Quote:THE NEWS ABOUT PS3s being scarce at E3 is kind of troubling to me, but not totally unexpected.

We are about six months from launch, and debugging should be done, prototypes and dev kits should flow like water, and all the tame magazines should already have one. The situation is rather different though, they are nowhere, and there are two related reasons behind this.

The first is size. People tell us that the current PS3s are about 50% too large to fit in the sleek but empty boxes they have been showing off. This is a problem, but a solvable one, electronics always get smaller. Time solves all, and there is still time, just not much.

More troubling to me is that Sony is still bidding on components for the boxes. This means the development is far from final, and it will be debugging up to, and in a Microsoft overheating manner, past the last minute. Not a good sign.

Overall, I think it will be out late in the year, but Sony will push the launch out as far as humanly possible. If you have one on your non-denominational year end holiday list, you may be waiting in XBox360esqe lines to get your toys. Basically, don't hold your breath waiting, you may be blue till next spring. ยต

Truly shocking, isn't it...
I dunno, but i'll tell you what, if sony pushes to 2007 expect Nintendo to follow suit and use the extra time on making the games better. that would give 360 another 6 months or so to snuggle itself in to a user base
I don't know, Nintendo seems to be pretty confident about launching the Revolution by the end of the year. And if they did, it would mean Nintendo would only have to go head-to-head with just the Xbox360 for a while. It could give the Revolution the boost it needs to make a difference.
Don't forget the Christmas rush, too.

I dunno, I see lazy's point, but I don't think it would eb in Nintendo's best interest to delay just to coincide witht he PS3 delay. Sure, it may make their games better, but why release your console to more competition that it needs? I say keep on schedule and just a jumpstart on PS3. Leave them in the dust.
that's a better argument, Nintendo would be looking at the headstart the PS2 got in comparison to the GC even though the N64 was already more of a next gen system than PS2. :P
The beginning of a new console generation is always an interesting time...
They could just delay SOME of their games and release the system and a few games.
