None of those are 3D. The Persona series remakes on the 3DS? THOSE are 3D.
They are WRPGs with 3D graphics, as opposed to WRPGs with 2D sprites or prerendered graphics. I figured that was obvious though.
'3d' you mean 'uses polygons', right? I mean, an '80s style first-person dungeon-crawler wouldn't count?

What about MMOs though...

Best 3d WRPG? Hmm... I don't know about scores, but that is hard... um... these come to mind as being th4e best ones I can think of at the moment that I have played...

-Neverwinter Nights 2 - Probably the best 3d WRPG overall, especially if you count its expansion packs as well.

-Wizards & Warriors - Yeah, I love that game... seriously lacking polish, but it has some of the best dungeons ever.

-Drakensang - Linear? Sure. But it's a really good game.

-Guild Wars - No, it's not an MMO. :) (Though the sequel will be)

-Betrayal at Krondor - Hey, the overworld is polygonal! A true classic too... quite difficult though.

Other decent to good ones that I have played at least some of: Neverwinter Nights (2002), Dungeon Lords, Knights of the Old Republic

I have Jade Empire, but haven't actually started it yet. Similar for Mass Effect, I'm like half an hour in so I can't really say anything. :)

Dungeon Siege gets boring very quickly, it'd be near the bottom of my list, major titles wise.

The Elder Scrolls series, all four of them... I don't find them that fun, but they are impressive in their scale and scope, so it's tough for me to score them -- do I rank them somewhat low, to reflect what I personally think of them, or midrange at least, to reflect the impressive nature of the world-building in the titles?

ONE of us isn't being serious enough.
I finally got around to starting Jade Empire last week. Pretty good game, really. Linear so far, but fun. :)
Jade Empire starts good, but the combat gets repetitive and the last few hours of the game is just fighting and more fighting.
That's a common issue really, isn't it...
More so for Jade Empire.
I should say, so far Jade Empire's story isn't exactly original or surprising... it's fun anyway, thanks to the good Bioware writing, good graphics, and fun gameplay, and because cliche stuff can be fun anyway, but yeah, the plot so far (fairly early in the game, I'm just in the second town doing the quests there, after the extremely predictable "your village gets destroyed" first town) is definitely predictable, more so than in, say, the Baldur's Gate games.
Updated list with a few new games.
Getting back into another, proper WRPG has shown me all over again why I don't really care for MMOs. For the past few days I've been playing, and playing, Divinity 2 [which is actually the third game in the series] and it's pretty good. It's got that janky, maybe it's broken but it's kind of hard to tell that you get from a lot of Euro RPGs, but, at the same time, it's also really, incredibly fun.

It's pretty similar to most other RPGs out there, except that this game actually allows you to turn into a dragon and fly around, which is actually pretty nice. You can breath fire and such and fight other dragon-like enemies. There's also a ton of loot everywhere, which is something that I can appreciate as well.

Another thing that I like about it is its somewhat twisted sense of humor, which crops up from time to time. Maybe it's the the translation from German to English, but some parts seem downright goofy. But it's a nice change from the super-seriousness that pervades most other WRPGs, even if it still does dip from that well quite often.

Environments are nice to look at, with some decent variety, and there's also little hidden places and things to find, so exploring rarely ever feels like a chore.

The main downside is the combat gets pretty repetitive really quick and it's easy to manipulate the game's quirks to give you an advantage. In the game, after a few hours you get an ability that allows your character to jump really high. Well, you can this to jump on top of something and shoot guys with your bow, they can't jump so they just sit there like lumps and get killed [unless they're magic-users or use ranged weapons]. I abuse this quite often actually. Minor gripes there, and in a few other places, but nothing game-breaking.

Basically, I like this game. It's [almost] everything that I like about WRPGs all rolled into one.

Diablo clones are like that. That's why the only Diablo clones I've ever beaten are Diablo 2 and Diablo 2: LoD, other ones I have (Sacred, Prince of Qin, Seal of Evil, Diablo 1...) just get boring after a while, as did Diablo 2 itself after I beat it once.

I mean, all of those games I just mentioned are good games, but Diablo gameplay is inherently very repetitive, and it does get boring.
It's not really a Diablo clone though.
I meant the combat, but how would you describe it, then?
Then what you meant to say was "Realtime action-RPGs are like that", because the game itself is really nothing like Diablo. If you're looking for a Diablo clone, then that would be Sacred 2 [although it's much more open] or Titan Quest.

Divinity 2 and Diablo just both happen to be realtime action-RPGs with single-character combat.
Oh come on, as if Divine Divinity wasn't "inspired" by Diablo? Of course it was. You're right, it's not exactly like Diablo, Divine Divinity has a much stronger RPG component than Diablo, but even so Diablo was obviously one of the primary inspirations. I haven't heard that series has changed that much since then...
Yeah, the first two games were, the third is a departure.

Divinity 2:

-Stronger emphasis on quests and story
-Usually more than one way to solve quests
-Groups of enemies are rarely more than three or four in size
-World is a lot more open and less of a progression through one area and then another
-Ability to transform into a dragon in fly around, including aerial combat
-More strategy in combat than just clicking the attack button over and over
-Full 3D graphics, over-the-shoulder perspective
Minor update to the ranking.
Minor update: Fable and Fable II.
I've been playing Mass Effect 2 a bit off and on recently [after the Lair of the Shadow Broker DLC was released]. I really love this game, I could probably play it all the way through several times and not get bored. Combat is definitely improved, after it dropped the pretense of being utilizing RPG combat and embraced the action side of things.

I'd like to see a party-based, top-down RPG set in the Mass Effect universe, but that's never going to happen. It's just one of those wishful thoughts. Still, the combat in ME2 is fun and it works, so I won't complain overly there.

Basically, the world and characters and scope and presentation and choice are some of the best that the genre has to offer. I can't think of too many that do this side of the game much better. And that's why slots in at #2.

Now, the reason it doesn't get #1 or a 10/10 rating is because it's just a bit too rigid. Most of the sidequests involve doing something for your party members, they've got something in their past that they need help resolving and only Commander Shepard can help. You do the quest and everybody's happy. All of them play out in much the same way. It also lacks the element of exploration that I really like in RPGs, pretty much every planet you visit is a A-to-B line with only minimal branching. This plays into the series having a fast-pace and bigger emphasis on action than a lot of other RPGs. These are mostly just minor things, enough to keep the game from a perfect rating but certainly not enough to stop it from being one of the best RPGs ever.
Did some updating to the ranking recently.
Updated with Deus Ex series.
