Children of Mana for DS, and Mana 4 (4? It's the fifth title, I guess Legend of Mana is a sidestory and not a main-series Mana game...) for unspecified platform(s). Children of Mana looks great, classic 2d Mana look... not much there of Mana 4, but it looks 3d. No idea what platform it's for though...

Oh yes, source.

I assume it's Secret of Mana 4, with Legend not being a proper sequel. And it wasn't.

I'll probably get both of these games.
Oh, it's definitely Mana 4 (Seiken Densetsu 4)... I just didn't know if Legend of Mana was called that in Japan, remembering that Secret of Mana had no number when released in the US, while it was called 'Seiken Densetsu 2' in Japan... (ie so maybe Legend was like that too). Guess not.
Legend of Mana was more of a side story. It didn't play much of the same anyway. Not to say it was a bad game, it was pretty good and I enjoyed creating the world around me as I went. However, the side scrolling "brawler" style gameplay sort of limited things a bit too much. I still prefer SOM.
Legend of Mana was cool, but yeah, I can see what you mean about how it's a sidestory... I guess that means that Mana 4 will be back to a more classic Mana-game feel, then? But then what about Children of Mana... graphically it looks a lot like the past few Mana games, after all, but it doesn't have the main series label on it... and remembering that Sword of Mana is Mana 1, I wonder what that means about it. Is it just the common convention to pretend that handheld versions don't count when counting the number of titles in a series (which Mana didn't follow before, obviously)?
