can't hold Nintendo up as "good" any more (especially with their recent lawsuits shutting down everything down to emulators themselves).  Still, I can't help but think Nintendo's first party games generally steering clear of the monetization strategies that MS and Sony partake in help quite a bit.

(Not that Nintendo doesn't riddle their modern games with DLC costumes... they just hide those costumes inside artificially scarce Amiibo toys.  At least spoofing the NFC chips inside them is pretty easy with a modern cell phone.  I bought a couple ROB amiibo just to open one up and stick that sticker in my actual ROB, so my original NES ROB is also a fully functional Amiibo now.)
