Like a bat out of hell I'm bursting back on to the scene with rumor from GDC that makes me want to Riverdance if true.

The rumor at the show is that MS will be announcing a $100 dev kit today.

I've done some speculating with others on this already and here's what we believe it will be.

Via the power of XNA you will develop your game on the PC and download it to a 360. We think that the $100 dev kit will actually be a set of libraries that will be needed by the code and a retail 360 will be needed to download code to.

I've emailed my contacts who are at the show and am awaiting any word on this one.
I can see a 100 dollar dev kit for making Live Arcade titles, but not full blown 360 games. Awesome as fuck if true though.
Yeah, full X360 devkits are going to be a lot more than that...
I've heard this rumor before, and it was definitely talked about in the context of developing Live Arcade games. Still very cool, though, and something I hope Nintendo thinks about implementing.
That has nothing to do with this thread...
sounds cool...but why I am thinking this could mean an epic amount of crap on Live Arcade? Maybe there would be a certification or qualification of some sort.

Will be interesting if true...
Live Arcade definitely need Microsoft certification... so that they can control quality and numbers so that it isn't overwhelmed with stuff. It's not like a PC where you can make anything... of course that restricts what's going to come out on it, but the console way is having one company, the console creator, control what content is allowed to be released on the platform, so it's expected.
Just thought I'd let everyone know that I never got confirmation on this one way or the other, but after talking to some others it seems this rumor was most likely refering to XNA.
