Hey folks... I have a laptop with no seconday numerical digits... i.e. that for number keys, it only has the top row, and none on the right-hand side. Now, as a French major, to get the extra accents and all, I would normally pull an Alt-0169, etc. for what I need, but without the seconday digital keypad, I cannot... but there must be a way...

Help me, Tendo City, you're my only hope.

Best regards,

Barry
You have two options.

1. You actually do have a secondary keypad. That's what your Fn button is for. Your keypad digits should be somewhere on the keypad, responding when you have the Fn button depressed. It's irritating to use this, but possible.

2. Purchase a USB keypad. A place like Wal-mart sells them for about thirteen dollars.
Laptop keyboards and mice "replacements" are horrible... :)
While it is true that there is an FN key, and that the letter-keys for MJKLUIO789 all also have a secondary numerical keypad, holding down FN and pressing them in sequential orders that once delivered the characters does not seem to function.

Are the codes for achieving these characters different and if so how do I achieve them?

More suggestions please.
They aren't different. I've gotten results on mine that way. Sèè?
I like my easy to use mac.
I dont see a point to devoting an entire function of a keyboard just so you can spell Pokemon correctly.
Then you don't see the relevance of foreign languages.
Honestly, I don't myself. Screw other countries!
Can't you just use the character map?

I.e. Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Character Map.

Or the built-in foreign characters thing in your word processor... or does Word not have that feature?
Yes this'll work, the character map, I just couldn't find it... thanks.
