Quote:Do you think you have what it takes to beat me at Mario Kart DS? Prove it! Challenge me this Monday at 4:00pm Pacific Time at the Bellevue Square McDonald's in Bellevue, Washington. I'll be connecting to Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection at the McDonald's hotspot, so even if you don't live nearby I encourage you to connect at a McDonald's hotspot near you for a chance to compete against me on Monday afternoon.

If you live in the area, stop by the Bellevue Square McDonald's to meet me and get your hands on some great Nintendo giveaways. If you don't own a Nintendo DS, don't worry -- we'll have some on-hand for you to use. You'll also have a chance to win one of four Nintendo DS systems autographed by me or the Grammy nominated band Fall Out Boy.

Event Details

What: Race Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo's Executive Vice President, Sales and Marketing at the Bellevue Square McDonald's or at a McDonald's hotspot near you.

When: Monday, December 19, 4:00 -- 5:30pm Pacific Time

Where: Bellevue Square McDonald's, Bellevue WA

If you can't make it to Bellevue Square, you can still take part in the fun. Connect to Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection beginning at 4:00pm Pacific Time. I'll be racing in "Worldwide" mode, so be sure to select the same Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection mode for your chance to race me. Bring your A game, because I've been practicing.

See you there!

I know where I'll be on Monday!
So do I! At home.

I really don't care. Seriously, "Reggie" is an abbrasive idiot who's only skill seems to be making every single sentence seem "in your face".

True, but he's an energetic spokesperson and gets his points across. I can see why Nintendo puts him in the spotlight, he's got charisma and a knack for catchphrases (how long after E3 did we hear "Kick ass and take names?"). Or, if you do dislike him so much, race him and give him whatfor!

I'm even off work on Monday! I'll have to see if I can hit up Reggie for a race. Even if he mops the floor with me (which he will), I can at least say I raced Reggie. Se let's see, if he'll be on from 4:00 to 5:30 PST, that equates to...7:00 to 8:30. Perfect! I'll try to be there. GR, maybe we'll beat the astronomical odds and we'll BOTH race Reggie!!

That would be the coolest thing ever!

Oh and, DJ, I'm deducting some of your cool points for now liking Reggie.
Oh no! How many does he have left!?

Reggie is okay, but I can see DJ's point too... he definitely acts tough, and that is kind of stupid... 'I'm going to take names', etc? For Nintendo? Uhh...
Isn't that what people have been saying for years that Nintendo needs?
Isn't that what Nintendo fans have been saying for years is what Nintendo DOESN'T need?
Nintendo is trying very hard to move away from it's kid-centered image, and Reggie is the perfect type of spokesperson they need to do just that. Regardless of what you may think of him, Reggie is the face of Nintendo for many people and he's much different that the kind of guy they expect. Instead of some old, Japanese guy, we get big, tough-talkin' Reggie. I'll take him over Iwata any day for a press conference.

Why? We don't care that much about what Reggie says, mainly because we already know all about Nintendo and want the games anyway, but casuals who don't know all that so a person like Reggie brings them in.

Exactly. Reggie may annoy some Nintendo fans, but we aren't the people Nintendo is trying to get to buy their games. It would take a lot to get any of us to stop supporting Nintendo. Reggie and J Allard are meant to portray an "edge" and get casual fans to at least take a look at Nintendo and MS. They may be pretty annoying to us, but that's because we already know a lot about the industry and much of what they say is spin and pointless dribble. Regardless, it is an image that is needed if Nintendo is ever going to shed this kiddie image that has been around for too long.
I just don't like his attitude that much more than DJ does...

Quote:J Allard

He needs help too. :) Tries too hard to be "cool"...

I'm sorry, but there's no hope for you.
Well, the time is approaching. I'll try for a while (the last half-hour is a no go, that's Arrested Development time), but I'll give it a shot. The odds are astronomical, but hey, it'll still be Mario Kart fun, even if I don't get matched against Reggie. At the very least, there should be deluge of competition on tonight, but also, people will also probably be quitting if they DON'T get Reggie.

J Allard ver. 1.0

Microsoft saw that the original version was too bloated. They decided to streamline the product and update the look of the gui.

J Allard ver. 2.0

2.0 presents us with a much more streamlined almost aerodynamic look. Gone is the memory hogging cruft. 2.0 also comes preloaded with twice as many buzzwords and three times the slang vocabulary of ver. 1.0.
Haha, I knew what Allard looked like before, but I had never seen the before and after pictures of him together. Quite a contrast.
That's depressing to look at.
Heh... great pictures... :)
He kind of looks like a younger version of the lead singer from R.E.M.

No he doesn't.
Yes, he does. A little bit.

He had more character appeal as a bald (not SHAVEN) geek in a flannel. Now, he just looks like an ass.
He looks like a completely different person.
Whatever else, that is definitely true...
