It was announced yesterday or something but I didn't post anything because I was too lazy, and because it sounded like it might be a stupid MMORPG. But here are some screens (or artwork?) that look cool.

If it's a 2D RPG for the DS or something I will be in heaven. Well, as long as it doesn't suck, of course...

Or a 3D PS2 RPG with the same art style would be great. As long as it's not an MMO game!
The artwork in the Mana games, especially the more recent ones, it just incredible. I really hope this is for the DS or at the very least not an MMORPG.
MMOs aren't bad, but I don't like the monthly fee thing... just costs too much. Other than that my main complaint would be progression -- the only reason they give you to play is to improve your character. I'd rather have more than that, a real story... but that's impossible in a MMO setting.

Anyway, I doubt it'll be a MMO... Mana MMO? Just doesn't sound right... I do wonder what platform it'll be for, though.
A DS online Mana game might be neat though.

But I'd still prefer a good SP game.
Sword of Mana isn't bad. It's not fantastic-awesome, but it's definitely not bad.

But yes, that does seem the perfect platform for a Mana game...
Who said it was bad?
What they could do is have a regular Mana game, but you could play the multiplayer mode with people online.

Implies that the previous one wasn't...

Like how? A co-op campaign? There are all kinds of issues with those... it could be good, but there are defininitely hurdles. I mean, it is a fairly crowded genre, but a lot of them show the problems... you can sacrifice the single player (Gauntlet, Zelda: FSA, FFCC, etc), or have the multi as a tacked-on thing that doesn't work for most people (I know it's a different kind of RPG, but I could cite Baldur's Gate here!)... still, it'd be nice to see. Sword of Mana had an obvious place for 2-player gameplay and it was dissapointing that second players couldn't join in (that's a great way to do co-op -- as a character that'd be there anyway and you can just switch between human and comp. Like Tales of Symphonia.)...
I was talking about a multiplayer mode like in previous Mana games, excluding Sword of Mana. One person plays one character, another person plays the other, that sort of thing.

How does "I'd rather have a good SP game than an MMO" mean "the last game sucked"? Confused

I wouldn't say impossible. It could be done. And MMO's are moving in that direction. World of Warcraft is far more focused on quests than any previous MMO.

Take WoW's quest system and team it up with monthly story updates. Each year could be like a season on TV. A main story arc and a bunch of smaller stand alone stories thrown in to keep things interesting. So each month you would get a series of new quests that furthered the story for that year.

I just explained that and am not going to again. Once should be enough!

That's not much story, though. Just a little bit to keep things going... I know, it's the way a MMO has to work and it's slightly more "realistic". But it leaves you most of the time just playing so that you can improve your character, and that seems like it'd get old after a while, for sure... yes, some games are trying to deal with that to varying degrees (like Guild Wars, by not being an MMORPG... :)), but on the whole the genre has a formula. And it's not the best formula around for storytelling.

And yes, the next one definitely should have this... but should it have online play as well? And how would that work?

Translation: It might be fun to have an online DS Mana game, but I'd rather have one on the SP that's good than something like that.

Easy.
But it sure sounds like it's saying that there hasn't been a good GBA Mana game before... otherwise it would say 'another good SP game', not 'A good SP game'...
:shake:
... The Mana games suck! Link
No they don't!

You explained that you can't read, yes. I never once mentioned or even implied that I was talking about Sword of Mana.
I explained why I took that from it and it seems quite reasonable to me.
That's because you are a retard.
Rolleyes
I meant that affectionately. You are our little forum retard. :)
You know, there's a reason why in that post I didn't quote that part and reply... I wanted to drop it. So how about you do too and instead reply to the three parts I DID reply to?
Because this is too much fun. :D
More fun than actually talking about the Mana games, and this Mana game in particular?

Rolleyes
It's your fault!
I tried to drop it... it's GR's fault! He brought it back. :)
Nnnnnnnaaaah... it's your fault.
Quote:it's GR's fault! He brought it back.

It's your fault for not telling us what you knows about DJ.
But he doesn't know anything...
Because that's to blame for everything? :)
I like rice.
I saw a turtle.
Sweet.
You know it!
I... I saw a turtle.... that was... eating.... rice?
Damn!
