I do have trained ears and so called perfect hearing so that I can tell what key a sound is in, it's something I use in music and sound effect engineering. It could very well be that the songs in Donkey Konga are made by different artists emulating the original artists. When I had the game here for a few days I never just listened to the music, I was always playing along with the conga. But what I do remember hearing must have fooled me really good. My grandfather evens has an LP of Louie Louie that was recorded by the original artists but in the song he pronounces all the words so you can actually hear what he's saying :) and that version is in Donkey Konga as well.

There are pro-voice actors that emulate other well known actors, some of them emulate what they look like as well. But I had never heard of emulating a song so it sounds as close as possible to the original version with even the vocalists emulating speech patterns and in some cases the dialect and accents of the original artists, like with Willie Nelson. It's just weird...
Oh right, I remember you saying you were actually trained in listening. You likely have the best hearing here and anyone who claims better would have to show a diploma to prove it.
Lol @ DJ

Silly girl. Gamespot, gamespy, UGO, cube-europe, Gamepro, CVG, and, well, just about every game site that actually touches on the subject confirm that they used cover artists in Donkey Konga. Again nice try, but you've fallen flat on your face once again.

After hearing the vocals in that Queen song for just a few seconds I could immediately tell that it wasn't Freddy Mercury. Now I can't personally vouch for the other songs since I only really listenend to the Queen one, but according to every decent review site all of the popular songs are done by cover artists. If your excuse for not being able to tell that it was actually Queen playing because you were concentrated on the gameplay is true, then try playing the tracks without playing the game and compare the song to the one you have on your cd. If you still can't tell the difference then perhaps your ability to differentiate between different keys in sound isn't as good as you think. ;)
what does anything in this thread have to do with detecting what key a sound is in?

And I already said that it is most likely that Donkey Konga uses cover artists to emulate the original artists sounds. If all the reviews are saying it then I have to agree, it just seems odd to me that they would go to those lengths instead of using a track from an album, which is called "Needledrop" where you purchase rights to use a song in your production. Like how most Tony Hawk games use actual tracks from the original artists and released albums.

what also seems odd is that OB1 has to take every conversation and turn it in to a rediculing debate. "Fell flat on my face"? Yes, I thought the band that was recorded for Donkey Konga was produced well enough to pass for the real thing when it wasn't. I have fallen so hard, it hurts to live, etc etc.

Uh, I was talking to DJ, lazy. She's always trying to "pwn" me, so to speak, but always fails. I wasn't trying to insult you. Perhaps I should have made that more clear.
Lazy, did you get that?
Yes.
... you are not lazy.
Oh...yeah. I keep forgetting.
