I say kill them, except for Forum 5. The rest will be merged into their parent forums.

What say you?
Terrible idea if you mean destroying the review and comics forums, and merging Tendo and Rumble into one...

I could see merging the two gaming forums and the two other forums, but the review forums would be useless if merged -- the whole point is to separate that stuff, and it's a good one -- and the same goes for the comics. Those absolutely must stay separate -- as should gaming and nongaming, really, merging those would be an awful idea! I want to know what something is by what forum it's in... this would be a very bad idea if you go as far as you're suggesting.

I really like having things categorized. Mixing everything into one big thing is exactly the kind of "organization" I can't stand...

I mean, I'm pretty bad at organizing things in practice, but at least I always try.

For proof of both of those points, all one would have to do is look at my computer's filesystem and my semi-successful attempts to keep every kind of group of files in separate folder trees, with levels for each branch -- so you have the Demos folder with all the demos in it (on that partition), an emulation folder with subfolders for each manufacturer, then subfolders there for each system, then subfolders there for each emulator, the roms, etc. It's the same for music. That's how I do things, and it's how I like it. So no, keep most of the subforums.

As I said above though, merging Tendo and Multiconsole... perhaps. Merging Ramble and Philociraptor, or making Philociraptor a subfolder of Ramble... also perhaps. Those two changes might be reasonable.
I'm not talking about anything you see on the main forum list. I'm talking about the subforums you see inside of the main forums (e.g. Sports Rant, YouTube Videos, Twilight Princess, &tc.), which are rarely used for their stated purpose, if at all.

These are the forums possibly facing deletion

Most of these should have just been individual threads in the first place, and none of them are used anymore.

Merging Tendo and Multiconsole is probably a good idea, though. I support it. It would, by that line of reasoning, suggest that Philoceraptor should merge with Ramble, but I like keeping it separate as a place to occasionally be serious, as opposed to Ramble being whatever you want.
Ah, okay. Most of my concerns are answered. :)

I have had concerns in the past about merging Tendo and Multiconsole, which has been suggested before, because as a supposedly Nintendo forum it makes sense to keep the Nintendo stuff separate, but I don't care about it THAT much. I mean, I kind of like them separate, but if people really want to merge them, that could be okay too. They are similar.

Yes, that's why I suggested a subforum. If you don't like that idea though, because you want to get rid of subforums, then sure, keep it as a separate forum. I agree that its purpose -- of separating out more serious discussions -- is a good one.

The first one of those we actually used, the latter four are all etoven's ideas... so ask him for those, they're his forums. I agree that they're not too important, and aren't used much, but I'm fine either way.

As for the "Twilight Princess Forum", that used to be the 'ever-changing topic forum', I believe, but we abandoned it at some point and stopped changing the topic name... perhaps we should either get back to that or merge it in, I guess.

It couldn't just be merged into Tendo, though; a bunch of the stuff is multiconsole stuff, from the forum's prior names -- anime, WOT, etc. It'd have to be sorted through.
Yeah, I say kill the unnecessary sub-forums (except in situations where separating topics by category is necessary).
Yeah, merge them into their parents and clean things up a bit. I'd also been in favor or merging the two game forums as well.
My name is Darunia S. Goron and I approve this message.

Axe them.
Aww, so everyone wants to get rid of etoven's four subforums? Heh... :)

Yea, even I'm on board with that weird.

What does the S stand for? Or does it not stand for anything, similar to Harry S. Truman?

Oh wait! I know!

Psf. Don't be immature and ignorant, foolish mortal Geno. I'm not goint to tell you what the middle initial is. It's a closely-guarded Goron secret. You wouldn't understand.

Whatever happened to Homestar Runner anyway? They haven't added anything to their site since last year. In fact, Halloween time last year. Did they die or something? Nope, they did add advertisements for their store... blocking part of all their funny pages... Um, seriously did something happen? Did Nickelodeon buy them out and now they're making a cartoon series? I'd watch it.
My guess is that they're struggling financially, hence the in-your-face advertisements of the store. I read once that they quit their daytime jobs back in 2003 because they were making enough money off of their store to get by. This may no longer be the case as the nation recovers from a recession. Why they stopped updating, I have no idea. The best way to attract new customers and get people to buy more of your stuff is to keep putting out new material. Maybe they had to get real jobs again and that's cutting into their H*R time, or maybe they've just completely lost interest in their site after ten years. Whatever the case, I miss Homestar Runner. :(
They should have made some decent coin from that Strong Bad episodic game.
I would think so too. In fact, that's the main thing they're advertising now on their site (it's the ad DJ is referring to that's covering up a chunk of all the main pages). They're trying to get it released for Mac now. I bought all the episodes of SBCG4AP on WiiWare, so I've done my part. I'll see if my girlfriend, who owns a Mac, is interested in downloading the Mac versions.
