DJ, I think China is next. And it will probably happen in the next 50 years. New reports say that China is building up their military far faster than we expected, and they've already threatened to nuke us if we interfere with them and Taiwan. Plus, technologically China is just about to take off. I recently read an article about what is essentially their version of Silicon Valley^2. Many other cities and countires have tried to match the technolgical research and business opportunites from there, and have all failed until now. But most analysts sem to think China will be different. They have all their technology universities and research labs in the same city as their development and manufacturing- it's basically a city of geeks. And because of the population of China, they can develop their own standards and have a larger market than we currently do. So they can do whatever they want, and if those new gambles pay off, we'll be the ones using their standards instead of the other way around. It should be very interesting to watch all this happen.
