Well in KH2, prepair to meet JACK!

...

SPARROW!

That's right, Jack Sparrow, the pirate with the plan, is a character you meet and join up with in this game!

Also, new screen shots show that not just Disney characters will be fighting by your side this time. Auron is now a potential partner that fights with you in the game, at least!

But more than this, I want to see that whole "protect the world order" Prime Directive of the Disney world (wait...) to vanish so I can take the various partners, BESIDES Donald and Goofy, to whatever world I wish.
Awesome, can't wait for a game with Auron and Jack
I'd heard that Auron would be helping you, not much of a surprise. My memory of the original KH is a bit fuzzy but didn't Cloud, Squall, or Yuffie fight with you at one point?

I wonder if Auron will be able to use Power/Armor/Magic/Mental Break or use Sentinel :D. I think that would be pretty cool. Also, none of the screenshots I have seen (many) never have Auron remove his left arm. As anyon who played FFX recalls, Auron kept his arm slung all the time except for during battle, when he still held like it was slung but not really. I wonder what his voice will sound like...though judging from the last KH, they didn't rehire voice talent for anybody, so I'm not hopeful to hear Auron's real voice. As long as it's close, I won't sweat it. At least he's not some punk kid like they made out of Wakka, Tidus, and...what-her-name. The one who used a jumprope.
Selphie.

Anyway, no, they didn't fight with you. They just fought you. Squall to take that keyblade, and the rest in the colloseum.

You DO realize the FF characters on Destiny Island WERE kids right? They were kid versions of themselves, so using adult voice actors wouldn't really make any sense. Well, actually with Tidus they could have used the kid voice actor they had in FFX...

That brings up another thing. What is up with the Final Fantasy characters anyway? The Disney characters all seem to maintain their storylines, but with the Square ones? Who knows. Cloud and Sephiroth still seem to have related stories, and Cloud and Aerith know each other, but Squall is apparently from the same world as all those guys, and then there's those kids, including a FF8 one, all from Destiny Island? I mean, are they just based on the personalities of the original characters, or is there something really screwy happening to their worlds that somehow caused them and their entire histories to merge with random other worlds?
Do you think they'll un-suckify the camera, controls, and fighting system this time around? I would have loved KH if these three things weren't an issue.
I found the combat to be better than the usual RPG type of fighting so it was a nice change I'd say. But yes I think maybe some more complex moves would be good, but then again I don't want this to be Disney May Cry. :p I'm really looking forward to this game.
Yeah it was definitely better than the usual random, turn-based crap that most RPGs employ, but maybe a little bit more depth would help. Maybe something like Jade Empire, which isn't DMC. ;)

I think my biggest problem was with the camera. Truly an awful camera.
I think everyone will agree the camera was not good at all. I got used to it and eventually didn't even notice it, because my standards are so low I still compare every camera system to Mario 64's for some odd reason.

Kingdom Hearts, after you level up a bunch, has some pretty complex strings of moves. There isn't much variety in the strategies you can use, but near the end, especially against bosses, the added moves really let you use a lot of strategy. Namely, a decent variety of defensive moves.

Advancing it like it looks like they are doing in KH2 will be great. I would like to see a lot more options for defending and magic casting. It seems like you can actually combine magic and attacks, which is nice. What I'd like to see is a large number of defensive moves that can be used in various situations in combat. Roll, guard, timed attack, and flying just aren't enough.

The controls and camera are being solved at once it seems.
