Replace "3 times" with "one-third". And the dive just makes it harder for people to hit you as far as I know.
Understand this now -
1.) There are sections of the game where you can jump in context sensitive locations. This is actual jumping to cross gaps.
2.) if you are able to shoot someone who is in the middle of a dive, you will cause 3 times as much damage to them. IN OTHER WORDS: Thus evening out the strengths of the dive, you become harder to hit, BUT if the player is skilled enough, a hit will cost you 3 times as much health as normal.
