Stupid Yankees!

:cuss:
They were by far the best team during the regular season and won the playoffs pretty convincingly. I can't see too much wrong with the Yanks winning it this year. And hey, whaddaya know, when the best player in baseball gets 18 RBI in the playoffs, his team does pretty well. Now that we know A-Rod can perform on the big stage (he may have shed his "Mr. April" nickname), I think it's even scarier for the rest of us in the AL East. I bet the whole sports world is as excited for Rodriguez as A-Rod himself now that he finally got a ring.

I was hoping for Pedro to at least not get chased off the mound the way he did. It may have been his last game ever, and with him gone, Vladimir Guerrero is really the last remaining former Expos legend in the league. Both of them should be inducted into the Hall of Fame as Expos.
Pedro did reasonably during the part of the regular season he did play, 5-1 in 10 starts evidently, so if he wants to return I think he'd have a chance... he just struggles against the Yankees evidently, particularly in their park -- evidently even before this, he hadn't gotten a win in a playoff game in Yankee Stadium (new or old) despite having like five starts there before this year.

But yes, it was too bad, I was hoping the Phillies could come back and win it... partially because I always badly want the Yankees to lose, but also because my mom's from eastern Pennsylvania and I still have some relatives there, I don't know if they grew up Phillies fans (my grandfather's from the western part of the state I think, so he probably started as a Pirates fan), but close enough for me to have a slight interest at least. :)

Oh yeah, and yes, there's always something wrong with the Yankees winning a World Series, darnit. They're the Yankees. I don't need any more reason than that (but I could also mention that this is their 27th victory... out of the 107 World Serieses that have been held... that's way too many. :))
Gee, now if the MLB only had a salary cap!

I wanted the Phillies to win because I'm from Pennsylvania, and because Pennsylvania teams were the reigning champions in three of the four major sports until last night.
