It's game where there's lots of snow and giant bugs burst up out of the ground and you shoot them with various weapons. That's the game in its entirety really. Of course it also has nice graphics and music and lots of explosions and stuff of that nature.

My impression of the first thirty minutes: Man, this game is totally awesome!!

My impression of the second thirty minutes: Man, this is starting to feel kind of...samey...and the controls are dumb.

So...whereas Gears of War provided a solid 7-8 hours [give or take] of intense run-and-gun bug blasting awesome, Lost Planet seems to fall into the trap of "I really don't want to shoot the same guy for the one thousandth time because it feels as though there is no point". Gears definitely has the survival aspect in its favor and the fact that getting killed as much easier. Lost Planet has tons of ammo scattered everywhere and getting killed requires you to either fall down into a [near] bottomless pit or run out of energy. Energy is everywhere. If you kill a monster, you get energy. If you kill a snow pirate, you get energy. It's used for powering the mechs and using energy guns as well as giving you a boost jump and automatically healing you when you get shot or hit by a giant bug.

It's plan to see why this game is not getting 9's and 10's across the board, having said that, the game is still fun. Fighting snow pirates really sucks though...

Yeah, it's getting 7's and 8's. But I shouldn't say anything more, going by what happened after I said I played the demo for a few minuites in the store a while back... :)
