Looks like as said, the Gamecube version is going to seriously suck... unless the game gets super delayed and end up going to the next gen consoles, since we're going to totally miss out on the new multiplayer mode. Although I've only seen 4 players at once on the trailers, so I don't know if this is strictly online play, or 4 player split screen play capable.
Multiplayer is cool, but Nintendo always being left out isn't. ... I hope we never see this stuff again on Revolution, but I'm not completely expecting it. Not unless Nintendo does something like X-Box Live (running the games for them) or magically the Revolution becomes really popular...
Well... IF, and its actually a pretty likely IF, since this is Blizzard we're talking about... IF Ghost gets delayed to next gen systems, or if subsequent sequels come out, I don't beleive Nintendo multiplayer will be left out - or left out in any other next gen online game. In fact, it being free is likely to up the ante on online gaming since Nintendo is already trying free Voice over IP on the DS. The next logical thing is to have that on Nintendo Revolution, and the Xbox's pay to play system is starting to look just a little bit less appealing as something you need to subscribe to.
However... look at the number of online games on X-Box and then the number on PS2. Having MS run the servers makes a bunch of companies that otherwise just wouldn't bother, because of the expense, add online multiplayer support into their games...
Yes, but in Nintendo's case, Nintendo has contracted Gamespy to run all the servers instead. And given the small size of many games, and the broadband requirement of the Revolution, not all games will require massive central servers, since most of the games can be purely served off of one host machine.
I haven't really been that interested in Ghost since it took a more action-esque turn.

Whole bunch of info about the multiplayer, but they don't say specifics about platform or anything...

True, and most all PC games that have multiplayer have had online despite the companies having to run the servers, but console companies aren't as used to it so they seem reluctant... the lack of multiplayer online on GC, when it's just as easy technically as it is on PS2 (Sony doesn't run servers either, for third-party titles...), shows that.

Actiony? I guess it is, but it looks awesome... oh, and the blizz site has a CG trailer too. :)

Quote:At its heart, Ghost has always been about blending action and stealth elements while exploiting the StarCraft universe. And while previous builds of Ghost looked on track to deliver such an experience, the latest effort on display at E3 2005 plays the best. It still retains the mix of stealth and action, only now each element feels fine-tuned. The action doesn't necessarily make for a better play experience than stealth, for example, it all just depends on what you want from the game.

Well, if you think about it, even Splinter Cell can be played by sweeping the area and killing everyone in a discreet manner rather than sneaking around them all. I think Ghost will be kind of like that too, but with all the joys and pains of Starcraft universe.

From what I understand, Gamespy's development software has become standard Nintendo development software too. Meaning I think all of Nintendo's 3rd party developers get Gamespy's software with their development kits from Nintendo. As I see it, it wouldn't be anything different from how PC game developers would negotiate with Gamespy to have their game listed for console developers working with Nintendo. I don't think Nintendo was only using Gamespy for their network alone, I think its for all Nintendo games.

And of course, Gamespy runs its empire by using plenty of advertising, beta testing, etc, so that might be an annoyance, but at least its free. So long as my Revolution doesn't get killed by spyware.

It's Blizzard. Thus, the game will be great... :)

But yes, what's wrong with mixing action with your stealth? It looks like the game has both, and does both well, so what's wrong with having action too?

And it'll have a good story too, for sure...

Free lets you ignore a lot...
In deed, in fact if Nintendo ran betas off of Gamespy, I wouldn't mind downloading them myself. Thing is, eventually Nintendo will force everyone to buy 1-2 GB flash memory expansion cards.
