Black and White. Really? That's all you could come up with, Nintendo? We go from fancy-ass names like Pearl and Diamond to bland White and Black? Oh, well.

The release of Heart Gold and Soul Silver has caused my inner Pokemon fanboy to release itself. I'm planning on getting Soul Silver today. With that in mind, I feel excited about these games. I don't know what it is, but there's something about Pokemon that's freaking addicting. Whenever I get my hands on one of the games, my life goes out the window. [Image: icon_razz.gif]

I'll be sure to keep you guys on any news about this new series.

Then they can re-release it in two years as Pokemon Interracial
Eh, this was bound to happen at some point. I just though it would be "light and dark".

Honestly, I'm sick of this "version" stuff. Just release each new game as a single game. If we want to trade, we will, the "unique mechanic" of different versions is just plain outdated, and expensive.
I hear that one of them was going to be called Pokemon Colored but this encountered unexpected resistance at the pitch meeting.

Didn't you hear? Minimalism is making a comeback. Which is good for a lazy guy like me.

I think they should just call every pokemon game "Pokemon", so nobody knows which game anyone else is talking about, ever. They'd have to start attaching qualifiers.

"Do you like new Pokemon?"
"Yeah, but I kinda miss old Pokemon."
"Which one? There's like 20 of them."
"Fuck."
20 years from now, it'll be very confusing mentioning New Super Mario Bros.
Anyone wanna take any guesses on what the new Pokemon will look like?

I'm interested in whether or not Nintendo will announce any new types.
I don't like Pokemon of course, but just as a note, if this really is just a standard DS game, this will actually be the first time that three full generations of Pokemon games are all on the same hardware platform... the original GB had two, the GBC part of one, I guess (the second original GB game was a dual-mode GB/GBC game, but then the later third version of it was GBC only), the GBA two (one a remake), the DS two so far (one a remake)...
How can you not like Pokemon, Faclon?! O.O Pokemon is one of the greatest things to happen to the gaming world.
My sister and younger cousins liked Pokemon in 1999 or so... I thought it was completely stupid, and just for younger kids (remember, I was 16 in 1998 when the game came out here). Tried it for half an hour once, and never again. I mean, I would have said that it's a JRPG so that means a lame battle system I don't like, plus it has no story worth mentioning, and all you do is collect monsters pretty much? Who cares... sounded really dull, and that was confirmed once I tried it. :)

I'm somewhat more used to JRPGs now than I was then so perhaps today I'd like the games more than I did then, but still, the lack of plot, collection-only focus, etc, etc... just don't look interesting. I'd get bored very, very quickly.

The only Pokemon game I actually really like is Pokemon Puzzle League for the Gamecube... which is good because it's a Tetris Attack/Panel de Pon game. :)

Oh, I've watched a few episodes of the TV show on TV before, it's bad but entertainingly stupid occasionally.
What's Pokemon?

I know that these days the original kid and his rival are officially named "Red" and "Blue", but screw that noise. We all watched the show, we all named our hero Ash our rival Gary regardless of what the default was, because we thought it WAS the default Nintendo!
I think I just killed the thread.
What, nobody's going to respond to my awesome reasons why Pokemon is stupid? :p
The battle system is simple, but with all the possible moves to learn and the various weaknesses, there's more depth than you'd think if you got into it. Certainly there were a lot of creative builds to make for them. The story, yes, it's simple, it's just a vehicle to move the game along. And yes, the other big thing is "catching them all", which I totally did! When "them all" added up to 151.
The best Pokemon game is Pokemon Snap.
Pokemon Snap! It's about looking at things! You are a MASTER camera pointer!

This is correct.

It's the only one I played more than five minutes. The only other I tried was Red on my friend's Game Boy, but it didn't really grab me. Pokemon Snap had a dumb concept, but it was fun enough for my friend and I to waste a whole night playing through.
No way, Pokemon Puzzle League is by far the best Pokemon game. It's a fantastic Panel de Pon game, addictive and very fun for hours and hours.

Haven't played Snap, but somehow I doubt it has anything of PPL's staying power, from what I know about it...
