To the dumb moron who called me the other day, make sure you have the right phone number before you call someone and start making vicious threats. Someone got a vicious beating yesterday from someone who was actually talking to me. This idiot wouldn't even consider the possibility that he had dialed the wrong number, and when I told him I'm not his neighbor and I'm not in Georgia he proclaimed he was coming over to kick my ass, and slammed the phone down.
I've had someone absolutely convinced I was lying when I said I wasn't the person they called. It's confusing. Does that level of rage cloud one's ability to recognize voices? I'm sorry someone cheated on someone, if that happened, but I'm not involved.

Now please excuse me as I'm trying to steal this guy's bike wheel.

I love how people can hear my voice mail say "You've reached the voice mail inbox of (my voice) Jason (/my voice)" and still leave a message along the lines of "Hey, Erica, this is Amy from Germany, we're all wondering why you haven't been responding to our calls and we're worried about you, so give us a call back." Yeah, Erica changed her number, and it's no wonder--you assholes won't stop calling!

Then there was this incident at work:
Pre-recorded message: Thank you for calling Publix, located at Cornerstone. If you know your party's extension, you may dial it at any time. For the bakery, press 1; deli, press 2; for all other service departments, please press 3. (customer presses 3) To reach the produce department, press 1; meat, press 2; seafood, press 3; customer service, press 4--(customer presses 4) One moment please. (ring)
Me: Customer Service, this is Jason, how may I help you?
Customer: I dialed the wrong number!
Me: ... Ah, okay--
Customer: (angrily) I DIALED THE WRONG NUMBER!!!!!
Me: ... (hangs up)

In retrospect, I realize they might have meant that they dialed the wrong department number, but even in that case, all they had to do was ask for the correct department and I could've transferred them easily.
Yeah, I still get calls, and phone messages, for whoever had this phone number before I did, even though I've had it for several years now and my name is obviously different on the message... it's annoying for sure.
I can't say that I've ever had a redneck make threats at me before.
