This has been announced by Nintendo of Japan and the UK, both for the same date, so it's very likely to happen here too...

Quote:The affected applications are as follows:

Nintendo Channel
News Channel
Forecast Channel
Everybody Votes Channel
Mii Contest Channel
Data exchange with Wii Friends*

* Exchange of Wii messages on the Wii Message Board, exchange of Mii characters on the Mii Channel and message/data exchange within some games will be disabled.

They turn off June 28th this year. I don't care much about most of those, because I never use them, but I did use the Nintendo Channel some, so it'll be too bad to see that go away. There was some good stuff there, both in the videos and in the DS demo downloads.
There's nothing to miss there. Nintendo uses youtube links for videos now, and demos are available on their newer systems in a much more streamlined way.

I would miss news and weather, but after playing around with each of those a little, I sorta moved on to getting all my news and weather from my tellular cellophone.

"Some games" doesn't tell us too much. Are they shutting off online play in Smash Bros Brawl? That's the only game I have on my Wii with online play. Even then, I tended to play locally more often than not. Message exchange is being disabled? Does that mean I will lose the ability to send "gift" games to friends? That one's going to sting the most, until they bring that feature to the 3DS and Wii U (both notably lacking "gifting" at the moment).
