Web site HM-Fusion posted an interview conducted at the recent Game Developers Conference with Eiji Anonuma, producer of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, where he talks about the game's secret relationship to Nintendo's next-generation console, code-named Revolution.

When asked if the extra year of production on Twilight Princess had anything to do with support for Revolution's freestyle controller, Aonuma responded that the game "will be utilising the Revolution hardware, although not in a way many will expect." Nintendo has mentioned that other secrets about Revolution have yet to be revealed, with Aonuma's comment suggesting that Twilight Princess might utilize one of these mysterious functions.

MYSTERIOUS

THAT'S RIGHT FOLKS NOT ONLY ARE THERE RUMORS OF TWO DIFFERENT VERSIONS BUT ITS POSSIBLE THAT IT WILL HAVE OTHER SURPRISES OTHER THAN REVCON CONTROL, PERHAPS 'NOT IN THE WAY PEOPLE MAY THINK' MEANS THAT IT WILL UTILIZE THE HARDWARE IN WAYS THAT YOU CANNOT POOSSIBLY IMAGINE WITH YOUR SMALL STUPID BRAINS YOU DUMBFUCKER BUT NOT ONLY THAT, JUST FEAST YOUR RETINAS ON THIS DULLOP OF DATA!!!!!

INTERVIEW WITH PANDEMIC: Gamasutra: Do you perceive difficulties with the Revolution, as far as making games multi-platform?

JR: Well the Revolution is a very different platform, and we’ve actually just seen some things behind closed doors that are just mind-blowing. Very very exciting. They’re doing something that’s very different and unique. I agree that it’s going to challenge the notion of just doing a port.

I don’t think it’s going to be as easy to take a product from one console to the Revolution, and so I think we are going to be looking to see how we can tailor our products to that platform. But we do that also with other platforms as well, it’s just that the Revolution may challenge us even more.

MIND BLOWING

MUST I TELL YOU WHAT PANDEMIC HAVE DONE I DO NOT FOR YOU KNOW THEM MAYBE NOT BY NAME BUT BY GAME, INDEED FOR IT IS MIND BLOWING AND CHALLENGING AND NOT A PORT BUT A SUPERIOR, DIFFERENT, TAILORED VERSION, DIRECTLY FROM THE HORSE AND HIS OR HER MOUTH!!!!!!! AND DO YOU WANT MORE?????? YOU DO YES???? THEN I SHALL SAY THIS!!!!!!

I was so fucking right!

from CNN:

More big talk in the interview came when the issue of the Revolution's built-in flash memory, currently only holding 512 Mb of space internally. With Nintendo planning to distribute older titles from such classic systems as the SNES, Sega Genesis, NEC TurboGrafx, and the N64 via the platform's "Virtual Console", many gamers will find their internal memory running short very quickly, with the largest games occupying 70 Mb of space. As of late, Nintendo has yet to announce plans for an External Hard Drive that could store game saves and older downloaded titles.

Iwata addressed this during his interview, saying that memory concerns would "be addressed" at E3 2006. However, Iwata also added that the system has expansion slots for SD Cards, which can hold up to 4 Gb of space on one card. He also reminded interviewer Chris Morris that the console has several USB ports, meaning an external hard drive is a distinct possibility.

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, two versions?
April 4th, 2006
A website claims that Nintendo is developing actually two versions of the game. Although it may seem akward one must understand that many developers have been doing this nowadays with such games like EA’s Fight Night Round 3 which made its way to both Xbox and Xbox 360. Although it is in a different language GoNintendo.com also has a report with a bit more detail.

Anyone should make out at least the following statement:

“Nintendo GameCube en Revolution versie”

my wife uses her special unknown powers to translate the dutch website which I copy paste here for your amusement:

mogelijkheden is a funny god damn word

translated:

Various different sources, that earlier reported that GTA: Liberty City Stories and Hitman: Blood Money were coming out for the Playstation 2, reported today that there are going to be 2 different versions of The Legend of Zelda, Twilight Princess coming out at the end of this year. This would be, as you're probably already guessing, referring to a Nintendo Gamecube version and a Revolution version. The next-ge version would, among other things, make a lot of use out of the revolution features, so think about the possibilities of the controller for instance.

Also, Miyamoto supposedly said something about the release of the revolution version. This version would be introduced witht he release of the revolution isself. Wether or not th game is then going to be bundled is unknown, but seems likely.

mogelijkheden means possibilities and you'll probably laugh even more when i pronounce it
The best way to go would be to sell both version as part of one package, or maybe release both seperately and have one with them together as a special edition.
How about releasing both versions on one disk? In fact, it may just be bad translation. It could just be that when you play the game on Revolution, it gets certain graphical sparklies added to it.

However, as of yet this is a rumor, so never mind what I said as it was conjecture based on nothing.
I definitely don't believe the multiple versions rumor... it would just make no sense...
Minka did the translating so it's not a mistranslation. As far as it being a misunderstanding on the part of the website, i dont know. However they did have the news story up about miyamoto commenting on the Zelda TP rev playability and this article states that a source who was reliable in the past says that it's in fact two versions. So i'm inclined to say that this isn't a misunderstanding and is classified as rumor at this point. Which makes since as Miyamoto has said that we could see two versions, or even 3 (based on an old interview). Now take what Anonuma said that 'Zelda TP will use the Revolution hardware but in ways you might expect" and I think we have a working theory on two versions of the game being released meaning a release for GC and then a Revolution launch title called Zelda: TP - Special edition or whatever.

MS is doing this all over the place with releasing the same game on Xbox and 360 with graphical updates, so I think this is the case with Zelda. it could turn out that Zelda for GC will have no rev compatability as far as using the revcon, it may held over for the special-er Rev edition.

That site also claims that the source says it may be a pack in game with Revolution:

1.) Nintendo releases zelda for GC
2.) Nintendo releases revolution with zelda rev
- Or, gives people Zelda Rev if they preorder a rev

Nintendo has given away multiple zelda disks including the collector's edition and the master quest OoT disk, if they release zelda TP for GC, I could totally see Nintendo doing a stunt where you preorder something, and get Zelda Rev for free. Even packing it in with the Rev.

Miyamoto or Iwata, i forget which, mentioned that they would like to see a return of the 'pack-in' game many moons ago, so that just fuels the fire.

ultimately this makes somethings weird in the sheduling, so I suspect that ccome e3, the launch date of Zelda TP will be bumped forward to a june, July or august release. we'll see though. It wouldn't be the first time Nintendo bumped a game forward.
