So every 3-4 years another one of these movies is pumped out. What's the deal with this? It's a VERY specific idea for a "genre". I'm really sick of people switching bodies due to some tiki curse or whatever only to find out just how "hard" the other person has it.

Just once I'd like the twist ending to be that only ONE of them learns that lesson, the other person actually WAS completely right about their life being harder than the first person (let's say a citizen of Somalia changing places with a busy American business man). No seriously, if another medical drama tries to tell me "everyone has problems" as though all problems are equal and the lesson is apparently "suck it up and stop complaining"...
What movie(s) are you talking about, exactly? You don't say.
Okay but I warned you:

Do I really need to explain it beyond that? Every couple of years like clockwork yet another of these stupid things comes out.
That does look bad. The concept isn't necessarily bad though, it could be done well... I guess it isn't usually, though I'm not sure I've watched those movies (indeed, because they don't look that good).

Also, of course you're right that everyone's problems are not equal. However, that'd make a worse movie lesson I imagine, so they don't do things that way... that does make sense really. That doesn't make those movies any better though.

I disagree. Not only would it be a total subversion, worthy of laughter on it's own, it would also teach a better lesson, if only because that's the one more people need to hear.
Perhaps, but is it one people want to hear, or would want to go to the movies and see? I'm not so sure about that...
