Very nice... a definite improvement over Burnout 1 for the GC, and that game looked pretty good... :)

Here are a few shots... they've got more at the link above.

Oh... for comparison. X-Box Burnout 2.

Cool. A bunch of red x's.
They work just fine for me.

It doesn't look like there is much difference in the graphics between the two versions.

That last pic is super-cool.
Gamespot is messing up on me. I can't see any screenshots at that site.
Yeah, they do look pretty much the same... I wonder how much better they look than the PS2 version, though. Any?

As for the game it sounds very cool... Burnout was great (if hard) so I'll probably eventually get this game. I love arcade racers... :)
the GC and XBox version look identical...i can't tell tat one looks better than the other.

wow, that's among the least profound things i've ever said.
It looks sharper than the PS2 version. Other than that, there isn't any real difference. Reflection, lighting, textures, backgrounds etc. etc.

My guess is the screenshots have been taken in high-res, though.

Are there any videos of the game available yet?

Oh, and everyone has to buy this game. It's the best racing game, ever.
OB1 go here if you want to see the screenshots. They're the same as the ones at GameSpot.
Quote:As described in our previous article, Burnout 2 has a number of technical and gameplay improvements over the original. Acclaim also described the GameCube version features extensively. See that article if you haven't checked it out yet. With the time of exclusivity now over, Burnout 2: Point of Impact should provide a good addition to the GameCube racing library.

Yah, it's provides a good addition to Burnout 1!!
I like the environments, but the contrasting car models look kinda cruddy. Maybe they look better in motion.
Thanks, D. It's working for me now.

So does everything go in slow-motion whenever you bump into another car? I couldn't play the last game for more than a few minutes because of that. It's just so annoying.
You didn't like Burnout because of the way it paused whenever you crash and then replayed the crash several times? While I did find it annoying, I took it as something to make you want to crash less so you wouldn't be delayed as long as those crash replays take...

No, that wasn't a problem... just something adding to difficulty. What was irritating was the INCREDIBLY tight time limit... I mean, more than half the time I fail to finish by running out of time! I have other time-based racing games (Wipeout 64 and Hydro Thunder, for example), but Burnout is insanely hard to finish... they BADLY need either an option for more time or to turn time off. In multiplayer at least...

And where's the 4 player multiplayer mode?

I wonder if Burnout 2 fixes these problems...
Mmm, that looks like it has some nice lighting.
Crashing is the best part of a racing game like that! If you have to suffer through some annoying slow-motion every time you hit a car (which I like to do intentionally), I can't play it for very long.
If you intentionally crash into cars, how in the world do you finish before the insane time limits run out?
You shouldn't have to be afraid of crashing into cars because of the annoying slow-mo.
I'd say it was replays of the crash, not slo-mo... it replays the crash several times.... its not just a slomo whenever you crash. And crashes in that game are really cool! Very well done crashes... I only wish I could crash but I can't because, as I said, the time limits are too tight to let yourself intentionally crash ever...

Even so, being able to save crash replays is a really cool feature.
Certainly, but having the whole game slow down whenever you bump into anything is really annoying. I wish you could turn that off.
But that would get rid of a pretty big part of the difficulty of the game... if they did that they'd have to make something else harder... and its already pretty tough. I'd rather just avoid crashes... while cutting off cars as close as possible for boostpower, of course. :)

Burnout is a very fun game... tough and frusterating (horribly short timelimits + lots of traffic + long, repeated crash animations that delay you a LOT = HARD!), but fun.
Burnout 2 does not have an annoying timelimit

Burnout 2 stops you, and shows 1 angle of your crash (no more) then you restart about 20 yards down the road from where you crashed.

The PS2 version only supports 2 player (4 player in Crash mode, but that's done one at a time)

Burnout 2 is 100x better than Burnout 1
Not regularly having 2 or 3 crash angles replayed on a crash sounds like a nice (and less frusterating!) improvement... as does better timelimits. Are they still there, but nice and easy to finish like most console racers with timelimits? Or gone?

If they don't add 4 player mode I'll be annoyed... there really is no excuse.

Except for lazyness... which is common. And why I don't expect a 4 player mode.. :(
Heh, ever optimistic, eh?
Never said I was...

No timelimits at all. And if there are, they aren't a problem because I've never met one.

I would hope for a 4 player mode in the GCN/XBox versions, but honestly don't expect it.

Don't worry, it's already the best party game I've ever played. Crash mode is a blast. :) I'm just praying that the sequal will be online, ala Midnight Club 2.
