Remember that awesome Banjo Pilot transformation? When it went from mode 7 to awesome voxels?

Well it went back to mode 7, and it doesn't look too good. If the DS weren't coming out I'd still get it, but with Mario Kart on the way, what's the point?

Yeah, I saw that a few weeks ago too... too bad, but I guess framerates couldn't handle the voxels or something...
While it's nice that it was psuedo-3D and had depth with the voxels I wouldn't exactly call either "good graphics".
Those graphics were amazing for the GBA.

Voxels!
...

How can you tell the difference? :S
Um, one is flat mode-7 and the other is 3d voxels. One features flat terrain and the other 3d terrain. You can't tell the difference between these two shots?

Ahh, now I see. That hadn't occured to me. Looking at the ground in those Mode 7 screenshots still gives it a 3D appearance.
Well look at it in motion. It looks pretty crappy. :(
It looks 3d, but it has no height... Mode 7 is okay, but Voxels are so much better (and I mean for gameplay, not just graphics... so much more is allowed with them...)! This is definitely dissapointing.

The main problem is that since Voxels aren't polygons, they are Voxels, they cannot be 3d accelerated, which is why you don't see them in PC games anymore... too bad, there were some pretty cool looking pc games with them a few years back. It allows you to form things without having to worry about polys (volume pixels!)...
Voxels!
Voxels > Mode 7 for graphics.

Mode 7 > Voxels for framerates.
Gummi bears > Mode 7 for tastiness.
