Honestly, I hate Microsoft. They have to create they're own file for their operating system in time for the boom of the internet so they can further attempt to take control.

http://www.wma-mp3.com/ . It's time limit as 14 days, I believe...
I use the win-amp cd ripper when i want to make mp3's
