Behold the insanity!

Quote:I'm serious. I'm wondering if any Nintendo fans here love the company so much that they would spot them some cash in exchange for a good feeling.

Alternative question: are there any companies you'd just send some money to help out? Personally, I'd subsidize the Dragon Quarter team if it meant a followup in the same vein.

Maybe it would be interesting if some develloper was demonstrating some ideas about the likes of 3 games and then they proceed by donations as the decide wich one is release. I would maybe send money for the most interesting project. But then again it's stupid because your vote occur when you buy the released game anyway. It would also be shitty in some way because the rich gamers would decide what we play. There's enough rich people dictating our lives already. I'm waiting for a Nbot to completely support and agree with your idea Frost lol

I will have a new 2D Mario platformer on Revolution!

Quote:What's funny about this thread is it actually shows how insane Sega fanboys are. The thread's about Nintendo yet half the posts are "I'd give money to Sega". [Image: laugh.gif]

Quote:If you sent Sega money, they'd burn it, film it, then email the video back to you.
I'm all for helping out a company, website, or other such organization that I enjoy and would benefit from it. They'd never have need for my meager offering, but yes, I'd donate to Nintendo if push came to shove. I've gladly donated to other websites I frequent before, and would for TC in a heartbeat, if asked.

I will always give back to someone or something that has given me so much.
Absolutely not. Nintendo is proud of the fact that they are the most profitable operation among the three console manufacturers.

Regardless of who they are, I'd never donate money to a company, as there's a snowball's chance in hell they'd do it for me. You want my money, you make a product that I will want to buy. If you are in need of money, you need to step up your game and make things that make me want to spend money on you.
I'm donating to a company by purchasing their goods/services/ etc. If they fail, it's because they make poor business decisions and would fail even if I donated them spare cash. No thanks, if I'm going to just donate money off-hand I'll donate my money to established non-profit organizations to find cures or help the *real* needy.

edit: and that "terrene" guy's post in that thread is hilarious.
I'll donate money to them by buying their games...which I do anyway.
It depends, do we get something out of it? :)
it wouldn't really be a donation if you got something in return...
I don't have money, but if I did, I'd donate it to indie projects I believe in, whether it's an open source software project or a video game remix collab.
I've been a longtime reader of the webcomic Bob and George (thank you DJ for introducing me) and when the time came for the comics author to ask his readers for donations, I gladly did.
That was a good comic, but I stopped reading a year ago and catching up would be a pain, so I stopped reading it... there are just SO many online comics it'd be hopeless to even try to read just a few of them, so I only manage to stay current on a couple (Megatokyo, Errant Story, and 8-Bit Theater primary among them).
Well, with someone offering something to me for free, I can consider a donation. Nintendo already charges me money for their stuff. I really don't feel obligated to help them out, so the answer to the topic question is: no, for those reasons Weltall stated.

Hahahaha.

Also, no I wouldn't donate money to Nintendo, that's retarded. Donate money to startups who need it, if you really have money to burn. In either case though the best idea is to actually invest in the company/project. That way you get more than just the satisfaction of supporting something you like.
Wow it's like a holocaust of SAVINGS!
im not sure , would we get anything or a discount or something??
How should we know? Nintendo hasn't been asking for anything like that. If you are wondering about a hypothetical, well, you tell us what you'd do in both cases.

If they did offer a discount, wouldn't that defeat the entire point though? "Here, donate money and you'll basically nullify your donation in the amount of SAVINGS you'll get buying our products!"
No discount. The account directly funds the development of new games and the localization of Japanese games into english such as Starfi and Earthbound GBA. :D
I might be willing to donate some money to that cause. But only if Magical Vacation is on that list as well.
And Seiken Densetsu III... Tales of Phantasia and Star Ocean are optional bonuses. :) SDIII I really want.
Wouldn't you need to donate to like... other companies?

FF3 for DS, yeah... that's nice that's nice... but hey Squeenix if ya put like, FF1-6 and CT in there, I got this twinkie for you. I mean, it's not a REAL twinkie, I'm not made of gold here. It's made of sand actually. It's a sandie. But, that's just as good. A little gritty, but it'll do.
