New AVGN
A great start... though the good stuff should come next video, when he gets to the Zelda games.

The problem with the CD-i though, really, is that there are just so many targets! The thing had mostly educational products and FMV games of various kinds... and we all know how good FMV games are in retrospect. :)

Zelda: Wand of Gamelon! Great stuff... :)
The first five seconds are a video clip presumably from Link: The Faces of Evil. It is probably one of the most scarringly horrible things I have ever seen... you'll understand once you've watched the video. Unbelievable...

Good stuff. For some reason, his complaints of the loading screen were hilarious to me ("That's when you drink you're beer"). And I thought that, given the buildup of anger from playing all these horrible games the last three vids, there would be a hugely epic finale. Ah well, still good though.
Really, as far as Zelda's Adventure goes, it looks decently fun, apart from the horrible load times... if it didn't have them it'd be a decent, if well below the standard of any of Nintendo's Zelda games, game, I think. This would be particularly true if the CD-i had more buttons... but that's not the game's fault.

Plus the live-action video isn't as cringe-inducing as the animated stuff of the sidescrollers...

The two sidescrollers, though, do clearly look completely annoying and horrible, as their reputations say. :)

Do you want to get banned? I can tell you that they don't tolerate this sort of thing , I got banned myself several years ago for doing exactly what you did, They only let me back in after some serious ass kissing, I am only veteran member who isn't a admin despite being here for years all because of the juvenile acts I made long ago.

I am trying to be your friend here so take heed to my warnings and delete those posts.

If you want to spam similes start a new thread,Don't fuck up this one!!

Dmiller doesn't own this place Ryan and etoven do, If you really are Dmillers friend don't do anymore of this or else you'll get him in trouble too and he will be mad at you.
Dmiller had his oportunity to prevent this, when he admits fault we will seize fire!
We could just delete annoying posts like that (the long ones full of smilies, in particular). I checked the IPs, and you are right that we can't IP ban them while they post at school, the building has one IP address and we don't want to ban DMiller from posting from there too, probably.

Why Remake "the thing" WTF! Have they loss their minds?

So it made sense to remake it the first time and create something more faithful to the source material but to do it again 26 years later is unnecessary!!

Whats next for Hollywood to rehash and churn out?Alien? Star wars? GhostBusters?

The angry video game nerd is awesome.
Indeed. :)
New AVGN (Bible Games II) is available on ScrewAttack right now. And it's a Christmas special! I'm going to watch it later tonight.
Here's the video...

Ya know, Race to Sunday School actually looks like a pretty good game.
Really? Looks pretty horribly frustrating, in a lot of the wrong ways... not necessarily objectively terrible, just way too hard.

Ive scene the million dollar War of the worlds remake with the crab mechs, The effects are not comparable to Steven Spielberg but are obviously better then 5,000 dollar remake and has better acting,That films depiction of the martians are allot more like the 1950's WOTW aliens.

It has a similar plot to Spielberg film, Except the main protagonist was a scientists rather then a scientologist, Another interesting difference was the character of Pastor Victor who tried to interpret the invasion as Armageddon but was even begining to doubt his faith as time went on, Jake Busey was pretty cool as a nut case mad Soldier.

Like Spielberg film the main character seeks to find his wife and child.

The 5,000 dollar film wins points for atleast trying to be faithful to the book. I cant really recommend any of them.

Its a dumb idea to release these films all at the same time.

Michael Jackson's Moonwalker (Genesis). Decent episode, but the game clearly isn't all that bad, so he's trying to find the aspects of it he dislikes... something you can do with any game. I think he's funnier when the game clearly is truly terrible in some significant ways... but still, solid episode. :)
That episode was pretty awesome. Sure he's nitpicking (as always), but the funniest part was all the Michael Jackson jokes without taking the all-too-obvious route. The Genesis 16 Bit "like in your face bitch!" made me lol.

Milon's Secret Castle... haven't played it, but yes, its annoying randomness is well known. I can't imagine ever actually WANTING to play that thing.

I've heard that the sequel, DoReMi Fantasy for the Super Famicom (was Japan only at the time, but it's on Virtual Console, or play it emulated with a translation patch to actually know what people are saying!), is more fun and much less random, but the first one... ouch.

