Quote:Our development team has decided to take extra time to add some incredible new elements to The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. As a result, the game will now launch in 2006 globally. We recognize there may be some disappointed fans, however we firmly believe this additional time will result in a much more enjoyable gaming experience. GameCube fans will have a variety of Nintendo games to choose from this Christmas, including Mario Smash Football, Battalion Wars, Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance and Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness.

Quote:In order to try and lift dampened spirits, Nintendo released seven new screenshots of Twilight Princess to accompany the statement.

I find myself overcome with sadness.
I can't say I'm surprised. I can say I'm a little disappointed. I can also say that I understand though and if that's what they need to do to give us the game they want to give (especially after WW), then I fully support the move.
wow I didnt expect this. It's good news though really. I wonder what they're adding/changing? GBA/GC connection? or maybe just a graphics update for certain areas?

alot of people find faults in the ground textures or how the horse's mane isn't rendered hair but none of those things warrant a push to next year. I have a feeling that this comes down to something in the story and a major change to it's content and flow. Or, it could just be a tweak to the physics which would also take alot of time to overhaul.

Regardless of why we'll end up with a better game.

I just realized something; the push could be because the Revolution is going to be pushed back. If the rumors and quotes are true, then the Revolution will be launching with a Zelda title within 6 months of its release. This could mean that the seperation of Zelda GC and Zelda Revolution could be up to a year which would put Revolution in 2007. If this is true then we can expect the announcement of a push 6 months before its original release date. I can totally see Nintendo doing that, even showing games, the controller and then announcing the actual release date at some point in 2007 relying on Zelda:tTP to carry them.

Now, if all of this is true then I wouldn't be surprised to see Metroid Prime 3 released for Gamecube. There's two things to note; the video shown at E3 of Prime 3 was running off a Gamecube and the development kits for Revolution are actually the same development kits for GC which mean a down conversion would be easy and since the game is probably past the 50% mark in terms of completeness we could probably see the release as early as Christmas (at this poiint, Nintendo does not have a major Christmas release) and a last hurrah with Metroid and Zelda on Gamecube would give Nintendo plenty of time to deliver Revolution.
I'm a little bummed. Of course I wanted it in a couple months. But it's really interesting. Yesterday I talked with 2 coworkers about Zelda. The first was a guy who I convinced to try Zelda so he started with WW, loved it, then had just finished OoT. The other was a longtime fan who only just gave WW a chance and is enjoying it a lot as well. Anyway, of course we all talked about the new Zelda and how cool it would be. But I found myself thinking "MM was good, but not like OoT. And WW was good, but not even close to OoT. They both were too short and felt a little rushed (for a Zelda game). I hope TP is long and challenging and interesting like OoT. I hope they do new things that I've never seen in a game before, like OoT. Maybe it would be better if it was delayed... I was so mad when OoT was delayed, but it was worth every month (and year) I waited."

So, yes, you can all blame me. Yesterday I wished that Twilight Princess would be delayed and today it happened.
Lazy, I think they were truly just adding more content. Amen, I say. Forget those old 4 or 5 dungeons Zeldas we've put up with the last few years. Give me 10+ like OoT and LttP. Give me a super deep fishing game that could warrant sales of it's own. Give me tons of fun sidequests and plot twists and whatever else they can think of. Sure, they will undoubtably use the time to tweak the physics and improve the graphics with better textures or character models as well. Do whatever it takes to make this the best game since 1998. Or ever.
Thanks LL :D

Dear God check out the new screens:
Pushing back the Revolution to 2007 would be a disaster I think as Nintendo would then have TWO established consoles to try to compete with instead of just one. If anything, I think they'll push back the release of another Zelda game to about a year after the Revolution's launch or possibly longer than that. Nintendo NEEDS to get their console out next year.

As long as Nintendo provides a superior gaming experience with Twilight Princess, I don't mind the delay.
:( I guess we should have expected it, but I was hoping, given that Nintendo has been better at keeping its times this generation... it is looking amazing, though.

