I'm leaving in about ten hours to make a second appearance in Florida at the home of Senor Bradshaw.

I think my ass may end up coming back in a radically different shape.
Well, at least you won't be surprised when it does.

:shakeit:
Hey, good luck with that, Ryan.
Yeah, I believe Lazy has discovered a few new shapes that way. BTW, I'll be in Philadelphia for 5 weeks this summer so if you think you'll have time to stop by there email me or talk to me on AIM. I'll be working at a computer camp in the suburbs of Philly at Eastern University.
Be sure to check out Senor Cardgage Mortgage!

Edit -- changed in-post flash to a link, because it was really annoying - ABF
I'll throw it to you on the slant!
My next post will be from lazy's pooter. I am off!
Don't worry, Ryan! With the eyes of the world upon you, the UN will surely come to your aid should things take a turn for the worse!
rtanb is almost here!!!!!!!!!!!!
Vera low prices!
And once again, Dark Jaguar doesn't fail to annoy.
2005, 2004, 1999!

Those are all good years!
What are you talking about? 2004 was a horrible year! And you can't judge 2005 until it's over. What if the world ends this year? Would you still consider 2005 a good year? I have no problems with 1999, though.
Quote:And once again, Dark Jaguar doesn't fail to annoy.

Agreed, putting those things in threads is quite annoying.
The world WON'T end this year. I can say that with full confidence. The probabilities are just too ridiculously high to even humor the possibility of it being otherwise.

And they are ALL good years because humanity in general did pretty well. We're still here, and that's how I judge it.
That flash animation is getting annoying, DJ. Really annoying.
Should I kill it?
Yes, please.
There. And of anyone oh so desperately needs to see that thing for a tenth time, they can just click on the link.
<a href="http://www.underoath777.com">UnderOATH</a> is from Florida. And they rock. <a href="http://showbread.net/main.html">Showbread</a> is from Georgia, and that is kinda close to Florida, and they raw rock. <a href="http://www.heislegend.com">He Is Legend</a> is from, um, well, see, I can't remember where. Not Hollywood. But anyway, they <strike>sing</strike> scream about the Big Bad Wolf, and gardeners, and the greatest actor alive, and wanting to see monster's heads explode. So they are cool too.

There's a monster in my room, we discuss movies over coffee. And I think it's quite absurd that he got hungry, licked his lips- he shook my hand. And tried to eat me. And it's getting on my nerves. Don't you think it's strange that I've been reading and still don't know how to kill you? I'm trying hard not to meet you when I am sleeping. And I don't mind the shape that your head is in. I WANNA SEE IT EXPLODE!
I should have known better than to give Ryan my cell phone number, for I got a call from lazy yesterday :D. It's all a traumatic blur but I vividly recall "my penis is speaking spanish right now".

Eek

So Day 3:

Saw EP3 finally last night... very surprised. It was a lot better than I was willing to think it would be. Palpatine was still not explained at all. Jar Jar had no speaking lines. Love story was a little better. Anakin turned far too quickly. C+.

Played Mario Party 6 and Resi 4. I suck at both. Sean's playing SH1.

Night before, I got extraordinarily drunk and I woke up with marker all over my neck and face.

If what I've said in the numerous threads (including this one http://tcforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3043 ) aren't enough (for the Palpatine and Anakin parts), nothing ever will be... sad, really, that something can be explained to you over and over and you refuse to hear it... (Palpatine; as for Anakin, I know it's a common complaint, but once you understand the whole situation it shouldn't be, as I said in the SW thread.)
Man, that marker fun was hilarious. Lazy better hurry up and get those pictures developed. You know, there seriously was a moment shortly after you passed out that I looked over and thought you were dead. Then you spit up a little, and started snoring, and I knew I was wrong. I think that's when the markers came out.
wooo! I'm so stealing rtan's account right now. Oh man we got pictures, he got more than marker on his face... oh man did he get more.

Eden/ You hurt Snake's feelings
We need pictures!
Ryan Wrote:Eden/ You hurt Snake's feelings

He didn't let me finish speaking :D

He also never specified whihc 7-11 to meet him at. Now how will I crack that serial number?

Oh, I heard you. I understand you. I think you're so whored out to the Star Wars series that you'll overlook flat-out bad writing just because it's Star Wars. I do not. I love Xenogears to death, but when Xenosaga came out, it was so inferior. I did not let my love of Xenogears let me overlook how awful Xenosaga was. I expect better from a marquee series. Palpatine should have been explained better. A few lines could have made a world of difference. Instead we're still left with a character doing a lot of shit for no good reason.
I don't see what's so hard to understand about the nature of the Sith.
I agree fully, about Xenosaga anyway. It truly was inferior... First of all, there's that whole "chapter" thing, which would be fine if they didn't make the games 10 hours long in gameplay. Then there's the somewhat disappointing story. The battle system? Well, I've recently had the chance to play a little of the second one, and they actually fixed some major problems. Namely, the Gears are back, that is, they are now both full size and actually useful in battle.
A Black Falcon Wrote:I don't see what's so hard to understand about the nature of the Sith.

