From IGN Cube:

Quote:April 16, 2003 - Last week IGNcube reported that in May Nintendo would release a GameCube demo disc with several sneak-peek looks at unreleased games -- in playable form. Today, via a promotional advertisement for the deal, the company may have inadvertently unveiled which titles would be included on the disc, and it looks to be a strong lineup.
Playables on the disc, according to the promo:

Splinter Cell
Viewtiful Joe
Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg
Sonic Adventure DX
IGNcube has also learned that a playable of the US Soul Calibur II will be on the disc.

There could be more playable titles on the disc in addition to these, and though Nintendo hasn't confirmed it, there will likely be a handful of video previews too.

The demo disc will be free of charge.

We'll have more on the disc in the near future. Stay tuned.

Wow, this is the first demo disc Nintendo has ever made (I believe). I bet those Nintendo marketing guys feel real proud of themselves right now.

NOA Marketing Guy #1: Ladies and gentlemen, prepare to be blown away!

NOA MG#2: We present to you... the demo disc!

NOA MG#1: It's amazing! What we did was put a bunch of trial versions of games onto one disc, so that people can sample games before they buy them!

NOA MG#2: Is this amazing marketing or what!

NOA MG#1: I bet those guys at Sony and Microsoft are quaking in their boots from this announcement! No one can match our marketing genius!

*clap clap clap clap clap clap*
Wow! Nintendo learns a new marketing tactic... only 10 years behind the rest of the industry. Not bad... :)
Maybe they'll even start putting demo discs in Nintendo Power!

...

Hahaha! Like that would ever happen. I give them another five years before they start doing something like that.
Nintendo Power... interesting magazine. No other games publisher makes their own magazine... and that SHOULD mean that it would have had demodisks for years now because they own it... it'd be so easy! But no...

Do they not understand how nice demodisks are?

At least they're changing... I just hope you can get the disk other ways than buying a Gamecube...

Prior to the GC launch I got a free PC demo disk in the mail; had a movie of RL and movies of almost all the launch titles. I still have it around...came in a purple GC-shaped envelope.
What he means is discs with actual playable games. That disc just had game footage.
I got a DVD in the mail one day that had Samus standing against a backgroud of the top of a Platinum Cube. It had clips from a bunch of games I already had, were sports games, or sucked (not that theres much difference between the last two)
I'm talking about playable demo discs here, people. Ones that you pop into your Gamecube, not your DVD player. Rolleyes
I'm gonna smack that fucking arrogant green face right off you're computer, OB1.
Haha... well played, Clerks.

But come on, you were asking for it. You confused Gamecube demo discs with DVDs that have little trailers on them.
No I didn't I knew full well the difference. I wasn't sure if you'd taken those into consideration.
*psst*

those aren't demo discs!
I have that NGC non-playable demos disk too... got it in an issue of Nintendo Power I bought...
You can't even play them in your Gamecube.
That is true... its a fullsize DVD...
Mine wasn't, we must be talking about two different ones...it's was a small dinky thing...maybe a little bigger than the GC-sized ones.
That was a PC CD-ROM.
There was more than one? Huh... the one I have came with an issue of Nintendo Power and is a standard DVD.
i got the one darunia is talking about at the cube club. i had to watch it on my comp...it was certainly not interactive.
THAT'S the one, Big Guy.
Yeah, and it came in a little cardboard Gamecube sleeve. They gave those out in just about every store in the country before the GC came out.
Wait a second...that demo disc says "Viewtiful Joe" on it! Oh man, I have to get this thing!
I know! I hope they bundle it with NP or something.
If they do (and hopefully NP still costs $5... :) ) I'll buy that issue, no question...
I'm itching to play that Egg game. I just wish they'd change the stupid name.
Yeah, for a game as good looking as it is, "Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg" is a really bad name...
Update on the demo disk thing, including news of GBA demos! From Games Are Fun:

Holy crap, that's a great idea! GBA demos through the GC-GBA link cable! I never considered that possibility. I just hope that they release the demo disk seperately from the Gamecube bundle.

And Nintendo Puzzle Collection for the GBA??!! Please tell me that they didn't make a mistake! That would be a dream come true!
I suggested a while back they could download demos of GBA games to the GBA, but everyone just said "not gonna happen"!

I assume Nintendo Puzzle Collection will be Yoshi, Yoshi's Cookie, Pokémon Puzzle League, Dr. Mario, and some version of Tetris? I certainly hope they do the same thing they did in Tetris and Dr. Mario for SNES and have a mode where you play all the game at once in a succesion fassion so you get things where the first player has advanced to the Yoshi's Cookie stage while the second player is still on Dr. Mario stage. That was just so cool in Tetris & Dr. Mario, especially getting a "Tetris" on one side and seeing the other side get flooded with bits of junk pills.
Sure ya did. ;)

And having a GBA version of Tetris Attack is enough to get me excited. I think they might have made a mistake though. I haven't heard anything about a GBA version of Nintendo Puzzle Collection.
I hadn't heard anything about a Nintendo Puzzle Collection period! I assume a version is coming out for GCN. Assuming it's a collection of 2D puzzlers, making it portable is a far nicer solution. They are puzzle games after all, they are meant to be on portables! God told me so! God being this guy I know with a very unfortunate name. In fact often when I explain that to people they assume I'm making some really stupid pun-like joke like comedians do. But really, I HATE those kinds of jokes, pretencious as they are.

That's the review of the Japanese version that came out a few months ago. Wow, you forgot that quickly...
Forgot? Nope, never even HEARD of it. I don't exactly go to each and every video game news site constantly, so I miss out on a lot of news.
That's the GC version of Puzzle Collection, but you can d/l some games to the GBA through it.
Dr. Mario 64, Yoshi's Cookie (like the SNES version), and Panel de Pon (PPL/Tetris Attack). Read the review... it seems Dr. Mario 64 isn't too good.
That sounds pretty cool! I must have it! If only for the Viewtiful Joe demo!! Anyone know how you are supposed to get the disk?
