I mean, I have seen all the videos from anti-sj claiming "the left got totally triggered" but I've yet to actually find even one complaint about that line from the, you know, left. Frankly, I thought it was funny. It's a cheap easy joke, "the term demon is offensive", it got a laugh from me. I don't think it meant what these people think it means though. I didn't read anything political into it, but there they are, claiming everyone on "my side" did while they're the ones reading way too much into it.
Which trailer are you talking about?
Yea exactly. Doom Eternal had a trailer with some cheap easy jokes recently. I laughed a little at them, worried maybe som crazies might take it the wrong way, and left it at that. Then they did, they did take it that way, and there's like a billion youtube videos about how horribly "triggered" the sjws are, and not a single video FROM a sjw complaining about it. Fake controversy, basically.
No, I hadn't heard of this controversy and haven't seen the trailer in question, and so I was asking what trailer this is about, because a bit of searching didn't find anything recent other than some gameplay and their QuakeCon presentation. I hadn't watched or heard about anything from QuakeCon, but looking it up a bit more that it apparently where this is from. I watched some of the presentation and I can see why some on the right liked the jokes in that trailer; it is pretty easy to read those jokes as anti-immigrant, as the clearly evil governent is saying how you should try to be friends with demons and such... while of course in reality the demons are destroying the world. Similarly, in their minds, immigrants are destroying society while the government pretends that it is okay...

This video does a good job of covering the issue: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l63nY0AYebI
I found that video too. The key thing is, the message isn't from the government, it's from an evil corporation.
That's true, but being set on Earth that kind of messaging has something of a different feel to it, so I can understand why people would read this trailer as anti-immigrant. I agree, it's a kind of amusing joke that's easy to read a bad meaning to, but on its own it's not too big of a deal... we'll ahve to see how the final game goes to say much more. This clearly is a mostly fake controversy since there isn't much of an outcry on the left about it, but there is a grain of truth behind it.
