Sierra died years ago. Of course this dismemberment is sad, but... this wasn't Sierra, this was another company just calling itself Sierra. Sierra is gone... though I will admit that it was kind of nice to see them bring back a few franchise names recently, even so. Sierra died years ago. Seeing this thing dragging itself around calling itself "Sierra" while doing things like making an Aces game... a rail shooter has been kind of cruel (sure it's a good rail shooter, but it's a rail shooter!).

And, of course, there's that little "Sierra/VUG has had problems for years (financially, etc)" issue that is the whole reason this happened in the first place...

But anyway, sadly, I think the article is right, someone's probably going to resurrect Sierra again. It's inevitable. The question is, how?
Bring back old names? Like the terrible Leisure Suit Larry game? Like the collections that, rather than actually contain updated games, merely emulated DOS versions of games (at least one of which is worse in DOS, KQ6) and ditched large numbers of extras included in the old collections?

I know that at least they tried, but really everything they do lately is more or less an insult to the old Sierra. Currently they don't really even exist as designers but rather just as a name to put on things. It's good that the mottled body of this great beast is finally put to rest.
Most recently, I was referring to a couple of Sierra's XBLA games -- the 3d Ultra Minigolf one and Aces of the Galaxy, a rail shooter, to name the ones I remember. And yeah, there was that awful Leisure Suit Larry game a couple of years ago, and the quite poorly done collections.

But yes, everything they have done recently is indeed an insult to the old Sierra... that was my point really, that because of that fact, I won't really miss the Sierra name if indeed it goes away as a result of Activision's new Black Monday.
