If that's released at $300, then I just found myself a new house/shuttle launch pad.

Seriously, buying something like that for $300 is a SWEET deal! It IS a frickin' house! Plus, at any time you can go outside and play a game, or take the controllers (the controller S for this system anyway), and the TV, inside.
7th January 2003, 2:12 PM
I'd buy that for $300. I need a new to place to stay, anyhow.
7th January 2003, 2:13 PM
I've got it! I now know what MS could do to win the console war! Get into the videogame/retail estate hybrid business! How could anyone pass up a video-game-console-house for only $300??!!

Leave it to nick to come up with one power packed comeback.
Seriously though nickdaddy. Even you, the X-Box fanboy, have to admit the X-Box is pretty gargantuan, it completely fills the kiosk at my local Target with nary a quarter inch on either side of it. It's so gigantic, I'd rather take the nice approximately 6x7 inch GameCube over something that could easily stand in as a coffee table.

House? That thing is bigger than many sizable apartment buildings... and it moves, too! On tracks... and very slow... but it does. Now, the X-Box is portable! Wow! :) If it used batteries, it might compare with long-lasting systems like the Sega Nomad... :)
Anyway, thats a great picture... :)

Oh it's not that overweight. It still fits fine in any entertainment center I've used, and I've been on safari.

Look at a real X-Box. Then look at a NGC. A PS2. a Dreamcast. a PS1/PSOne. A N64. A VCR, even. Or most laptop PCs. It is bigger and heavier than any of those... unlike a NGC (or PS2, I'm sure) it is not easy to transport... I bet it wouldn't fit in my backpack, and I can fit my NGC, N64, several controllers, and most of my games in there if I want...
Of course I know its because of the PC components and HDD in it, but still...

I know that I haven't taken it to my friends' house on numerous occasions based purely on the sheer size of the thing.
And the lack of good games.

Before Nick Burns got his own GameCube (Platinum, the little bastard), I'd bring my Cube over for some Melee with ease in a fairly small carrying bag, and I know from looking at it that the X-Box would never fit in there, let alone the equally immense controller and games.
I understand there must be reasoning for it's mammoth size, but technology is getting smaller and smaller, the X-Box looks like a laptop from the early nineties.

My VCRis bigger and hevier than my XBox, but it is also very VERY old. They sell a suitcase-like carrying case for the box, but why bother moving it? if your friends wantto play, they'll go to your house. Duh.
Oh and that picture is indeed quite funny :)

Excuse me but who use to ask me to bring over either an N64, PS2 or GameCube every other weekend
When I use to carry my PS2 in my backpack I could carrey it, 4 PS2 games, 20 PSX games, A Gameboy Advance, and cloths for the next day. The PS2 is still smaller even if you have a Japanese one with an external HD

The controllers being large isn't a problem any more. MS even publically admitted including the large ones at launch was a mistake. Nintendo would have said something like "The people were so overwhelmed with the amazing power of the controller that they couldn't figure out how to use it properly". Yeah, that's probably an exxageration, but remember how they suger coated the problem with the N64 being hard to develop for?
13th January 2003, 8:40 PM
Microsoft has money to burn and waste on such mistakes, and while Nintendos coffers are by no means light, they do still need to watch how much money they make. The controller setback was just one less solid gold house for Bill Gates.
13th January 2003, 8:51 PM
That doesn't change the fact that they admitted it.
13th January 2003, 10:41 PM
If I get an X-Box I hope it comes with controller-s
Do they all come with controler-s now?

I'm not sure if ALL the bundles come with it, but all the new XBox boxes I've seen have a "includes Controller S" graphic on it, flap style, like the "only on N64" graphics on a lot of N64 games. If you see that on the box, you are good to go.
14th January 2003, 3:00 PM
So chances are that in 6 months when I'll find one with controller X no problem
15th January 2003, 5:49 PM
Hell just go to Cost Co. Every bundle I've seen there have an S. and the bundle godraven got came with 2 I think and he bought a third one. Or he got one and bouth 2. Either way...

No
Costco sucks
I'm buying from Zellers or superstore to minimize the amount of money given to Corprate America

Low-end components (lots of RAM, but slow processor and, I'm sure, a not very good integrated video card)... but still, that size? And that price? Thats cool... the X-Box certainly has a better video card (because the #1 thing that cheap PCs skimp on is a decent video card), but the rest of the parts in that PC are better than the X-Box... not surprising, given the X-Box is a year old and PCs have advanced as fast as ever.
16th January 2003, 10:49 AM
.....woah! That's an amazing cube-like PC there LL! Just hook a moniter and a keyboard on there and you have the world's greatest laptop. *suddenly, the top flips up and both of those are reveiled*
16th January 2003, 1:14 PM
That PC looks pretty slick. Too bad I don't have $1000 to spend on something like that.
17th January 2003, 11:27 AM
I do though. (have a thousabd dollars to spend on that PC.)
That thing is awsome. Only a 1/2 Ghz though.
