I meant being able to get ouf of your vehicles and walk to a different one, or simply run out and blast some Storm Troopers (or Ewok babies :D ). It could be like GTA or Body Harvest, only more limited.

And they better have that speeder bike sequence I've been speculating about!

Damn, only a couple more days to go before the game is unveiled.
http://www.lucasarts.com/e3/

No dates in their e3 site for product unveilings...

Oh, and the Jedi Academy gold guy animation is very cool. So is Gladius... but the Galaxies one isn't as good.

And getting out of vehicles should only be done if its done well -- none of what we got in Clone Wars!
This is Factor 5 we're talking about, not Lucasarts.

And it look like they're going to unveil eight new games at E3. Toasty!

Let the speculation begin!

I predict another Fett game, another strategy game, and maybe even a new racing or fighting game. Perhaps they might want to make a non-sucking fighting game. Who knows?
Cool; thats exciting. The more I think of, the cooler it'd be to get away from just vehicular combat. Ground missions would be alright; and Ewok combat would be awesome. I just home they won't have any lame Prequel missions...which is unlikely due to the title being 'Rebel.'
No, like usual I expect them to slowly unveil most of them one at a time as the weeks towards E3 pass...

Hmm, what will they be. Some might be games already announced... Totally Games' WW2 flightsim, Sam & Max 2, Full Throttle 2... and how about RTX Red Rock (PS2 only)? All are upcoming Lucasarts games...
Only one more day before the game is unveiled!! Post screens here as soon as you get 'em!
Who cares about RS3 when we've got Secret Weapons over Normandy? That game looks great! Sure, it won't exactly be a sim since its coming to X-Box and PS2 as well as PC, but hey... that's good. Hardcore flightsims are so hard... I like them more arcadish.

Though given how it is a flight game I can't see why anyone would want to play it on consoles when it'll be a dozen times better on a real joystick...
Who care about RS3---??

I'm not talking to you anymore.
Can't you take a joke? Guess not...

Of course I'm looking forward to RS3... I'm looking forward to SWoN more, since its Totally Games (one of my favorite development teams...), but I will look forward to RS3.

And hope they make it a bit more sim-like and more like Totally Games' Star Wars flight sims. :)

Seriously, it gets tiring wiping the floor with squadrons of TIEs and slaugtering Star Destroyers... I prefer the much more challenging and deep environment of the sims...
It's coming out for the X-Box and PS2 as well, so it won't be a real sim.
I seem to recall acknowledging as much and saying that I didn't mind, since I like action-sim flying games.... and it'll hardly be a RS. It'll be some hybrid... like Crimson Skies is on X-Box, maybe?
In your own words, can't you take a joke??!!
Uhh.... Erm
FWAP!
No comment on the game itsself, though, OB1?

Sure, a SW game would be better, but this is what we're getting...
I'm looking forward to it. But not as much as RS, of course.
Who wants to join me in declaring an official state of war on OB1...?
...

Erm
Ok, I have a couple of more details on Rebel Strike. According to IGN, it'll have 1-4 player multiplayer support and is coming out in November. Yay!
ALRIGHT! About time GC got a meaningful multiplayer action game.
Yeah... because like, Smash Bros and Ikaruga don't have any decent multiplayer...

But yeah, it's great news.

This wait to get screens is killing me, though!
Four player! Awesome! It'll be Factor 5's first multiplayer Star Wars game... and well overdue. Great news... :)
Thats right, OB1, they dont. Cool
You're nuts.
Wow, I am too...I didn't like Metroid Prime, I thought WW was only good instead of the best Zelda ever, and now I'm challenging the supremacy of SSB in the multiplayer genre!Drunk
You're totally insane. So many of you Tendites are so insane that I'm starting to feel insane.
You know what this game needs? Ground missions.

Hurry up finding the screenshots, people. I sure as hell won't take the initiative to do so. I got class soon, anyway, but in 3 hours, I BETTER SEE SCREENS!
I've been sitting in front of my computer almost non-stop since late yesterday waiting for gamers.com to post the damn screenshots (Crispin from EGM and gamers.com said they would post it at noon today) and here's what the motherfuckers at gamers.com just announced:

Rogue Squadron 3 pictures delayed

By: D. F. Smith April 22, 2003 1:12 PM PDT

We are sorry to announce that pictures of the upcoming Factor 5 game, Rogue Squadron 3, for Nintendo's Gamecube will be delayed till tomorrow due to a distribution glitch. We feel it is only fair to those without internet access.

