All you console only people will be missing out on one of the best games ever.
Nah, Metroid Prime was better.

;)
I heard this earlier today.... WOW! I had no idea it was already just about to come out!

TheBiggah told me, actually... and mentioned that it was on Yahoo before it was put on the Blizz site. Nothing about coming back to TC, though... though I didn't remember to ask... I did lose some games of Warcraft, though. :)

I guess that my game buying decision was made for me... its summer and I had $50 so I was thinking... Zelda, or the demodisc and something else? Well I think we know what that "something else" is now... :)

We'll see if I need another game before fall.
So ABF, I assume you are trying to subtly imply you speak to The Biggah on a regular basis? Not a bit of subtly there, so I won't use any either.
I think everyone knows that by, oh, a few months ago, DJ...

And DJ, you SHOULD be able to say that too. But you're never online... be online more! We need to play more war3!

Oh, I still doubt this is him... its possible I guess, but I don't believe it yet.

I am sure I will get other games this summer... the question is if I'll play them much, of if they'll be added to the large pile of games that I didn't get very far in because of a whole bunch of reasons... Age of Wonders II (its hard! And I never had the patience to get good...), Civilization III ('cause Civ 2's better (or at least more familiar...) and I never tried to get used to the changes), Dungeon Siege (got kind of boring...), The Last Express (great game... and I never even finished the trip once...), The Longest Journey (sure I'm halfway, but I really should finish it!)... or if you go older, Worms (2, Armageddon... whatever. I got 2 while I was playing Starcraft so it lasted under a week... and I spent even less with Armageddon...), X-Wing vs TIE Fighter (not a great game but not bad enough to only play a few times), X-Wing Alliance (another game I did get well into but not nearly as far as I should have...), etc...

Yes, I have a extremely large number of unfinished PC games. Dozens and dozens, I'm sure.
ABF, go find a copy of Jagged Alliance 2: Gold Pack. It should be fairly cheap.

Trust me, you'll thank me later.
Lets see... more games I really should have gotten farther in.

Baldur's Gate (sure I had to start over twice and had spent several dozen hours on it but that's no excuse to quit less than halfway through...), Baldur's Gate II (didn't play it much... the prospect of a 200 hour game, you see...), Mega Man X5 (STUPID EYE GOLEM BOSS!), Medieval: Total War (vastly underplayed for one of last year's best games)... and some others, I'm sure. Oh, Giants: Citizen Kabuto. I got almost 2/3 through before quitting... I really should go try to finish that one...

As for games I didn't finish, it'd probably be quicker to list the ones I DID. So many...

Oh, I've played the demo of Jagged Alliance 2. Good strategy game...

*is already planning to be somewhere where TFT is available on the day it is released*
Have I mentioned yet that the month until this comes out on July 1 will seem like a year? Its so close yet so far away... I can't wait! :(
Warcraft III was a step in the wrong direction for Blizzard if you ask me. I know I'm the only one in the world who thinks it, and am going to be reamed out by everyone here for saying it, but a fancy paint job doesn't make a good game.
Hmm, well I really don't care about the graphics, as all the gameplay could be done just as well in 2D. So then, why do you think they did a bad job with this one? Sure, it's different than Starcraft, but if you wanted Starcraft then just play Starcraft. That game DOES still exist after all. They purposfully reduced the army sizes one can have, so strategy is more important than quick army building, and made a set of units you must have if you wish to survive, the heros, to really change the gameplay. There are still many strategies one can use, possibly endless. Personally, I think WC3 rocks.

However, I would like to hear why you think the opposite. I'm just curious.

I don't know, for sure. I didn't like StarCraft either. I like Real-time strategy games, but for some reason, Warcraft III just didn't do anything for me. I just couldn't make myself like it, as much as my wallet (sixty dollars lighter) and past experience (enjoyed WC2) wanted me to.
Leave. Now. You insult War3 -- the best game made in the last five years -- then insult Starcraft, which is the best game ever made (and its not really close... except for war3, which doesn't quite have the same magic as SC)? Infidel!

What, you like Command & Conquer or something? Boring rush-rush-rush games where the only "strategy" is how many tanks you can build? :)

Oh, and I paid $30 for Starcraft two days after it came out at EB (after using the $10 rebate they had that ran out a week after the game came out)... where did YOU get it? :)

And War3 was easily worth $75. Easily. And if the collectors' edition had been $100 I'd have paid that too. :)
4 Days! Let the final countdown begin! Defend the base until the time expires to win!
not fair its so close but so far away

I NEED THIS NOW! :( :( :(
I prefer turn-based strategy games to real-time ones.
Turn-based are good too, but realtime is better. I love both kinds though...