Older games loved to do this kind of stuff, but as I said in the 'games I finished' thread after I finished Zelda: Link to the Past, I really don't like that kind of thing at all... (DMiller, can you defend this one too? :p)
That last ep was kind of a lazy effort by the Nerd if you ask me.
Here's a vid of somebody finishing Milon's Secret Castle in 6 minutes:

How did Lucas ever churn gold the first time?

If you want a much more thorough ripping of the prequels

<embed src="http://blip.tv/play/AfDDaJS5Qg" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="640" height="510" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed>
I don't dislike the prequels, so no, I probably don't. :)

... Really, they are good... RotJ is my favorite Star Wars movie, but I'd say that RotS and ESB are tied for second, for sure. RotS was indeed great... AotC was pretty good too, and aside from Jar-Jar I like TPM. I find politics and such interesting, so I have none of those complaints about the political themes being "boring". They aren't, they're actually quite interesting! And even with Jar-Jar, I think the character concept -- a person cast out of his people for things that are no fault of his own -- to be very well done. It was only the juvenile, childish execution, and the lame jokes he does, that bring his character down... Jar-Jar is the weakest part of the film. But even that isn't nearly as bad as many people make it out to be.

As for the Special Editions, I thought they were mostly fine, watching them in theaters back in '97. It was just so awesome to be able to see the movies in theaters, in a way I of course couldn't have in their original releases! Most of the CG stuff worked; sometimes it did stand out, but it's mostly not so bad. I do agree that they should have kept Han shooting first, though... but my main complaint about the Special Editions isn't something he even mentioned, actually. It's the ending. Now, he mentioned that bit where you hear Jar-Jar in RotJ (which I definitely never noticed); but what annoyed me wasn't that, but that that came at the EXPENSE of the awesome Ewok party celebration song ending! What would Star Wars be without the "Yub-Yub" song... :(

Other than that though, the SE changes weren't bad. I like the original versions too, and the only versions of the original trilogy I actually own are the originals (on VHS), but I don't hate the changes or anything.
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/qWhM9O1ISbs&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&feature=player_embedded&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/qWhM9O1ISbs&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&feature=player_embedded&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
That's awesome... the ending song in English... awesome. :D (or should that be :lol":? :)

Here's Part I of the Star Wars review, with the classic trilogy.

:)

Zool 2 instead of Rayman or something is a questionable choice (Zool 2 is a DOS/Amiga port, so of course it's 16-bit style, while Rayman was a Jaguar original, and limited-time exclusive...), and Checkered Flag might have been better compared to Genesis Virtua Racing, 32X Virtua Racing Deluxe, or SNES (Super FX) Stunt Race FX, rather than Mode 7 F-Zero, but overall, pretty good. I mean, F-Zero clearly has better gameplay, graphics, and style than Checkered Flag, but wouldn't it be more fair to compare it to competing polyagonal racing games?

As for Star Fox vs. Cybermorph, Star Fox does clearly win on music (Cybermorph has none ingame...) and artistic design, but its abysmal framerate hurts it a lot, and he didn't mention that. Cybermorph's looks a bit higher, though it does also have a terribly close draw distance, and it's free-roaming instead of a rail shooter, so the gameplay is different. Haven't played it so I can't say how good it is... Star Fox is likely the better game, though, sure. But unless your cart's overclocked or you're playing it emulated, that awful framerate is brutal, like all polygonal 3d Super FX games.

Overall though, nice summation of Atari history, and a great leadin for the next video... definitely looking forward to it. :)
Yeah, I liked how he told the history of Atari too. He's getting really good at becoming a narrator. I thought Rolfe's two-part Star Wars review was the best stuff he's done yet.

I also like the little things that piss off the Nerd that show up from time to time, like not having end labels on the cartridges (seen in this last vid) and when platformers have the B button for jump instead of the normal A. Seemingly insignificant problems and only minor distractions maybe, but a big enough deal to worsen your opinion of the game.

EDIT - Oh yeah, don't forget games that have long, complicated passwords, which he often gripes about.
The jaguar could have been a good console, They marketed it wrong, Its true that all the numbers in the world wont do any good if the developers cant even utilize it.

It had no 1s party developer that could better showcase the console and give a killer app, Nintendo had shiggy and Sega had their arcade games.