We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you

AAGGGHHH!!! WHY?!!!!
I hate them now.
So do I! I'm a subscriber and I always get my magazine late, so seeing it on their site should be compensation!
Ok the bastards still haven't released any screenshots yet, but they have written up a little synopsis of the game:

Quote:Exactly one thing about Star Wars Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike--the laser-hot GameCube-exclusive sequel to Cube-launch hit Rogue Leader--will not surprise you: When the game zips from hyperspace this fall, it'll pack a level on Hoth, the tundra-topped planetoid that has served as a seemingly Constitutionally mandated locale in nearly every Star Wars game set in the classic trilogy. "I can't remember how many times we've gone there," says Julian Eggebrecht, president of Rogue series developer Factor 5. "To quote the guys in the meetings at LucasArts [Rebel Strike's publisher and co-developer]: 'Are you nuts? You want to go to Hoth again?'"
But Factor 5 didn't return to the ice world just out of habit, and we guarantee Rebel Strike will have you doing things on Hoth that you've never done in a Star Wars game before. You'll just have to pick up the June issue of EGM--which hits newsstands May 6 (subscribers get it this week)--to see how Factor 5 has re-written the rules of the Rogue Squadron games.

Meanwhile, you'll find several hints in the seven exclusive screens presented here. For starters, it looks like players can now exit their vehicles, eh? And when they're not blasting stormtroopers in third-person levels, players will hop aboard everything in the Star Wars trilogy that moves--from whizzing speederbikes to chicken-walking AT-STs to ponderous TIE Bombers (which fire multiple lock-on missiles Panzer Dragoon-style). But the ultimate surprise: Expect the most souped-up two-player cooperative mode ever. Let's just say that once you play Rebel Strike's cooperative campaign with a pal, you might consider selling your used copy of Rogue Leader. You won't need it.

Enough with your Jedi mind tricks--we're not revealing any more info. You'll just have to pick up the June EGM for all the exclusive details and nearly 40 screens you won't find anywhere. Oh, and come back here in mid-May for a spectacular two-minute gameplay movie that'll rule the galaxy.

Waaaaaaaaa!!!! YES!!!! My speculation is coming true!!!! WOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!
Awesome!

Well, for a classic trilogy game... I love the classic trilogy, but it is true that it's been done 15 times before... oh well, as long as its good that won't matter that much. I'd just like to see more original games set in the NJO or the NR eras...
Holy shit; co-op and extra-vehicular combat...wow, this should be fucking awesome!! But still, I don't know how excited I can get about Hoth again...unless maybe it's a really awesome extension ike level 2 of SotE.
That sounds totally awesome!! Piloting AT-STs?! Holy grandma on a stick!!

*prayes for the use of AT-ATs*

You know that woud rule.
All of my speculation is coming true! Now all they have to do is confirm that you can blow up a Walker like Luke did in ESB!
OH MY GOD!!!! OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!

EVERYTHING I speculated on before is coming true!!! EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!!

HOLY FUCK LOOK!!!

LOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Go to Gamers.com and check out the screens ASAP!!

(someone please post them for me! I'm at work)

Beautiful. I might just have to buy this game...
My good God... can you believe that everything that I thought would be in the game has come true??! I can't believe it!
Wow. Just wow. Everything is there... except for multiplayer confermation... it looks like we'll get the other half of the movies this time. :)
Down right amazing.
Quote:Wow. Just wow. Everything is there... except for multiplayer confermation... it looks like we'll get the other half of the movies this time.

Except for multiplayer confirmation? Did you not see that last screenshot??

Apparently, the co-op mode will allow you to play through all of the missions from Rogue Leader! How cool is that?!

And judging by that Chewie screenshot it looks like there may be a mission or two from A New Hope.

I'm so excited!
Didn't notice that that one was splitscreen... and I doubt that you play multiplayer campaign in RL's game... it seems more likely that you'd play RS3's campaign... and I guess that the Death Star Attack level is in that game for some reason. Though it does seem odd.

Oh, and Factor 5 sure has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that they are able to do more graphicall with the NGC than anyone else...
ABF: read this quote from Gamers.com more closely:

Quote:Expect the most souped-up two-player cooperative mode ever. Let's just say that once you play Rebel Strike's cooperative campaign with a pal, you might consider selling your used copy of Rogue Leader. You won't need it.

Why would they say that unless you could play all of the RL levels in co-op mode? And that Death Star trench scene is exactly the same as the one in RL.

I just hope that you can play through the R3 levels in co-op as well, especially in the speeder bike part.
But how would they fit all of RS's levels AND all these new levels on one disc?
The levels themselves don't take up much space; it's the FMV and sound files that do. And the guys at Factor 5 are the kings of audio and video compression. I'm sure they'll put that great DIVX technology to use.

Or they could always make it a double-disc game. The first one for single player and the second for multiplayer. It's not a far-fetched idea.
That would be awesome... it'd cut the future sales possibilities of RL, but at this point those don't matter too much anyway so oh well...

Oh, and I know I'm repeating myself, but those graphics are so incredibly good... significantly better than most current games...
Yeah. They do look early and in some of those screens AA is turned off, but overall it's looking great. I'm more excited about the awesome new gameplay features, though.
I stole this from the ign boards:

Wow. 61 TIEs, and I'm sure there are more in that area. I bet what they're doing with the engine is just making sure that it's as pretty as RL but able to handle smoother framerates and many more things on screen at once.

Now I feel like playing Rogue Leader. :D
Wow. That's...that's really all I can say...Wow. Totally awesome. Factor 5 really knows what they are doing.