But yes, Revolution must not slip.
Wow, those screen shots are amazing! Twilight Princess looks awesome, I can't wait now. I haven't been this psyched about a game since... oh, before you were born.
You know, getting games out "on time" is all well and good for Mario games, but when it comes to Zelda games, take your sweet time! You know I'll be buying it, so just delay all you need to get it up to a level you are happy with Nintendo!

Thanks LL! Your psycho-flexitive powers have saved us from a fate worse than something horrid!
After negative reaction from focus groups they decided to scrap the second half of the game where you played as Tingle and now have to come up with something else. :p
Your welcome everyone. I do try to use my skills for good, but it's hard. It's not like those other skills that have obvious practical applications, like nunchuck skills, bo staff skills, or computer hacking skills.

If Smoke was right, that would have been a fate worse than something horrid. :D Could you imagine Tingle with those super real graphics?

Bonus points to anyone who knows where that comes from. There should be at least 3 of you who do... Oh, and I'm talking about the eyes part. Not the skills part. All of you should know that, and if not, shame on you.
You can't gouge out your mind's eye!!
That's exactly what Muradin found out too.
I.... I didn't get either one...

*is the shame'd*
"the tight spandex catching the sun light causing the bulbous portions of his body to glint like a shiny mush-filled jewel and just ever so lightly, as if to tease us, the nipples not unlike tiny pencil erasers peek out from the slippery sea of his swollen B-cup chest. A v-neck to show us his masculine chest hair - a dense love filled forest... perhaps in that forest a baby centaur plays with a unicorn and they drink wine while the world cries."

Quote:I.... I didn't get either one...

Mine was from "Everybody Loves Raymond".
Don't worry, LL. I voted for Pedro. Don't know the second reference though...

I was initially sad about the delay, but lazy's right, they're doing it to give us a better game in the end. I'm disappointed, but I know that when it is released it'll all be worth it.

I can wait. It will be difficult, but I can wait.
Quote:Nintendo said the delay came at the request of the development team, which wanted to add new levels and more polish to the game.

CNNMoney
New levels?

...in a game that Nintendo has already stated is 5 times larger than OoT?

They on crack or what...? I cant wait to see Zelda with more polish, though I usually imagined it as more of a Russian story.
EM rocks. I'm disapointed in ABF, GR, and Rtan for not getting the eyes joke. It makes me cry, as if I'm the only one who even reads the Wheel of Time here. Or maybe I'm just the only one counting the days until Knife of Dreams is out...
I'm glad they are taking the time to make the game perfect. I don't want to just be given a major item like the pearl in Wind Waker instead of having to go through a dungeon to get it.
Yeah, I hated that too. I was thinking that whole time that "okay, big dungeon coming up", and when I was just given the pearl, I was expecting it to either be stolen or for it's "energy" to be missing and I would need to retrieve that. Then, boom, tower of the gods. Plus, those dungeons just weren't that hard.

That's fine with me!
Sorry LL, WoT is fuzzy given that the only book in the series I've read recently is New Spring... while reading it it took a while to remember some of the basics of the series. It's just been so long since CoT...
I still haven't finished book 10...
Why not? It's just as good as any of the other books in the series... that is, great. :)
It started out REALLY slow and I kept looking ahead to see if there were any parts with Rand...there weren't anyway...for a LONG time.
Dude, you better finish it soon because Book 11 comes out in October. And you know that now that Zelda is delayed you have nothing to do in October.I've read the prologue and it was pretty sweet, and if the rest of the book is anything like it, I will be very happy. A lot is going to happen. Finally.

Since nobody remembers, I was talking about the scene in The Shadow Rising where Rand and Mat go to Rhuidean and find Muradin, Couladin's brother who is going through the ter'angreal that reveals the Aiel's history. You see him from Rand's pov, in between history lessons, and everytime Rand sees him he is is more and more freaked out. Finally he is clawing at his eyes, then the next time his eyes are gone he is chewing something and blood is coming out of his mouth. Then he is just gone. Tasty.
That's... what in the... Yeesh...

