Not sure if anyone is still looking for a better e-mail address there, but I found something for those who couldnt' get g-mail.

http://www.bluebottle.com

250 MB storage, 10MB max attachment size (both ways I think), pop3/imap support, web support, VERY powerful spam filter (though it is in pretty absolute terms, I turned it off), e-mail search engine, lets you import e-mail from up to 3 other accounts, and oh yes, it's completely free.

One weakness is there's really no telling what the future holds for it. It could stay free forever like g-mail wants to do with all features intact, or turn into the mush that hotmail and yahoo turned into. However, it's a great service NOW and looks to stay that way for at least a few years more.

Anyway, as you might expect, my current address here is darkjaguar@bluebottle.com.

Okay, the one thing is setting up the account is a bit tricky. First off, they require honesty in your provided data. No "123 Fake Street", instead make up an address that sounds real :D. Otherwise, expect your account to be deleted within 6 hours.

Also, when setting up your e-mail software, you need to enable outgoing (smtp) authentication required, or it will fail. Also, you may need to change the port for smtp as well, depending on your isp, to 587 instead of 25. That's about it. One last bit, your log-on name is the entire address, not just the part before the @.

Anyway, not sure if this helps anyone else, but I had been looking for a new address for a long time and this does just fine.
My Hotmail account just jumped to 250MB [might have been more], not that I'll use that much space ever.
I noticed yahoo did the same thing.

Now I do have one question about hotmail. Does it allow pop3 access now? It didn't when I abandoned it (in fact that was why), but have they changed that?
Yeah, yahoo and hotmail are 250 megs now.
Why 250... I mean, Yahoo went to 100MB not too long ago and that was more than I'd ever need...
They're 250 now. I've used up 20% so far.
Honestly even with a box full of delicious revolting spam (in the thousands) I barely breech the 1% mark...

250 is fine for my current purposes. I mean, I won't be going over there at all *points to empty space*. I'm pretty sure both MS and Yahoo boosted this to compete with the ever looming threat of Google.

Anyway, have any idea if hotmail supports pop3 access again yet? I think I know the answer, which is "no". Since g-mail just recently added that capability, I have a feeling all will need to adapt.
I have 9mb now in my Yahoo mailbox, and that's only gotten by not deleting anything including all of those big newsletters I get... yeah, I don't get much mail... so it seems pointless to have so much. But whatever.
I get lots of mail. I gots friends and family all over the place...
*applauds OB1 for getting lots of e-mail*
*doesn't really get that much email*

I'm sticking with Hotmail now that I have 250 MB of space there. :D

I've also had my account since 1997. kong_diddy@hotmail.com
Yeah, Hotmail is just cool. It's MS, ya'll!
And that somehow makes it better? Erm
Of course! Come on! It's MS, ya'll!
