If Miyazaki made Water World, we'd have a better Waterworld movie? I don't quite get it...
(Actually though, I thought Waterworld was okay. It's not great, but not terrible. Watched it for the first time within the last couple of years; I didn't watch it back when it released.)
We wouldn't just have a better Waterworld movie, we might possibly have the best of all possible Waterworlds.
We need to find that alternate reality.

Isn't that Grave of the Fireflies?
Did ya know that originally My Neighbor Totoro was released in theaters as a double feature with frickin' Grave of the Fireflies? Imagine if E.T. was originally a double feature with Schindler's List.
Grave of the Fireflies was Isao Takahata's baby, not Miyazaki's.
Fair enough, but it was still an odd theatrical release decision.
That's true, those definitely don't seem like movies which go together at all.
