Quote:More Miyamoto at E3

Shigeru Miyamoto, the creator of some of the most highly-regarded series in the history of videogames, recently sat down with Japan's Weekly Famitsu magazine for a chat. In the interview, Miyamoto revealed that he wil be unveiling a new "remarkable" game at this year's Electronics Entertainment Expo and it will take advantage of Game Boy Advance-to-GameCube connectivity.

Recently, Miyamoto stated that he'd like to work on a new Zelda game, in addition to the Mario and Pikmin games he's currently cooking up. Whether the title set to be shown at E3 is one of these three titles, or an original project is cloaked in shadow.

This year's Electronics Entertainment Expo will take place at the Los Angeles Convention Center in smoggy Los Angeles, California from May 12th to the 14th. GAF will be there representin', so expect full coverage from the show floor.

Speculate.
Pikmin 2 and Pikmin Advanced.
Shiggy Miyamoto's Happy Fun Enchanting Wonder Game.
I'd buy it!
Mario's Super Happy Fun Fun Bumper Boat Blitz Frenzy...uh...Sunshine

I'm gonna say Pikmin 2 or perhaps Mario 128 or maybe Animal Crossing 2 or it could be a totally new game.

I stink at speculating...
I have no idea... but given how Mario 128 and a new Zelda are already rumors floating around, I bet it will be a new game... either a non-main game game starring major characters, or a brand new game. I don't know which...
If it is only as remarkable as his latest works (Pikmin and Sunshine) then I see no reason why you should be looking forward to this.
...

(if you ignore him he might go away)
Hopefully... but unlikely. Mario Sunshine was a really good game... Pikmin I found decent and not great, but it did have new ideas in it, at least for console games... it was interesting, but somewhat boring IMO... maybe because it wasn't an action game yet wasn't really a strategy game either. Oh well... at least it was different and a good, fairly unique game. What is so horrible about it MgL? Below what I'd expect from first party Nintendo? Maybe... (it was also fairly short and the limited time thing is really annoying...) but a bad game? No...
I think it's a new game. Either that or Pokémon. If it is Pokémon, maybe it will be something more than just a cheap Stadium game. But I think it's something brand spankin' new.
Post it on the front page news ;)
Pikmin and Sunshine are horrible because they are simply boring. I mean they are not on the level of some cheap ass third party crap but both dissapointed me very much so yeah you basically understand me.

You know even though I can't see Mayimoto making an RPG that isn't action related, I wish he would consider doing so because Im annoyed with the GC's lack of RPGs. I havn't tried SOA yet, because I don't have the cash to buy it. I would rent it but I hate renting RPGs...

I'm sorry, but I can't agree with you. You are telling me that I shouldn't be looking forward to these games because you thought they were boring? What convincing logic. Using the same line of logic, you should be looking forward to the games because I enjoyed Pikmin immensely. But you don't. And just as I cannot convince you to have fun with Pikmin, you cannot convince me that I did not have fun with Pikmin. So if you're going to make that claim, back it up with some good evidence.
Why are you stressing over potential RPGs that you couldn't afford in the first place...?
Hehe.
I think the only reason I wouldn't buy Pikmin soon would be if Pikmin 2 was announced.

Nah, I'd probably buy them both.

*Schwing!*

I liked both games, so I'm excited about a new Miyamoto game.
It would be a legitimate complaint if he could afford them... :)
Nintendarse I have great taste in games. What I say only counts for those who don't enjoy toturing themselves when they play games. Oh and I can afford games that will be comming out months from now. Rolleyes I've just spent hundreds on textbooks, a 2 disc DVD set, and Zelda: TWW so I havn't been able to afford SOA. Come on use your brains...
Call me crazy but I thnk that after Zelda: WW, Nintendo will take a small rest and then unleash hell in the form of small waves of in house, and second party produced titles. Again, Nintendo has taken the higher road and abondoned the idea of 3rd parties. This next 'wave block' from Nintendo suggests two things (if i'm right): The first one is that we'll see alot of games with new and returning franchises, mostly produced by second parties under the Nintendo brand name (we can already see some of this happening now). Second, we should be hit by a few key titles from Nintendo's in house devs. Those key titles will fill up entire seasons of dry spells from developers such as Capcom, who will release their Fantastic 5 over a period of two years and then....? Namco gives us Starfox Armada while Sega hands us F-Zero GC... and then?

