Just found out there actually is one difference between the original Metroid in Metroid Zero Mission and the Classic NES version. (No, I was NOT dumb enough to actually buy the classic version when I HAD the GB version, but I know someone who was :D.)
Namely, unlike in the version in Zero Mission, they actually found a way to let you save without having to die just like in the original. Now, with Zelda 1, Zelda 2, Metroid, and Kid Icarus too I believe, when you pause the game you can press up and A at the same time to get to the save menu without having to die. Heck, in Metroid you can get in situations where it's impossible to die and yet you are stuck. First read about it in the Zelda 2 instruction booklet under saving. They even kept this intact in their incarnations on Gamecube. On GBA, there's only one controller though. So, in Metroid Zero Mission's version, as I feared, it was gone completely. But, apparently they just mapped it to controller 1 in the Classic version (actually, instead of up and A, you press up and select). So, you can save without dying in classic, but not the one included in Zero Mission... Well, doesn't that suck... Oh well, there isn't a death counter and so long as I keep the deaths low enough I can still get the best ending... Still, I gotta quit every now and then, and sometimes I like to save if I'm afraid I'm actually going to die so I can avoid adding it to the counter. Still, I suppose it's minor.

When I play the original Metroid I do not stop until I beat the game which only takes about 45 minutes, but I memorized the map.

Never saw the movies, because honestly I think making live action movies of cartoons is like directly punching my very intellect in the face.
Yeah, the movies looked just bad... the cartoon was great though.
The first one [with Mathew Broderick] wasn't too bad, it had its moments. As to the other, I can't attest to that one, but I can say that from the box it looked awful. But, yeah, on the whole live-action movies based on cartoons are hardly ever very good.

That is true... corny show. It's better in memory. The movies are probably similar though... but still, classic TMNT is far better than a lot of current cartoons, such as, oh, the new TMNT?
Actually from what I've seen the new TMNT is better than the crap we used to think was great.
Seriously though, just about all of the cartoons from our generation sucked ass. The only exceptions being some of the Loony Tunes-related stuff and a select few others.
But now kids have really high-quality stuff like Samurai Jack, Dexter, Zim, Spongebob, etc.
I wonder how Inspector Gadget would hold up given that I haven't seen it in many years...

Loony Tunes is still as good as it ever was. Better, actually. I can appreciate it even more today.

Well, I did see part of a GI Joe episode about a year ago, and it was horrendous. I'd rather keep my Transformers and Thundercats memories untainted.

Maybe it's just more obvious now, but today's cartoons just seem to be more toy-commercials than anything, even though a lot of ours were nothing but. How many Ninja Turtles action figures were made from characters that appeared for a total of twenty-five seconds in the entire series?
I do think that most of our old favorites are really kinda krap now though. Captain N was ruined for me by me being able to watch it again. I'm sure TMNT would be, though I haven't yet. Super Mario Super Show still keeps its appeal though, to me, cause even when I was seven, it was kinda goofy. The Zelda show though... whee. Excuuuuuuuuse me, Princess. It's amazing to think Link was once a smartass, sex-crazed womanizing teenager spouting one-liners. It's what Link would be like if Acclaim used him to make one of their fantastic mascot platformers.
He's still that in my mind when I play the games. :D
Ninja Turtles... doesn't hold up quite as I remembered it, but it's still fun to watch... in a corny kind of way. It's not bad, really. Just obviously not aimed at adults.
That's what Link is like to you? There's a reason I NEVER liked that show, and it's because he seemed to be the ANTI Link more than anything.
