Last year I bought a copy of Photoshop elements 8 for my mom's boyfriend one Christmas for $84.. Now a year later it's selling for $90 at the same store same version.

It appears the laws of economics and bent and warped around Adobe products.. Star Trek time warp rules apply.. :)
Like how they sell Photoshop for $700 when it's worth about a tenth of that?
It's because it's aimed at the "professional" market, which is willing to pay those sorts of ridiculous prices. The same is true of Apple's Final Cut which sells for $900 last I checked.

Considering similar capabilities in the open source GIMP software (which really needs to change such an offensive handicap hating name like that if they want to be more widely acknowledged), I really do wonder where all that money is going.
Probably into a scientific study which is attempting to discover how Toven can fuck up an easy word like 'penuts' yet hit a home run on 'depreciation'.
