Neogaf.

This is looking good for several reasons. One, we're getting two exclusives on Wii. Two, it's going to really push lazy developers to up the graphics front end of their projects.

Data for Resident Evil 4: Wiimake

(Obvious) new control schemes using the wiimote and nunchuck. (a rumor that Nintendo is also releasing the 'Blaster' (the new zapper) coincides with the release of RE4:W).

New playable characters/missions

Lots of new bonuses, weapons, capcom says 'way above and beyond the PS2 bonuses'.

Shiny new effects, more enemies on screen, new areas to explore.

*raises hand* Sold.

RE:UC has me confused, so far its pretty. All the richly crafted nice-nice of REbirth in fully realized 3-D, no static backgrounds. As well as covering like what, the stories and characters from like 9 of the games in the series? So we could see areas from RE3, CV, etc. Sounds good. But.... i'm hearing its an 'on-rails' first person game... that shit make me vomit.

Check out the screens, the RE:UC screens look grainy to me, but that's cuz Capcom's VP in marketing is retarded and probably applied a filter to make it look grittier, I expect smoothnessity as in RE4 but, we wait and see.

"I LIKE POTATOES"
RE4 was a ton of fun on the GC, but I don't I think I'll spend another $50 on it just to get some upgrades and bonuses.

Umbrella Chronicles on the other hand, is definitely shaping up to be an interesting game.
I've never owned RE:4 (but played it a few times on a friend's PS2 and liked it), so this is good for me.
I never got it for Gamecube, as when I finally felt like it, they released a PS2 version with a bunch of added extras (but worse graphics). Also, I got distracted by other great games so I went without.

Now my patience is paying off. I'll "have it all" with the Wii version, unless Capcom goes and releases a superior-er version on the 360/PS3. I guess I'll wait until the Wii version's been out for a while before getting it, just in case.

Previous attempts at RE shooting games weren't very good, though, from what I know... hopefully this one will be different?

As for RE4-Wii... well... the Wii sure is a popular console for GC/PS2 ports, isn't it... but I guess that was inevitable when Nintendo decided to make it so much weaker technologically than the X360 and PS3.
Resident Evil: Gun Survivor
Bring back any memories lazy?
Nintendo IS innovation! Let's all play Mario Party 8!

Mario: I'm all partied out.... I'm gonna go lie down...

I haven't played them, but I don't think I'd want to from what I've heard... but Umbrella Chronicles has good press so far... we'll see. But yeah, I'm hardly expecting something the equal of the main RE games.

No. Futurama.
I'm anticipating UC to be gore-heavy, over the top blood n guts. With Manhunt coming to Wii, I think alof of the staple developers are going to tread water in the M market on Wii.

Godfather Blackhand is already getting higher scores just because of the motion controls with 'You feel like you're really strangling someone to death' being a common phrase in the reviews. So I think the times, the are a changin.
To what? 14 year old boy land? Mortal Kombat, Doom, all those cheesy horror movies? This isn't anything new, it's just that for some reason people want over the top gore.

RE used to have somewhat milder violence, at least somewhat realistic, but I guess it's back to 30 cubic megameters of blood from a pin prick style violence. Oh well... I guess we got to use that extra graphics power to render something, and what better thing to render than a human corpse (you people BETTER get that pun, or I swear I will CUT you).
He means a trend of gory/"mature" games could be released for a Nintendo platform, which would be new. Most of these types of games are released on Sony/Microsoft's consoles.

I didn't know Manhunt or a game where you can strangle people (too bad it's a movie game) were coming out on Wii. Good news all around. I always thought Manhunt's premise sounded cool, and it was on the list of games I would buy if I ever gave in and bought a PS2 (which I expect to be dirt cheap by the time I actually do buy one).

Maybe they changed the game's style for REmake, but over-the-top gore and a goofy storyline is something I've always come to expect from Resident Evil. Giant mutant spiders and plants, and re-animated corpses? All from the same virus that was inexplicably created by a big, evil corporation? And it all takes place in a spooky mansion that the owners felt the need to infuse with complex puzzles? How realistic is that?

This is like arguing that the remake of Dawn of the Dead was stupid, because the corpses ran instead of staggering. ...it's a movie about ZOMBIES. Arguing about suspension of disbelief is a little silly.
There's levels of realism, on a scale from Normandy to Mushroom Kingdom. Blood for it's own sake always seemed idiotic to me, that's all. Basically I want realistic or LESS, but never more.
re4 was pretty realistic in terms of the gore factor, but a shotgun to the head will always result in massive ickiness.
Not to mention, all too often, the whole "they fly back about a million miles" thing shotguns tend to do. I will give the possibility that a shotgun can be super powered to the point where that actually happens, but unless the person is firing it while it is attached, braced if you will, by a solid concrete barrier, I'd be surprised to not see some major damage in an equal and opposite direction.