Oh, I can't remember something I never learned to begin with :D.

Well, okay so TP won't be out until next year. There's another game I've been looking forward to about as much as that. Okay, this year is year of Kingdom Hearts 2.
Quote:It started out REALLY slow and I kept looking ahead to see if there were any parts with Rand...there weren't anyway...for a LONG time.

Who cares? Sure, the pace is slow, but that's to make room for all the things going on... so many events, and characters, and so much detail... so it's long and slow paced. So? That's actually one of the GOOD things about the series -- it's got real depth, and the length to show it.
Quote:Who cares?

Well, I did for one. I'll get around to reading it sometime. Probably after the 11th one comes out I'll start remembering how cool WoT was and start it up again.
I want to read it again, but don't actually own books 2 or 3... those I got from the library. So I'd have to either buy them or see if the library at college has them, because I won't be reading all three of those before college starts in a few weeks...
I have all of them.
Good, delay it. In fact don't even release it on the Gamecube, if all we're getting is another majora's mask or wind waker then delay it for a year, two, I don't care, but make it awsome. Not that there was anything wrong with those two games, they just weren't impressive by zelda standards. when they make games like ocarina and link to the past, i just cant help being a little dissapointed with mask and wind waker.
I meant to comment on this some time ago, but some of those screenshots, like that one of Wolf-Link running in some frozen region, seem to indicate that the areas really will be HUGE in their sheer size. It doesn't look like the land stops until you reach those distant mountains, rather than some invisible wall or worse, a wall that just has a background printed on it.

I love massive areas (that are DIVERSE and INTERESTING) so I really hope these images aren't misleading!

You're being too negative, both of those are very good Zelda games... sure, OoT was better, but both of them are good solid games... WW's flaw is that it's too easy of course, and MM... well, I guess MM is both too easy (the actual combat and stuff is easy and it's pretty hard to die... not quite WW-levels of nondeath, but close) and too hard (timer! timing! ack!)... but they were hardly disgraces to the Zelda name or anything.

What am I expecting from TP? A Zelda game, kind of like WW or MM (given that this director did those two also). I'm hoping for a bit more difficulty, primarially, of course... I like the new graphics and all, but make it harder again! :)

Yes, this is also good. WW did a fairly good job of expanding the scale of the Zelda game, and I hope TP continues that process (not necessarially by being bigger than WW when you include all the water, but by also being large and by putting more stuff in the space (sailing is fun, but those islands were pretty small...).).
Wow... it looks amazing. This will certainly blow Wind Waker out of the water. (No pun intended.)

Personally, I liked Wind Waker. Sure, it had nothing on Ocarina of Time, but it didn't have the godforsaken time limit that made the otherwise highly enjoyable Majora's Mask a lot less enjoyable. However, Twilight Princess will surely be better. Hopefully, it'll be a worthy successor to Ocarina of Time. So far, there has been none.

By the way, nice skin. I like it. Yup. I've been AWOL for a while, I know, but... meh. I found time to come here again. Thought I'd catch up on some stuff. I have a new computer. Yeah, that's pretty awesome, especially since my old one sucked. This computer once belonged to my grandpa, but he passed away a month ago. :(
Welcome back. And you're right, Twilight Princess is going to be all kinds of awesome. It's the Nintendo Difference™. :D
Wind Waker wasn't nearly that bad (gameplay or graphically) though... it just was far too easy. Well, and the water graphics were pretty boring...
I really like Wind Waker's graphical style. But everybody wants realistic graphics these days so that's what Nintendo has to do.
Yeah, I hope they return to WW's style sometime, I thought it worked pretty well...
It fit Wind Waker rather well, yeah. The water could've been better (it looked more like blue paint or something) but for the most part, I felt the cartoony animation was rather suiting to Wind Waker's style. To a darker themed Zelda such as Ocarina of Time, though, I would prefer a more realistic style.
