The best series I've seen so far this season is Senkou no Night Raid, an action-thriller about Japanese agents in China during the 1930's.
Ah yes, a show about those heroic Japanese agents with superpowers in China in the 1930s... the 1930s, in China, where Japan did horrific and utterly reprehensible things, the worst things Japan has ever done anywhere pretty much. Yes, such deserving heroes.

What's next, a show about the wacky hyjinx of some members of the Waffen SS? I mean honestly...
It's the same as any other show of this kind if you take out the historical connotations of the setting.
But I love history, more than anything apart from perhaps videogames... I'm not exactly going to just ignore the historical background, particularly when they're setting it where they are.

Anyway, I tried watching the first episode. Seems okay, but nothing amazing.

Quote:-Ichiban Ushiro no Daimaou has a very interesting premise, a student at a magical school is pegged as the second coming of the worst dark lord in history, but it’s all squandered on harem nonsense and a parade of panty shots and other such fanservice foolishness. A pity, but hardly a rare occurrence in today’s anime market.

... It's a Tenchi universe spinoff. What, exactly, were you expecting?
Wait, where did you hear that from? Nothing I've seen even suggests that.

There was a spinoff series a few season ago, Isekai no Seikishi Monogatari, but that's totally different.
Oh, sorry, you're right.
Hey, ABF, are you watching Angel Beats? I wasn't that interested in it at first, but after two episode I'm really digging it.
Mentioned it in the first post.

Quote:For the new season, I'm not sure what'll be good yet of course, but Angel Beats might be decent, for what kind of show it is (sad show in unique world with somewhat stereotypical characters, that is)... I have liked some of Key's stuff. I don't know if I really want to watch something sure to be depressing right now though, it's been a tough year so far... I did watch the first episode though.
Ah, I missed that when I was looking over you post.

I wish the character were less generic, for the most part, in design and personality, but this show just reminds me more and more of Haibane Renmei with each episode that I can overlook the minor faults it may have.
