Ikaruga fans rejoice -- sort of. A formerly Japan-only shooter is headed to America.
by Matt Casamassina

May 6, 2005 - IGNcube learned today that the MileStone-developed GameCube shooter Chaos Field, which was published by SEGA in Japan, is now headed for a release in America. The title will be published by Q-3 and is scheduled for a late summer debut, according to the company.

Chaos Field was originally created for SEGA's ill-fated Dreamcast console. The Ikaruga-inspired vertical shooter took players through five stages of action-packed blasting, each of them made more difficult by three separate bosses.

The Japanese version of the GameCube port was more or less a copy and paste job. No word yet on whether or not the US build will include added features.

Chaos Field will be fully playable at the Electronics Entertainment Expo 2005. Stay tuned for more.

Cool, another shooter for the Cube. :)
I'm also up for some more 2D-shooter goodness.
I'd wish I owned Ikaruga if I hadn't played a friend's copy through several times...

But anyway, yes, I love 2d shooters.

Looks a lot like Ikaruga, of course Ikaruga was pretty cool so that's a good thing.
Ikaruga? Yeah, it kind of does... though the 2d shooter genre isn't exactly one with much variety, so they're all fairly similar in many ways. :)
