Wow, that story had everything, I hadn't heard about this.

I can only image the pure rage that people must have felt playing a game all half way through only to discover the programmers didn't care enough to fix a glitch that keeps you from beating it. The original buyers of this game should get this new version for free plus a $32,000 copy of the original from Ebay.. Each... :) And then and only then when that programmer bastard has nothing left, he should be eaten alive.. By real life cheetah men.
The original versions weren't sold, initially, the company shut down before it was released... but the copies were eventually found and sold. There were just a few thousand copies. I don't know if people knew the game was unbeatable when they bought it... possibly?

Anyway, there's been a big, and ridiculous, internet reaction against this kickstarter, but I hope it succeeds. I know the game is legendarially terrible, but it'd be nice to see some copies of it out there that work, I think... I'm sure that there are plenty of interested collectors, even for $60. I mean, $60's not unreasonable for a repro cart. And this is actually licensed, the guy actually owns the Cheetahmen license. That adds some value too for sure.
Pushback against it? Well, I can sort of understand the idea of giving the creator any money considering how the original was clearly a scam and it's sort of rewarding that original scam. I don't think this, by itself, is a scam when they go out of their way to say "you're supporting a terrible game" right up front... Though I could be persuaded that even an "honest" scam can still be a scam.
