I thought places would be taking preorders for the Wii by now since the price is know, but EB and Gamestop aren't, and I didn't feel like driving all over town to find someplace that is. Has anyone been able to preorder the Wii yet?
I haven't even really looked into that. I probably won't until the first of next month.
no
Alot of stores dunno how many systems they're getting in the first shipment. Nintendo World Store is getting 'Thousands' and then another shipment less than a week later.

If i'm correct in my assumption, the Nintendo World Store might be getting more loving now that Reggie's in charge.
My local GameCrazy isn't taking preorders at all.

I'm thinking of burning the place.

No, actually, the guy said for some of the more regular customers, if you preorder two games and renew the stores membership card thingy, he'll set one aside for you. So I'll probably jump on that. Preorder Brawl and Galaxy or something.
I'd preorder games that are actually being released at launch.

I myself hate how they keep pressing me to preorder everything, or say "remember to bring in your used games for trade", as though I forgot or that would actually be desirable! I avoid preorders at a certain distance because if they eventually have a preorder bonus, I've missed out. If they cancel it, I've missed out. If someone buys it for me for whatever reason, I've wasted money. Let me make this clear. When they say they will "refund" your money on a preorder, they mean store credit. Let's say that's the ONLY game there I will ever want, for a long time. That $5 is gone, GONE! Hijacked!

So yeah, I don't preorder very often.
I only preordered once, and it was for Guild Wars, where I had to to be able to play the last few betas... and then I didn't get the game fast enough after launch and had to pay the full $50 on top of the $5 (I think) I'd spent on the preorder. Oh well...
What's wrong with store credit? Sooner or later, you'll be spending money there ANYWAY so what's the problem?
Sooner or later I'll spend money there anyway? Well first of all what if I'm pretty much broke at the time, or what if I was NOT in fact ever going to buy anything from there again (for example, that place is pretty frickin' far away). What if I wanted to spend it elsewhere on a book or something?

There's 3 problems with store credit.
It's $5. If you're that broke DJ I can send you $5 in the mail.

I usually preorder big games that I want to get at launch. I've done this for all the Zeldas since OoT, and I did it for Final Fantasy X, but that's about it. I just want to make sure I have a Wii on launch day because I've been worried hearing people talk about the Wii who have never touched a videogame before.
I'm just going to prepurchase the entire thing on a credit card to make sure I get one at launch. I heard EB will be offering a 30% increase on trade-ins if you spend the money on Wii or PS3, But I dont have that many games i'm willing to trade-in.