For turnbased games, my favorite ones are Civilization II and Disciples II, though there are a lot of good ones -- Master of Orion, Civilization I and III, Disciples, Age of Wonders I and II, Heroes of Might and Magic (II is my favorite, but IV (the newest one) is quite good), Conquest of the New World, etc... there are so many...

For partially turnbased games, the best ones are probably Lords of the Realm II and Medieval... with Shogun behind Medieval. Oh, I'm not sure about Master of Orion... does it have realtime or turnbased combat? I don't remember...

Alpha Centauri is the best.
Right, Alpha Centauri. Certainly better than Civ 1 and 3, but I just have to give the edge to Civ 2... that game was so incredibly good. Its still easily my favorite strategy game after Warcraft 3 and Starcraft.
First reviews!!!!!!!

Quote:The missions are punctuated with various in-game cinematics, as in the original. They are just as well done and further the story without taking away from the anticipation of the next mission. The game ends with one final CG cinematic, and while extremely well done, left me a bit wanting. In all of Blizzard's games, the overriding theme is despair. The expansion does a good job of continuing that theme.

Well that answers that question... not that I had any doubt, given how the Undead are last of the three...

Oh well, they do sad storylines very well...
Dangit, they've done "evil wins" endings to death! For once they should be original and have the GOOD guys win, and not just temporarily!

Oh by the way, got the expansion! Too bad I can't use it on my own computer just yet. I played a little of it on my mom's computer, which is powerful enough to allow me to enjoy it at any rate.
The good guys have won before! But as you say, only temporarially... actually in all of Blizz's RTSes, War1, War3, SC:BW, and War3:TFT have bad endings... War2: BTDP has a medium ending with a good side and a bad side... and War2, SC, and ... wait, that's it... had good endings.

And both of those good endings were negated very soon afterwards in their expansion packs/sequels...

So yeah, they have overdone the down ending. As I've said before one of my biggest problems with War3 is that its story is so similar to SC:BW's story... negative with so many similarities...

What, pray tell, are some RTS games that you do enjoy. Blizzard has always made the best RTS games since WarCraft: Orcs and Humans.

How do you justify yourself when you say that you enjoy RTS games but have just said that you didn't enjoy the two best (as viewed by the majority of gamers) RTS games ever? Maybe you don't enjoy having to expand for resources, maybe you don't enjoy having counterability of strategies, maybe you don't enjoy micro managing, maybe you don't enjoy fair and balanced gameplay, maybe you don't enjoy deep storylines, maybe you don't enjoy polished graphics, maybe you don't enjoy the ease of finding games on battle.net, maybe you were dropped as a child.

What RTS games do you enjoy more than StarCraft or WarCraft III?

I have Frozen Throne and it is worth every penny, as was Reign of Chaos. (got both on day 1)

Or maybe he just doesn't enjoy those two games.
*gasp!* The thought of it!

This coming from the boy who flames anyone who doesn't like Wind Waker just because HE think's it's one of the best games ever? Why am I not surprised that you have a double standard for yourself.

As for great rumbler's comments, DO YOU THINK?!? Honestly, your reply was one of the dumbest ever. He said as much.

I'm interested in what games he likes better than the two games 'almost universally accepted' as best in the genre.
Quote:DO YOU THINK?!?

Why, yes, I think quite often.

Quote:Honestly, your reply was one of the dumbest ever.

Your post wasn't that great either, bubba.

Quote:I'm interested in what games he likes better than the two games 'almost universally accepted' as best in the genre.

It sounded like you were more interested in insulting him than finding out why he didn't like them.
Then why did I ask the question:

Quote:What RTS games do you enjoy more than StarCraft or WarCraft III?
I think EdenMaster liked the Command&Conquer games.

How anyone could possibly like C&C more than Warcraft or Starcraft is a question I can't even begin to answer, though. C&C games are kind of fun mindless tank rush games, but Blizz games are actually games that involve "strategy"... and are many, many times more fun.

Oh, and they also have stories that aren't stupid and inane... and are in fact great, among the best in gaming. Something C&C totally lacks even a hint of.

IMO, noone who dislikes Blizz RTSes is a real RTS fan.

Rolleyes
I feel exactly the same way as A_Black_Falcon does. Blizzard is king of RTS.

All those things I said are features that are in Blizzard's RTS games that aren't in Westwood's. (except for the dropped one. ;))

great rumbler it would be like you saying, "I like 2-d platformers, but I don't like any of the mario games." Which would be a fairly ridiculous comment, IMO.

I'm still interested in the game names that he feels are better than any of the Blizzard games.

Hey I'm the one that always says bubba! You're trying to steal everything that makes me... me! Erm And uh....

I don't flame people for not liking WW, I flame them for making lies about why they don't like it. You can hate it all you want, but if you come up with stupid reasons for hating it then I'm gonna be on your case. So suck it. :shakeit:
