Alright, OB1 and ASM, here's a thread where you can argue.
I already told you man, there is no debate. ASM is just spouting off on a subject that he knows absolutely nothing about and is looking like in an idiot in the process.
True, but here is a much better place for him to do so.
OB1, its dumb to say "You've only watched the bad American versions!!!" Uh, why would you expect many people to have watched any other versions...
I don't expect most people to have seen the original versions, which is why I said that. You'd be surprised by how different the original HK versions of these films are over their butchered American releases.
Jackie Chan does his own Stunts , Jet Li uses a body double.
Jackie Chan does a lot of his own stunts. This whole "He does all of his stunts" thing is just something that a bunch of American producers came up with so that people could repeat it. The truth of the matter is that it is impossible for any actor in Hong Kong to do 100% of his own stunts. That's not the way filming works. Jackie does do pretty much all of the most dangerous stunts in his movies (he's even doubled for other characters in his own movies), but if he feels like he can't do a certain flip well enough he'll get someone else to do it. Yuen Biao is most famous for doubling just about every martial arts actor in Hong Kong from the late 70's to the mid 90's, and he's doubled Jackie plenty of times. Jackie still does almost everything, but it's not realistically possible for him to do 100% of it all. There are scheduling conflicts, injuries, and various other circumstances that come into play.

Jet Li doesn't do most of his stunts because he simply came from a different school than Jackie. Jackie grew up learning traditional Chinese Opera at the Peking Opera School in Hong Kong (along with Yuen Biao and Sammo Hung) where they learned how to perform martial arts and do difficult and graceful flips and jumps, while Jet learned more formal martial arts training, Wushu. Jet was a world champion in Wushu from the time he was a boy until he left in his early adulthood to go into movies. Wushu is great for on-screen martial arts as it is primarily a performing MA, but you don't get the acrobatics training as you do in the Peking Opera School. This is why Jet and Jackie's movies are so different from each other. They lean towards each person's particular skills. Jet for great, straight-forward MA and wire-work, and Jackie with more non-traditional MA and plenty of stunts. Jet's movies simply don't lend themselves to the kind of stunts that you see in Jackie's movies. Jet has gotten quite a number of injuries doing his movies, however.
I dont know maybe i've seen to many of Jet Li crap movies but I just dont like him , His american movies have such lame endings the ony good ending was Lethal weapon 4 when Mel Gibson blasted his sorry ass to hell.

The recent movie Bullet proof monk has a really skilled Kung fu master which I feel is far better then Jet Li.

Jet Li is to serious , compared to other greats such as bruce Lee and Jackie Chan . like sticking someone in a cement mixer?
Or how about crutch pounding like Bruce Lee vs Chuck Norris movies.

Oh my God....

Oh please no...

.. please tell me that you didn't just compliment Bulletproof Monk. That is by far the worst "martial arts" movie I've seen in years. Nobody in that movie knows how to fight, and the fight choreography and camera work was as bad as it is in those Steven Segal movies.

Hey I love Chow Yun-Fat as much as the next guy, but his American movies are even worse than Jet's. He also has zero martial arts training, so he doesn't look that great fighting on-screen. So far the only recent Hong Kong actor that has made a decent American movie is Jackie Chan with Shanghai Knights. Don't judge these actors by their shitty Hollywood stuff.

And Bruce Lee wasn't serious??! What is wrong with you! Bruce Lee barely cracked a smile in either of the four movies that he made, yet Jet is always smiling in his (Hong Kong) movies.

Gah! This is like arguing video games with that kid down the street who thinks that Mario is a Gex rip-off and that Sony made the Gameboy Advance!
At least you changed your avatar from that action figure Keanu Reeves to Jackie Chan.
I admit I never seen bullet proof monk , But I still say Jet Li is a bad actor and is a prike.

Bruce Lee humour was the violence , He low blowed chuck norris a couple times in his hong kong movies.

Plus Bruce had that constant "Hiyahahahahah"
Gah, you're such an idiot.