It's not hard at all. Sith are evil, wicked and rotten by their basic nature, even when they are basically decent human beings. Like how Anakin swore to the dark side, and all of a sudden he was a cold-blooded child murderer.
I know! You know, for all the slow build up they did, and I have to say they did a great job on the slow build up part, the final execution well... it should have been slower.

Say what you will. Say they had to prevent the movie from being 5 hours long, whatever. That doesn't excuse it. They might as well have just ended it a little before the turn and made a 4th movie. They could have you know. They could have decided to renumber the last 3 movies and make it a 7 part saga. I wouldn't be complaining if he had to, and he probably did, in order to really do a good job with that.

As for the whole "he had no choice at that point and took the only path he saw" thing, well I actually said that already. My comment if I recall was that has all the maturity we would expect from angst boy. Maybe that was the point, that evil is, in the end, a bunch of childish selfish brats who can't think past their noses. If that's the case, bravo. You made me lose all respect for the empire in the last 3 movies.

And a final note I think is worth repeating considering what I've been saying.

I think it's important to say that I LIKE Star Wars. I like the series, and eventually, when this thing is released on DVD, my friends and I may take the time to watch the whole saga from start to finish (including Clone Wars). At such a time maybe that's what it'll take to see the true genius at work or something. But as it stands, putting together the past movies from my fractured memory of them, and the current ones, well, I must say they all pretty much seem the same in quality to me. That much I agree with OB1 about. They are good movies, well done and I can get into the whole thing well enough, BUT, they are not great, and I just decided to point out why I think they aren't great. I think that in 100 years no one will have any idea what Star Wars is. I don't think this is one of those movies that will stand the test of time. Most movies won't. For example, no one here remember "Heat" I suspect, and that was what, 15 years ago? Star Wars is fun, and some parts were pretty nice. Parts of it really got the point across. But, it's not awe inspiring. That's all I'm saying.

Oh and, if your only exuse for them not really thinking of a good way to end that last battle is they didn't want to take up too much time so they phoned it in... well... (And yes, I don't see a problem with him getting the rest of his limbs removed. It's just that the moment should have been a lot more... momentous. I mean, OB1 shouldn't have even MENTIONED the high ground, first off, second off, no slow motion, or maybe a flashback to Anakin's youth and some scenes like that with orcastral "ooohs" in the background and THEN that part? No doves flying by (and bursting into flames)?

On the other hand, I saw Spiderman 2 the other day. THAT was a good movie.
Revenge of the Sith was a great movie.

...

IMO.

I've (and OB1 did) explained it so much better than that that it's absurd that you won't listen... it's pretty clear that you won't listen. Otherwise you would have before now.

It's not just that they are evil by their very nature... I mean, they are evil, certainly. But... for instance, did you ever play KotOR? That's got a pretty good overview of Sith philosophy in it, for starters... not to mention some of the books, like the interesting NJO ones where Jacen questions whether the Force is really two seperate things (Light and Dark) or one... it'd be hard to explain without you having most of the basis for understanding it.

But even so, some was explained in RotS. Anakin said it: 'Sith live only for themselves, while Jedi live for everyone' (or something like that). That's the essential difference... the Sith use their powers for personal gain. "Evil"? Yes, they do evil to get there, but the point isn't evil, it's personal gain. The Jedi have a selfless philosophy which rules this out. The two are diametrically opposed, so of course they will come into conflict... and once the Jedi won and the Sith were forced into hiding, they spent hundreds of years working towards being powerful enough to be able to challenge the Jedi again... which Palpatine was finally able to do.

You can't show everything in the films. That is what the EU is for. The films do what they have to, and do it well... RotS does not go "too fast". As I said. Anakin isn't just making a random, completely un-thought-through decision! Oh, he hasn't thought about being a Sith for years, but Palpatine has been poisoning him with tales of how the Jedi are corrupt, how they are out to get him, how they want to take over the government, etc, etc... getting that confirmed, with the Jedis' request to him for him to spy on Palpatine, hurt. He didn't quite want to believe Palpatine, I think... but that convinced him that Palpatine was right. And the irony is, of course, that Palpatine WAS right... the Jedi were out to get him, did have a plot to take over the government, etc. Palpatine just left out (when he talked to Anakin) the part about how they were doing those things in reaction to Palpatine's actions. :)

Palpatine is a trusted authority figure to Anakin. He tells Anakin things. Anakin gets confirmation of them, in the worst possible ways... can't you see how, with all the layers of deception Palpatine had woven to entrap Anakin, Anakin could have been confused by them and fall prey to the net?

Anakin is doing the same thing everyone does... thinking about the people (or things) most important to them first. It's human nature to care more about people close to you (in Anakin's case, his mother and his wife) than other people... as he is told repeatedly, his problem is that he cannot let go like a Jedi should be able to.

Sure, the portrayal of Anakin isn't perfect, but it's pretty good, and all quite believable.

He was making one last attempt to get Anakin to give up... it didn't work, but he had to try.
Day 7

My final day. I have three buttholes now.
3? Where do the new ones lead?

Candy Land? Sweet! Wait, no no! This is aweful! It's just lame Battleship Land... Where's the food...
I demand a body orifice that leads to Cool Space Stuff Land!!