(Nintendo has been doing very little work to turn nice profits.)

I'm willing to bet that Mario Sunshine was in fact 'Super Mario 64 2' just as Animal Crossing, Resident Evil Zero and Eternal Darkness were slated for the N64 and ressurected for the GC. When Silicon Knights turned their cart in to a mini DVD Nintendo execs said kaching and went to work on a plan.

(I think a part of that plan included the idea of making multiple versions of the same games to address different age groups)

So if we look at history and see that the graphical prowess of the GC is rarely used, and take note to Nintendo's current library for the GBA (absolutely no original titles from Nintendo's in house, except for Metroid Fusion) with it's incredible hardware sales. And then take in to account the sales of Eternal Darkness, Animal Crossing, Resident Evil Zero and the hype and presale data for Zelda: WW (a game that took Nintendo 2 years to make) ALONG with titles from Nintendo's in house devs that were short and quick and not expensive to produce *breaths* you are left with one possible answer.

Nintendo is holding everything back. The reason i'm seeing this is because i've seen it before with the N64 - I think Nintendo is readying a big change; An entirely new system with a complete overhaul of their image. I think that 2005 projected date is spot on IF the GC continues to stay #3. BUT Nintendo will try to pick themselves back up with this next wave and hopefully keep the current hardware as long as possible IF sales are there. Dont forget that Nintendo makes it's money from software sales, not hardware.

This "remarkable" game can be anything. It probably is something brand new, and i'm willing to bet that it will be a view in to Nintendo's plans of their new image.
I hope you're right!

But I'm also kind of afraid that this "remarkable" game might be nothing more than the BIG HUGE SECRET from Mario Sunshine which was just the water cannon.
Ah... nice and positive, aren't you? I expect its something a lot bigger than that... though part of a major series? Maybe... I don't know. Probably not but it certainly could be.
I'm only kidding.
How are we supposed to tell when you are or not...
I'm usually smiling whenever I'm joking.
MgL: Enjoyment of entertainment is not a definite quantity, as you imply by saying that your taste is more accurate than my taste. People can form individual feelings on entertainment value, but does that mean that the person who has the popular taste is accurate? Imagine the world emodied by a room with yourself and 1000 young children. 1001 bouncy, plastic balls are released into the room. Everyone is encouraged to play. When the entertainment value of the balls are rated by the population, all of the children give the ball a 10, while you give it a 1. Are you wrong to feel that the bouncy ball is simply not entertaining? Is there something defective in your taste? Or perhaps, as you would claim, all of the children are wrong? Obviously, from your perspective, you cannot be wrong. And from a child's perspective, she cannot be wrong. And who is to say that you are a better judge of entertainment value when the popularity argument is turned against you? Maybe there is a better alternative. Maybe this is not a contest to see who is better at finding the absolute quantity of entertainment of a ball. Maybe both of you are right. The child is a good judge of entertainment for herself, and you are a good judge of entertainment for youself. Imagine then that the child goes up to you and says that you are wrong to think that the ball is not entertaining. Is she a good judge of entertainment value for you? Obviously not. So, as we return to our world, I must ask, "Are you a good judge of entertainment value for me?"

I can make the assumption that you are trying to force your opinion onto me because you stated the following:

Quote:...I see no reason why you should be looking forward to this.

But, what fits with the model proposed above is that, yes, you are an accurate judge of entertainment for people like you, but you are the best judge of entertainment for people exactly like you (a.k.a. yourself). But by making the above statement, you assumed that all of your audience (us) is like you. That, my friend, is a dangerous assumption.
