Anyone interested in buying a little stock in Nintendo? Best to do it now before the thing comes out.
I hope it's $199.
Did anyone really expect anything different?
Well yeah, if the Wii managed to end up 360 or PS3 priced then I am sure people would be calling for "more power" out of the thing at the very least.

I thought Nintendo had made this official already though. Did they not actually say that at E3? Was that mere speculation at the time? Or, did they say something more like "we are aiming at $250 but it's not set in stone yet"?
Yeah, this is far from a surprise, but Nintendo hadn't actually made a press release before saying 'this is the maximum price'... during E3 they made no official announcements about the price. They've just repeatedly said 'less than the competition' and the general assumption has been 'between $150 and $250'.
Also, they expect to ship 6 million Wii consoles by the end of fiscal year 2006 (march '07? Or is it may?)...
woohoo! I seriously hope Nintendo sticks to the one sku ideal, nnone of this premium and core garbage.

I'm just remembering an old rumor, one that said Wii will launch with a special set up (it's just a rumor for now):

Wii w/sports/orchestra, 1 controller = 200
Buy 4 games (200), get Wii (above) free
Buy 3 games and a controller (200), get Wii Free

With a system launch of 20 plus games, this setup makes sense. Though it would mean that Wiimotes with nunchucks will be 50 bucks. Consedering the tech it makes sense.
I don't know what SKU means and I don't want to know! Sounds like dreaded business speak!
Stock Keeping Unit. Basically its a number for inventory management created at the merchant level for products and their variants. The number allows the merchant to easily track the products and their variants that are being sold.

Now you know and you'll never be able to unlearn it.
THAT WAS SO BORING!
You brought it upon yourself! Be careful what you wish for!

Yes, it was very sobering.
Sobering? Nope, just DULL!

And EM, I wished to NOT know about it!
The sku is a magic crystal that rebuilds armies by 2HP every day by using the earth's energy.

And they glow in the DARK

Better?
MUCH BETTER! AND IT IS REAL BECAUSE MY GUT TELLS ME SO, AND THAT'S WHERE MY KNOWLEDGE COMES FROM!

That's a good idea, actually. :D

Do they even have a ticker in the NYSE?
Nintendo is listed on NASDAQ and the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
$200, and it's a hit with everyone and it's flying off the shelves. Everyone and their mom will have one. $250, and it's a wait-and-see with the crowd, and bet on a MS price drop near the PS3's launch to make it tough.
I'm not too sure on the price drop for 360, they're losing money already with units sold, so i'm expecting a pack-in. Still 300 for the core, but it comes with a game or two is my bet,

if it's 250, why not spend an extra 50 and get the better looking graphics? That's what everyone is saying, but the factor of the controller, and that we haven't seen final hardware with more secrets to be revealed either about the controller or the actual graphical capabilities of the system and you have yourself a catalyst for a major launch even at the 250 point. if anyone has seen the the new zelda movies from gametrailers its obvious that 360-like graphics are possible but here's the kicker: It looks exactly the same on GC, just in 4:3. TP is afterall a port and it looks that good already, using a logic and knowing at the very least that Wii is twice as powerful as the GC then we should be in for a treat by the time the demo kiosks hit stores.

As it stands right now, nintendo could go for the 250 point, but that wouldn't be very exciting or cause a feeding frenzy for the console and it would probably make Nintendo's goal of getting a larger installed user base than 360 in the first 2 months or so of its release more of an uphill battle

I would prefer a $200 pricetag, but expect $250. The decision to buy one at launch is based more on the launch lineup than the price. GameCube launch left me underwhelmed...
