His latest update part 8 with more to come

I was kid when I played it last, Look back on it now, The story was loaded with holes and nonsense.

Its true that the Junction system stank, Although it made the game more challenging, It also made it more tediously time consuming , I had beaten its successors far more quickly. FF8 had more challenging bosses like the ultima weapon and the omega weapon which were 20X harder to beat then the last boss.

Squall had no personality but atleast he wasn't a effeminate vexing twat like Tidus.
Final Fantasy VIII is one of those games that I hyped up to death on myself because I loved VII so much, then I actually played it and thought it was wet ass on a hot day.

But I tried it again a couple of years ago and I actually found myself enjoying it.

Does FFVIII's story have holes? Hell yeah it does. Final Fantasy as a series is rife with them. I still think, overall, it was one of the more compelling stories found in the series. And once you understand how junctioning works (a large factor in why I did not initially enjoy the game), the gameplay is kind of fun, too.

I still won't rank it as one of the series' best, but I think it's underrated (just as I think FFVI is overrated, as time goes by).
I had bought the strategy guide for it, I pretty much did everything possible in the game including the Easter eggs, The FFVIII had the most powerful attacks of any ff game Ive played going over 9999.

Its also the only one not to have a anthropomorphic character , All the protagonists were human.

I think I couldn't have made a fair assessment the first time I played it, I had not played FFVII untill after, I couldn't understand why everyone was ripping the game back then, Obviously like you said it was super hyped because of all the high expectations the fans had.

Noticeably square was more orthodox and old school in how the made FFIX bringing back the class system ,
I loved FF8 then and I love it now. This guy didn't like it, but then again in other reviews he makes it clear he hates the entire Final Fantasy series. At any rate that's fine. I thought his review of Phantasmagoria 2 was hilarious.
For me his only good criticism is the plot holes and how convoluted the junction system is.

That aside, FF-8 was a fun game

Wakka in FFX with 255 strength and a Break Damage Limit ball hitting all three slots on an Attack Reels overdrive: 1,199,988 damage.
I didn't really see any plot holes. I mean as near as I can tell when they all find each other after forgetting each other, the idea is they never really forgot each other and when they met later on were naturally drawn to stick around each other and become friends again.

The junction system was very complicated. That's a fact, but learning it was pretty satisfying. Then again, I loved Lost Levels so maybe I just like to torture myself.
I recently began FF8 anew and I like it pretty well. I haven't been able to play it lately, though, due to school and work consuming all my free time. Still, it is underrated. I don't find the junction system all that hard, personally. It took me a little while to get the hang of it back in the day, but I guess since I've played the game enough in the past to know how it works, it doesn't seem all that complicated to me now.

I still prefer FF7 though. I recently played through it again for the... fifth time? Yeah. Great game that needed no sequels, prequels, movies, cell phone games, novels, or remakes of the aforementioned... though the original game itself could use a remake. Damn Square Enix...

I've played through most of though have not yet beaten FF4 on DS. It's absolutely masterful (except for my one complaint about all the "dead" characters mysteriously returning with no explanation near the end of the game). I also enjoy FF6 and FF9 in spite of a few flaws. Man, I'd love to just spend the entire summer playing through those all the SNES and PSX FFs (except maybe FF5). I'd probably even give FFX another go. But yeah, back to my résumé... I miss being a kid! :Gonk:
What was so convoluted about Junctioning?

Get a powerful spell, see how it junctions to whichever stat you wish to boost, and acquire as many as possible.

Junctioning could certainly be repetitive. But it was also simplistic.
Yeah, that was my only problem with Junctioning. It was a little tedious and I was so used to MP by that point. Also, I hated having to pick which characters could draw, which could use the magic they drew, which could summon GFs, and which could use items. I pretty much let everyone summon and use items, but then some characters couldn't cast the magic they drew while others could cast magic but wouldn't be able to stock up again after they casted all that they had until I changed their menu again. It got quite tedious. For the most part, I just spam the hell out of GFs. :)
